In the Niche world there are plenty of masterpieces out there, and they are have reasonable prices. Chanel is abusing their Brand Name, I think, to justify those crazy prices.
My philosophy is simple; whenever any fragrance approaches the cost of my monthly rent, I'm out - period. 🤣😃😆 Fougere Royale is fabulous - currently on bottle # 5. Bracken Man is awesome as well.
I also heard Initio is going up next month as well. I’m sure the discounted prices will increase as well. Don’t know why anyone is surprised. EVERYTHING is going up. Sad the times.
One unfortunate consequence will be even more counterfeit activity, if that's possible. It's surreal that a Xerjoff is a lower cost alternative. Thanks for these alternatives!
I might squeeze Shalimar edp in there as an alternative to Le Lion. Quite similar on my skin, but certainly not exact. I prefer the Chanel. Just...not the price. 😄
way way way overpriced. I am not paying 400 bucks for "exclusives" I can't believe Chanel keeps raising prices , absurd. These use to be 300 bucks....in a few years its a 100 bucks....no thanks.
That $50 raise is outrageous. For what??! I think we will see a price hike in not only fragrances but other things as well. The other day I was going to buy a new luggage for travels for $50, but due to no stock, I had to wait, only to see the price went up to $70 now!! And no it was not on sale as every other luggage they had went up in price too.
I think a lot of corporations are using Covid as an excuse for price increases I guess one thing affects the other down the line but I can’t help but think that Chanel just thinks the wealthy will pay. And maybe the price hike will keep Le lion out of the hands of the regular folk. Lol
I think the price hikes are a result of the global inflation that is taking place. Inflation devalues everything, so of course that includes those juicy profit margins of all luxury items and merchandise. But since even cheapie fragrances are technically "luxury items," I think we might see more price hikes all over, unfortunately.
I enjoy Chanel perfumes but feel that with the way their pricing has gone up I am no longer their target customer. I’m sure they’ll be fine, maybe sell even more bottles due to the exclusif pricing. It seems that the middle range price range is being squeezed out i.e Atelier Cologne, Serge Lutens, etc. Not great for the perfume customer without a trust fund ha Thank you for the well thought out alternative list, really helpful and interesting.
The law of diminishing returns has to come into play at some point with these brands. I mean short term they will make a few extra bucks per bottle, but people are going to stop buying them at some point. I don't see how it's sustainable.
I have noticed Price has nothing to do with Quality at all....You can buy a 500 dollar fragrance and it can be weak and smell like shit!!!...People need to hold these Companys Accountable for what they put out for us to put on are skin! I mean the 500 dollar fragrance i was referring too was Aventjus!
I just recently ordered some samples of Chanel les exclusives.I found they didn’t perform well on my skin except for Le Lion and now I’m obsessed with it.I am not going to buy it,because of the prices.I do own Amber Sultan,I rediscovered it and love it enough to get over my obsession of Le Lion after watching your video. So thank-you for that.
Now , during the pandemic when many people lost their jobs, life’s harder for so many people, very hard to find a job, inflation for the basic foods…. Chanel made this parfumés which are nice but not worth the money, more expensive. Also , look what embarrassing cheap items they put in that calendar which cost 800$ , it’s embarrassing, the items are around 1$ or 2$ value each (stickers, hair elastic, a little cartoon box )…yes, I think they are money grabbers
I am a fan of Chanel makeup and their fragrance but the price hike is ridiculous. I stopped buying their handbags because of the hike in the prices and I think I am done with their fragrnces too.
I wouldn't be so upset with Chanel raising their prices so much if they weren't also decreasing their quality. This is accross the board with all their products. For those prices you can get very high quality perfumes.
Chanel isn’t only raising the price level but also restricting distribution of their regular men’s fragrances selling everywhere. The reputed stores other than their website are carrying it. One moment I see some are available , the other moments I find it unavailable or out of stock, especially their classic men’s fragrances. Not sure about it though. This is surprising and frustrating. Wish to get some fragrances as backups
They are restricting their distribution as well? Fully embracing that "exclusive" marketing model, aren't they? Perhaps they are shifting their distribution efforts elsewhere like others. No worries, there are plenty other fragrance houses who want our income.
