Is the glass half full or half empty here? I'm pretty sure the irony of this song is that he actually loves all the things he says he hates. You read the title, No Better Blues, and it sounds bad because...well its the blues...Sometimes we feel like life won't get any better, but that's not what he's saying... He's saying it don't get no better. Life doesn't get any better than all the little things we sometimes forget to appreciate. So take the time to appreciate. P.S. I just thought it would be cool to substitute hate with love which is why I feel like he's doing this whole "Social Experiment" thing. Try listening to it with love instead.
Chance - I wanted there to be a certain level of confusion about it, because they are things that people might find themselves saying on a regular basis that they hate. Like the war or the government. It was just poking fun at saying that you hate anything. There’s so much positivity in the world and your day-to-day life that to go as far as to say that you hate something or you wish it didn’t exist and all the bad things in the world happen to you and only you, it’s a joke. It’s not real to have that much hate in your heart. The title of this song is most likely a play on the title of Questlove’s (of The Roots) book, Mo' Meta Blues: The World According to Questlove, (itself based on a Spike Lee movie).
yeah i agree somewhat, i think his voice is monotone in this because he's speaking not from his perspective but from a cynical point of view, and the lack of emotion in his voice kinda of paints that picture. This song is to show pessimistic people exactly how ridiculous they can be. At least thats what i make of it.
Michael Chin It's important to note that lots of people believe he sung from different perspectives. Most importantly, I was just talking about what came to my mind when listening to it for the first time and although it wasn't all about Chance, I felt, as a fan, that some major part of the song was actually about him... So try not to find loop holes in how people feel about a song, I was just sharing my opinion which is obviously far from the truth.
I love all theses people from america who get like 5 inches of snow all year and complain meanwhile in Canada its already -20 and we got 4 inches over night
Landon Mcginnis I literally did not say anything about how much snow falls or how cold it is. I said Chicago winters are shitty. So shut your "I'm from Canada eh" ass up
@@LandoMercy I mean us people who out here in Chicago and upstate New York gotta deal with some crazy winters, it’s very similar to canada cause Canada pretty close
I like to think he's talking about society in general. It's true that we have all of these amazing things but all we do is complain about how bad they are. Everyone needs to cheer up and appreciate being alive.
This song is a satire. Chance talks about all the different things "society" hates, not what he actually hates. He's bringing up and exemplifying how much hate there is in the world and how different all our hates are. one person may hate family and another may hate white people. such a beautiful and poignant song used as a tool for realization of societies foibles
if anybody is interested here are the chords (the //C is just a note btw) G6 Fmajor Em G6 // C F6 Em7 F6 (2 bars) then G6 Fmajor Em (2 bars) F6 (2 bars F6 (2 bars)
He's trying to point of the fact that all society does is think about the negatives in life even though sometimes, things are actually pretty good. "It don't get no better" so we have to learn to appreciate what we have before it gets worse.
I highly doubt anyone will see this due to how old it is, but I'm hearing this for the first time and feel like he's saying things to contradict each other to show the hypocrisy in the world. We all claim we hate one lifestyle when ours isn't any better. Therefore it's like who are we to say we hate these things such as...different races, how people's personalities are, etc. Also, some of these things may sound crazy to hate, but the point is someone in the world thinks that way.
It's like a mix between Childish Gambio and kid kudi. Childish's monotone word play over a smooth clean beat/kid kudi's short and sweet chorus' I've only started listening to this bloke, but I'm really enjoying it. Looking forward to discovering more great songs like this one. (if anyone can reply with similar artists, I'd really appreciate it).
its that new music.. even when its old. because havin enough music is never really enough to feed the mind. my decisions and my stress can all be relenquished with something i relate to this song to and i think its reverse psychology
i had the same feeling the first time i heard it. It made so much sense. But then i realised why it says 'it just dont get better' but at the end he says 'i fucking hate you'...feels like he's saying he hates people who complain about everything and that life doesn't get any better than this. Both sides make sense tbh tho and the meaning changes to me based on my mood
So is he with this group now forever? Like is he ever going to release a solo album/mixtape like Acid Rap and 10 Day. Those were the best idk about this /:
10 day wasn't wacky, only Acid Rap really was. Though, I think a lot of his stuff is dope, despite him changing up his style a bit. It's different, and I guess that's part of the reason I like it.
