Life has changed. As a kid I remember going to a Kings game where my father told me to take a good look at the goalie, Gump Worsely-- he was the last goalie in the league not wearing a facemask and he was retiring. No helmets. People didn't wear seatbelts in cars and if they did they were just lap belts. Smoking was allowed inside all of the stadiums at Lakers and Kings games. Smoking was allowed inside restaurants. Gas stations pumped the gas for you and while the tank filled they checked your tires and oil. Grocery stores bagged your groceries and carried them all to your car for your mother and loaded them into the car for her. Almost all professional athletes had jobs during the off season because they were paid so poorly. They moved furniture, sold insurance, did construction work. The Kings used to practice at Culver City ice rink and basically got dressed in the public restroom. It was just a tiny empty room attached to the toilets. Players would use the public restroom before and after practice. There was no trainer's room for injuries. No weight room. Rehabbing players would skate with my team to get on the ice. The rink was not even regulation size and had no glass-- just the boards. The Lakers used to practice at Loyola Marymount. You could walk into practice and stand beside Wilt Chamberlain, Jerry West, Elgin Baylor and they'd talk to you. Then you'd hop back on your Schwinn Stingray bike and pedal home. The world and sports has forever changed.

Donald is so competitive and when the season starts he might get the itch to play again. It would not surprise me if that does happen. Only time will tell.

AD is retired and HOF bound. Let's move on because the starters work hard to be there. "What he's going to do for 40 years...?" Lol, he'll be spending and investing money. Also, I'm looking forward to the next season in general. So much new talent to watch across the NFL. Go Rams!

I love Aaron Donald but I don't want to see him come back. I want to see what this team is made of without him. He would have to take somebody spot and I'm so excited to see Jared verse and Braden Fiske together with this new secondary!

The 1980s Niners are a great example of what can be done when an owner, GM and HC are all really excellent and on the same page. Those Niners had several incredibly successful drafts and was a place where veterans wanted to be. The current Rams triumvirate has a chance to echo this greatness. Ironic that the Niners GM was Shawn McVay’s grandpa.

AD. Doesn’t just want to not do camp. He’s tired of double and triple teams. If the front 5 is so good that he would actually NOT get extra attention. Then maybe. Unlikely is my opinion.

They should at least hire Donald as an assistant Defensive Line coach or some kind of consultant. His knowledge and leadership are invaluable. Our new young defensive line and OLBs could really use someone like him.

Agree. He made the attempt to run it back, after the Rams won the Superbowl a few years back. In my opinion, that was more of a reason to play another season, as opposed to the results after this year's draft.

It's about being comfortable when you play,if you've never played with a helmet, if you wear one it's uncomfortable, I'd fucking hate it , I had to wear shin pads . It felt so weird.

Aaron Donald does not need to go through the wear and tear of the season. He can walk in the front door at Rams Park on 1st of December. He spends 5 weeks on the practice squad add is ready for either a wild card or divisional game. But the Rams cannot be stumbling into the playoffs they have to look good like they could really do it. If they look like a team that could do it it would be great for him to go for it.

More probability that he imposes himself more as an unofficial coach and mentor. That takes a lot less personal time. I don't think he will. The only scenario I see is the new young guys on the team egging him to come back to try to get another ring. That way it would be a lot more special to him. Due to the respect that would have shown towards him.

Add Brennan Jackson and you have 3 nonstop motors like Donald's added to our defense this season. Davis may not have the nonstop motors of Verse, Fiske and Jackson, but he's a pretty solid player, especially against the run. Kinchen is a thumper too, so let's not forget him now.

I really don't care if he comes back or not. I think the Rams have a chance to have an even better defense without AD. When AD was there, he was doubled and tripled teamed. Once AD was handled, others were not making an impact except this past season with Turner. Now with these new weapons, teams cannot just double or triple one player because the attack will come from Verse, Fiske, Turner, Young, Brown. Pick your poison.

Dude has earned the right to enjoy his retirement in peace and not be asked or speculated every day if he’s coming back or not, yet this channel and rams fans keep saying he’ll be back if we make the playoffs. Like we made the playoffs last year with AD and it didn’t keep him around. Show some respect for the Defensive GOAT and let him enjoy retirement in peace. Only some fans. Those I dislike the most are the ones who complain about the picks, who ask Sean McVay to be fired when things don't go right, who shout Run the game, Run the game when Sean wants to balance the passing and running to lighten Kyren Williams load, those who predicted the Rams demise last season but shout SB this season. If the rams and NFL gives Aaron Donald an exempt from training camp or he unretires after camp it’s possible! He doesn’t like training camp for the fact he’s away from his family during camp