Chanel increased the 75 ML exlusifs by $50 from $200 to $250 in January. I had been considering purchasing Le Lion since it was released. I placed an order from Harrods and planned to purchased Le Lion for $194 near the end of December with this order. By the time I placed my order, it was sold out. In January, I went to Chanel to order and the new price was $250. I did not order. I will not order. Not worth it at all!! I do own many higher priced bottles so affordability is not it.
I just purchased Le Lion yesterday and it retails for 185€ here in germany, so I‘m shocked about the price differences worldwide… i even purchased my Coromandel for 185 € 2 years ago and on january i spend 185 € as well for my second bottle. The prices never changed over here.
Please tell me what I may buy that replicates a close scent to Chanel 22. I want a large bottle! Lol. Currently it costs $400. I adore this scent and years ago bought spray in white canister .
Glad for the most part i am at the end of my Fragrance Buying Journey! Not saying i will not ever buy again but i also feel its getting not worth the price now days so bummer for them,,,
I’m a fan of almost all of the collection, but I have never owned a bottle. It’s even farther out of reach now. I will not pay these prices when you could spend that $ on a huge haul from many other niche brands. What’s up with so many price hikes during the pandemic? It seems like Amouage have also raised their prices a bit. Thanks for another great video. ✌️
Knowing how Chanel sold a 900$ advent calendar with mostly STICKERS inside, this isn't so surprising. All of these privè collections are for people who don't know where to spend their money, for the rest of us it's really crazy to buy a perfume that costs as much as a vacation
Hello Sebastian! Thank you for being there in fragrance world. I would very much appreciate it if you talk about the house of "Sylvaine Delacourte". Love all the way from Saudi 🇸🇦❤️.
Happy Monday Sebastian 🌅. I was completely caught off guard with Chanel's $50.00 price increase as of 1/1/22. I would have ordered Coromandel instead of getting Coco Mademoiselle Intense Edp Darn. For 🎄. I ordered Beige for my Birthday 🎉. I am not crazy about because of the Honey note. Coromandel was sold out, and at the last minute I didn't get Jersey , or Sycamore. I currently have 16 different Chanel fragrances, and only 2 Les Exclusifs Collection. I believe that I'll get Coromandel for Valentine's ♥️ Day . Even though I want YSL Le Vestiaire Collection Caban , and Caftan. $250 for 4.25oz.very good value , whereas 75ml. At the very least I will always buy my forever favorite (I have) Chanel no. 22 edp. I'll look into Tai Cabanal. Thank you for this video 🙏♥️
I received a call from my Chanel Rep that my Gardenia perfume is ready today. She shocked me with price omg $400 for the 6.8 oz.. smh!!! It's my wedding scent so I sucked it up... $50.00 more. She said everything is going up. She said get ready for all the brands to go up... Prices will continue to go up for Chanel every January.
If you take into account that sometimes the price we pay from niche brands for ml is higher than any of these Les Exclusifs, I don't find the price hike that bad, but Chanel just doesn't do it for me, maybe Egoiste but everything else that I've smelled is meh, Dior is more my taste in fragrances. I have not tried Le Lion and I will, maybe I'll love it, but I prefer to pay for a perfume from a small house that makes me feel, a work of love, that transports me to a happy place, and that it's not a money grabbing item from a company that is only interested in profit. Thank you Sebastian!!!
Great. Higher prices and inferior fragrance ingredient blends. I'm not even buying stuff that's new release designer or IFRA compliant. They're turning the business into shit.
75ml used to be $200 which I didn't mind paying....but $250 now?! I was looking forward to adding more to my collection but I will no longer be buying retail. Sad to see. I was at Neiman a couple days ago and the lady at the counter was telling me to buy the Initio's and Parfums de Marly because they were all going up ~$30 this week as well.
