This video illustrates the basic combative principles in elementary level Wushu Chang Quan known as Long Fist in English.
Long Fist or Chang Quan in Chinese, is a form of long range attack and defense techniques which evolved from Northern Shaolin Kung Fu. The martial art includes various fighting applications useful in combat. These basic strikes may include punching, kicking, elbow goring, grabbing, pulling, pushing, and takedowns. During normal practice, athletes train the legs through various stances that include the horse stance, forward stance, drop stance, cross stance, and cat stance. When practiced regularly and properly, students can develop great strength, speed, and dexterity.
Elementary Wushu is the first level in achieving success in contemporary Chinese Martial Arts. In order to pave a viable foundation for beginning students, the International Wushu Federation compiled an essential curriculum for everyone to follow. The first level is accomplishing the 6 basic Wushu Long Fist ( Chang Quan ) combinations. These 6 basic combinations will serve as the building blocks for all further levels of contemporary Long Fist.

For practitioners interested in training at our studio, the facility is located in Gardena, California on the Northeast corner of Normandie Avenue and 137th street situated in the South bay of the Los Angeles, California Basin. It is a spacious 4,000 Square feet Martial Arts studio dedicated to Contemporary Wushu and Traditional Shaolin Kung Fu for professional artisans. The facility is equipped with a seamless martial arts floor used for throws, sparring, grappling, and combats sports. In addition, there is a competition gymnastics springboard floor. The equipment is for professional artisans during rehearsals of rolls, flips, gymnastics, Wushu, and aerial tricks. Wushu Shaolin Kung Fu is also equipped with kickboxing equipment, heavy bags, weapon racks, and a traditional Wing Chun Dummy. -
