People like me who ride one every day, 365 days a year in Beijing. Quite convenient with an electrical starter then.. Nice video. Fun to see people outside of China riding CJs
Great presentation, thanks. I am solo thinking about getting one, but I don't know enough about mechanics. All the pages on the internet warn they are a very high maintenance bike. Watching clips like yours will hopefully convince me that I need a CJ next to my Bonnie.
pretty sweet video man :). got meself a ural so im trying to find some inspiration for the looks :). and thankfully, many of the parts from the chan jiang fits :) sidenote: isnt the tailpipes upside down:)?.
I have a Dnepr which the CJ was copied from. You do not need electric start! They kick start really easy as all boxer engines do. You do need to kick the engine 3 times with the engine ignition turned off to pump oil up into the oil galley's before starting it. These engines sling oil inside the crank case so that needs to happen immediately on engine start. As long as your ignition system is in good condition and carburetors are functioning correctly they will start on 1 kick after the 3 pre-lube kicks.
I own one, sweet bike, well built good engine. Runs smoother than my KMZ K750M. But chinese "chrome" stinks. It's not chromed, it's wrapped in alu-foil.
Yep, don't expect more. You have 24HP to play with :-) and allowed total weight is more than a thousand pounds - about 600 kilograms. As I said, it is a nice bike, but not fast. Basically designed in the mid 1930'ies, where 55 was very fast. If you want a faster sidecar, go for a russian Ural or a Dnepr MT 16.