A Chanel price increase will encourage me to try some new things! They are my Holy Grail but I won't pay that much for one at this time in my life. There are so many beautiful fragrances to discover (thanks to you)!
Wow!. I was just thinking about Chanel Les Exclusifs this morning and I saw this video. I have three bottles and I am starting to run low, but now I am not sure Ill make the effort to replenish. You wonder how this will "hurt" their bottom line with others thinking twice. I would rather spend the money on something that is not liquid and will be around longer.
Chanel's Exclusifs are wonderful, but people saying they absolutely have to go along with a pay hike no matter what the price because they insist "Chanel is the best." There are thousands and thousands of other fragrances available, and some (in fact many) are made with ingredients as fine as Chanel's and by perfumers as talented as Chanel's. But many people are buying Chanel for the brand name as much as (and in some cases, even more than) the actual perfumes.
Lion, coromandel and sycomore are good but the other are pure trash I am not a fan of les exclusifs from Chanel i like the regular one better bdc, allure, egoiste
I own Chanel Sycamore but it is not something I reach out for regularly. I also have several decants that I’m using up so my bottle stays intact for as long as possible. I own several from the regular range and I enjoy them. I’m interested in Coramandel and I read it often is compared to Xerjoff Richwood which I have a large decant of and I think it’s great. Perhaps you’ll be able to do a comparison of the two. Have a great evening
Thanks Sebastian for a very informative video , I never tried any of those Chanel Les Exclusifs Perfumes to bad there was a price increase but the alternatives you have given gives me a ton of options . This video is going to require a few views 🙂 . Thanks for doing the leg work !! Cheers Brutha 😎
So today I was watching your video you did about 8months ago about Chanel private line because I want to try some of the fragrances and you said indeed it will be a price increase in de Chanel Les Exclusive!.I’m intrested in Le Lion And Coromandel.so is it still worth to buy??after seeing your review today I’m doubting a little but want to try the entire line and if I still love one of those still buying….. Thanks for the alternative;great job😊
Thank you for these 'Alternatives' videos...I know I have said it before but I will say it again - You should not have to levy your car or house to smell nice! LOL! Some of us love fragrance but we have to work within a budget...Now, when something becomes your most beloved signature scent and they raise and raise the price on it - It really hurts! Chanel is not MY house of choice but it is my Grandmother's..I might have to fight someone if my granny can't continue to wear her favorite perfume! LOL!
I guess I could summon up my relationship with this line in a word: disappointment... And now I can summon it up even better: unworthy disappointment... Sorry, not sorry... Chanel think they're Apple, completely overestimating their value all the time. I'd rather buy actual niche, with actual performance, and I'd still save money... Bye, bye, baby... 🤷🏻♂️
Damn!! I can see the price increase due to all this supply chain and supply and demand, but $50 price increase is crazy. Luckily I’m not a big fan of Chanel’s.
Raising prices on the same weak reformulated fragrances? They could raise them as high as they want. Or give them away for free. I don’t like Chanel anyway
Everyone is raising prices….. Roja is going up along with Intio and Jovoy. Shame. I better get some Amouage before they go up. Thanks for this video Sebastian.
@@aquababy5 When Saks offered the 15% beauty discount this past November, it was for ALL fragrances for ALL brands in the store. I regret now not picking up Coromandel.
Have been wearing Le Lion two days in a row now while travelling. Nothing comes close - they can take my money when my bottle is empty. I blind bought Ambre Precieux based on your recommendation and it’s up there as well (better than Ambre Sultan to me) but nothing beats the lion 🦁
I love Chanel Jersey. There’s something about it that really hits the spot for me. I’m open to trying the alternatives, though, because these prices for an everyday scent are just too much.
Remarkable video..you’re always the first to bring these news to us it’s so great of you brother!my favourite from this collection is Cuir de russie and I feel the pure parfum version of that is just as expensive as Roja Great Britain whiches on a totally different level that’s why chanel is a NONO to me.fantabulous video
Price hike is criminal but then everything’s price is going up after this pandemic, BUT still Chanel fragrances are awesome, if you like them, you’ll eventually pay
