I have just discovered your channel. I have finally gotten behind the business end of a sewing machine at the tender age of 53 - my grandmother who was a wonderful seamstress would be ‘sew’ proud. I have been up cycling jeans and making them into bags when I stumbled on your channel. Thank you for making all of these tutorials. You are a wonderful teacher. 😀
I much prefer Mandarin collars, or as they're sometimes called 'granddad shirts'. Now I know how easy it is, the sewing machine's going to be busy....!! Thank you for a good tuition video
This is so helpful, thank you! I don’t like the way I look in regular collars but it’s hard to find mandarin collars. Your instructions are clear and you talk through everything so it’s all explained.
Thank You madam Paganini! I have a shirt which I have been wanting to do This to for years.. and you just came along at the right time... beautiful tutorial, I liked the way you said , If you're a perfectionist. .etc..I smiled...coz I do try to be..
Thank you for sharing! First time I've seen this upcycle approach. Ideal solution for collars that are too large, worn, etc. FWIW, I've reversed them to hide worn collars (including using iron-on patches to stabilize threadbare spots), but had not considered this option. Hope you will continue to produce videos to share your wisdom.
What a great tip! I just bought a few shirts at an estate sale--blue solids, stripes and checks-- and they all had white collars. I didn't like all that white and now I know what I'll do with them. Thanks Michelle!
Thanks for all the tips and stream of consciousness. It really helps me understand the process. I've wanted to do this conversion but was unsure of my skill level. You make it look so doable. Thanks
I love watching you sew Love the way you explain your motions. Thank you again Haven’t started on any sewing yet It’s been 2years but still can’t go into my husbands things yet . Only thing I where is his T-shirts and sweats. “Oh me am I ever going to get there ? “ Thank s again keep sharing please
If the collar has stretched when it was being picked, try steam pressing it to return the fabric to its original shape. I think the part that is cut on the bias or near bias gets pulled out of shape a bit when pulling out the stitches. Steam pressing works on any curved cut, such as armscyes...one of my problems when trying to sew set-in sleeves.
