Labdanum done to perfection!🧡 i really wish this type of perfumery comes back in style rather than sickly sweet gourmand trend which is currently going now. Excellent review as usual 💯❤im gonna show this video if anyone ask me about le lion. Big thanks🙏
Couldn’t agree more with this comment! Vintage is best. All I smell everywhere now are the same cheap and disgusting aroma chemicals used in ridiculous amounts to make fragrances “beast mode” no thanks
I just got the fragrance, its something that I have never smelled before... its so awesome to me, at least so far :D You and Eugene were the ones to blame for my purchase :D Thank you Ramsy for the review :) Amazing perfume
My first Chanel Exclusif and I love it. Has to be one of my favorite fragrances in my collection. I want to get CDR and Coromandel one day. I think Chanel makes the best “high end” line than any other designer brand. Fantastic review once again.
My favourite Labdanum, my favourite Les Exclusifs and one of my favourite fragrances in my whole collection! Fantastic perfume and great review Sir! Cheers 😁
I was waiting for your review on Le Lion! Brilliantly reviewed! It's also my favourite Les Exclusives. Even tho Shalimar is one of the best amber ever created, I still wear Le Lion more for its Labdanum!
Great review, Ramsey. You did Le Lion justice. I love this perfume! My favorite by far of the current Les Exclusif line. FWIW, I much prefer Sycomore to Coromandel. I don't find much similarity to Shalimar, other than maybe both have vanilla. Yay... I don't own a full bottle yet, just a mere 8ml. It's at the top of my wish list. But Chanel keep raising prices. It was only a couple months ago that it was $300/$450. Now it's $350/$500, as you stated. OUCH!!! In mid 2022, other reviewers were saying it was around $225/$300. I wonder if Chanel is trying to cut out frag-heads, and increase appeal to extremely wealthy brand followers by making it more expensive, therefore more desirable. As much as I want a bottle, even 75ml, I'm not sure I'm willing to pay that much for it. Regardless, Le Lion will go down in history as one of the GOAT's.
I think these perfume houses put themselves in a pickle... they can't keep prices low or consumers see them as a "less than" brand when compared to their peers...but prices are getting so insane, that consumers are starting to step away and not buy unless heavily discounted and Chanel doesn't discount their stuff I agree with you on the GOAT Les Exclusif or the 🦁
After smelling all of the Les Exclusifs, this is my favorite, with 31 Rue Cambon and Cuir de Russie completing the top 3. Would love to smell a vintage CDR soon, that could change the top. But Le Lion is stunning, one of my absolute loves, a fragrance for life, I’ll wear it today! I get the Shalimar comparisons, and with the labdanum as the star, I couldn’t ask for more. Loved this review! Cheers, Ram!
Hi, nice review. Le Lion is my favorite in les exclusifs collection, just behind Cuir de Russie EDT. I was lucky enough to get two 200ml bottles around 200€ each. I do agree with you concerning the similarities with Shalimar (I have a 1990 edt bottle). Thanks for sharing your time and knowledge with us.
Oh Hell ! Le Lion is the best Les Exclusifs ever created by Chanel. Definitely a masculine version of Coromandel, utterly animalic, feline, wild and posh at the same time. The only women I can imagine wearing this perfume are Tina Turner, Naomi Campbell and Gisele Bundchen. I'm definitely in love with Le Lion and plan to buy a 75 ml at a lower price. This fragrance is the king, roaring, dominating the others with this bright and accurate use of labdanum - the best use of this note I've ever smelled. 10/10
I still think the word masterpiece in perfumery is vastly over used, but Le Lion certainly belongs to that category. My favourite Les Exclusif (aside from CdR of course)
I prefer Le Lion to Shalimar, Coromandel and CDR. It took me a while to understand and I actually hated first time I tried on a strip. It slowwwly opened up like a flower over many wearings and now it’s in my top 5. Great review of a modern masterpiece!
This feels like Shalimar, but it feels like its own creation also...its weird. It has something sandy, gritty, spiky and smoky. Shame Chanel doesnt do more of these more deep and bold releases in exclusive line.
Great review! Le Lion is my favorite Les Exclusifs offering. I consider myself lucky, when the fragrance first came out I ordered a 75 ML bottle for $200 I liked it so much that I ordered the 200 ML for $350. Chanel is gouging their customers beyond belief. The only way to send them a message is to minimize purchasing.
This is my favourite fragrance of all time. I have yet to receive a single compliment (not that I care) but I also haven’t had any of my friends or family say they like it. They all say it stinks, I need a new family and new friends 😂. I hope to see more Chanel Les Exclusive reviews by you, it’s a great line and you always do such an amazing job reviewing these types of fragrances. Eugene is great also
Le Lion and Coromandel is my faves with Sycamore coming in third that Ive purchased all posh to me for a designer. Hope all is well Ram and better days ahead brother
I was not a fan of Le Lion at first but now it is one of my all time favorite scents. I have to thank you for your recommendations on this one Ramsey. The only other Labdanum centered scent that can top Le Lion is Haute Luxe from my perspective, not because of the price (I only have a travel atomizer and probably won’t buy a full bottle forever) or scent quality(I prefer Le Lion much better in cold weather), but because of the special memories connected with Haute Luxe. I wear it for my wedding, my moon honey and my vacation to Hawaii with my parents. That’s why Haute Luxe will always be my number1 Labdanum scent. (It’s kind of like your relationship with TF Oud wood, scent memory you know). But I’ll always go for Le Lion if I’m craving for Labdanum. Cheer!
I'm my opinion it is safe to call le lion a masterpiece. What it does it does it to perfection. I wouldn't ask for anything to be changed in it. I recently picked up a back up 200 ml bottle because I don't ever want to run out of this and refuse to pay these new prices and I know the prices will go up even more.
I love how you described Le Lion’s regal pose to that of a lion’s mane (washed and blow dry). Not some matted fur😂. Purrrfect review. It’s one helluva bold, sexy labdanum-centric modern release. The only one I cared to have a 200ml from the Les Exclusifs! 😻
@@RamseytheRam after I got my decant I ran out bought it retail ! 😻 didn’t want to wait for a deal etc. what a nice gift to have! They even had a special lipstick for Le Lion!
It is a lot... problem is it feels like Chanel raises its prices 10 to 20% every year... on schedule... so the longer you wait the more expensive it gets
The R word makes me shake... although Chanel usually doesn't do bad reformulations.... & at 500 for 200ml they can afford to keep the juice well preserved
Thanks for the review. Thorough as always. Here's the thing - I've never liked the Chanel DNA. Don't like the legendary Anteus. It must have been a subliminal rejection, as I've recently learned that Coco liaised with the Natzis when they occupied France in WW2. Now I know for sure that I'll never buy a Chanel, no matter how good the scent is. It's mixing logic with emotions, but hey, scents are all about emotions. I'll never feel good wearing a Chanel. I'd rather buy a well blended "inspired by" (or even a clone) of a Chanel I'll like (when i find one). Thanks again
I have 4 different Shalimars. I love them. I DIE for Le Lion! OMGosh, best stuff ever! I know Emeraude. To me Le Lion reminds me of Emeraude on major steroids, more than Shalimar reminds me of Le Lion. Emeraude, I never got the lemon, like I do in Shalimars.
Stunning fragrance for sure. I can admit I enjoy overspraying this sometimes, maybe if I'm staying at home or something. It has this calming effect... Sotd Rien Intense Incense.
Le Lion is a good fragrance, Shalimar plays in another league. Le Lion is much better than other exclusives such as cuir de russie edp in my opinion which smells synthetic for my taste. Yesterday I bought a very old sealed Antaeus from the 80's I hope it will be much better than the 2003 bottle I have, I am looking forward to comparing them
@@RamseytheRam 1980 Antaeus has already arrived home. I've only used it once but you can smell distinct differences from my 2003 bottle. This morning I watched your Antaeus video and I can't tell you anything that you didn't say in that video, plus you know the fragrance much better than I do. This original version has convinced me, but not the 2003 bottle
I was hesitant to get it at first just because it was the latest one. I had so many "ambers." Once I smelled it again in depth, I was sold. Happy I found a 200ml tester bottle before prices went again 😅
I would like to try all frags from Les Exclusifs line but I think they only keep them in Chanel boutiques. I feel like the whole line is more for the mature audience based on the notes on most of them but Le Lion and Coromandel look like something I would enjoy as 26 year old and I do enjoy some mature smelling frags.
Erotic, carnal or as Mr Persolaise would call it “Randy” 😂 all great descriptions of this scent. Wonderful review and I couldn’t agree more with the candle wax on skin reference.
Certainly a fine fine fragrance my first and only from the line but damn I really should look into more this line ,Le Lion is fabulous. Cheers Rams a brilliant review and breakdown for sure ✌️🙏👍
@@RamseytheRam for sure however I’m hating on the crazy price point, that said I just pulled the trigger on a 2023 perfum A.from Ann Demeulemeester , who I hear ya say lol, me too I was watching a review one of only two on RU-vid by Cheap Imitation a chap with exquisite taste and I was intrigued soo a week later pulled the trigger 🤪. I know crazy but that’s me I’m afraid if you check the review out and it’s scent profile I think you may understand my interest 🙏👍oh yeah 330 euro 💶 boom 🤯
@@RamseytheRam I believe so Ram she did some outrageous fashion line ,retired some years ago but apparently came back to create and release this A. Fragrance . Hoping it’s more my style than her goddam clothing line etc but it sounds terrific, a niche pure parfum version of Antaeus Have I peeked your interest hahah 👍
I've just been watching you for a short time. Your knowledge about perfume is very impressive. I wish I had your knowledge, What I think I would love to see is. Like a Somalia of Wines matching Wine with food, can you do a video matching a perfume with a person? PERFUME SOMALIA!
Love this stuff, however i only have about 30 ml left, so not wearing it very often. Would love another bottle but the new price hike is eye-watering. Rumours of a new Les Exclusif called comet, or comete.....
I love Shalimar and Le Lion and find them pretty different. Le Lion has a smoky tar-ish quality. My friend said it smells like a old ship and there is some truth in that, I think.
For me the best fragrance in my collection but almost I use it special event two years or almost 4 and still don’t use 10 ml hahahaha today I got boy and love it think is more for daily use
I doubt Le Lion uses real mysore sandalwood... it is very limited by the Indian Government now a days and the amount a big firm like Chanel would need would be outrageous.. just my 2 Cents 🪙
Absolutely love it! Bought retail immediately after I smelled it in the store when it just came out, came across it just by accident. Well yeah yeah Shalimar, ok, alright... why nobody bothers to compare it to Emeraude!?? Upsets me! Coty camp here! 💪💪💪 And also the thing is, take an amber (aka oriental) and stuck an overdose of bright bergamot on top of it, you'll get an Emeraude/Shalimar or other citrusy oriental thing that was super popular 100y ago. Just can't get away from it, it's that kind of scent profile. It is gorgeous! I do not get any kind pf filthy vibe from it, I just don't. Smell like an old world, a posh old world and that's what I really liked about it the moment I smelled it. 🤌
@@RamseytheRam EXCELLENT!! I HAVE 12 FROM THE HOUSE. IM EXCITED TO SEE WHAT THEIR NEW RELEASE THAT IS COMING OUT. HOPEFULLY ITS ANOTHER SURPRISE LIKE LELION. TIRED OF THE SOFT SOAPY NATURE. I KNOW THAT IS THEIR SIGNATURE BUT THE LINE NEEDS SOME BOLDNESS TO ADD CONTRAST TO THIS LINE. A LITTLE MORE DARING AND CREATIVITY WILL TRULY ROUND THIS LINE OUT
Ramsey, whenever you read these manufacturer blurbs, they sound kitsch and ridiculous. I'm still trying to forget what Roja says about his perfume. These guys have got to start reading real poetry. "I am Coco. I am a lion!" ... now give me 250 bucks.
7000 sub 🎉, please change the name to ramsey perfume or ramsey perfumery or anything related. It is impossible to find your channel by typing ramsey 😅.
Been going through the history of Rome (which is one of the first ever) , the age of Napolean & now I am onto Alexander the Great which the guy who does this one is pretty funny... he is a Greek gentleman so it's perfect for this type of podcast
As beautiful as it can be I find it really difficult to pull off. It is a really demanding fragrance and only few ones can wear it comfortably. Otherwise the risk of synesthesia is high with this one. I am not talking about socio-economic status, I am talking about presence. The story of this fragrance is about a magnetic, charismatic and bold persona, not necessarily loud or extravagant though. Not necessarily stiff either. This is not a banker in a conventional suit, or a random Joe with jeans and a lawn to mow. This guy is definitely urban and European, possibly Central or South Europe. Cultured and adventurous. He loves indulge himself with the pleasures of life but never goes vulgar. So the fact that you may afford it doesn’t mean you actually can or should wear it. Does it sound Snobbish?, sure.
