I just did the same repair. THANKS for this video. Bought my replacement part from Tesla by going to Service in Tesla phone app and requesting the part. Had to accept appointment time and then I called the largest Service Center in the area and requested the part, they looked up my service request and quickly located the part and magically the Tesla app had reviewed my request and would have the part at that center, this part was less than $15. I drove 3 hours rt and picked it up the same day. The part numbers in this comment section above are correct. I had requested the wrong part, but had the old one so they looked up the correct one and all was good. Took a bit of time, but all was good. WS nice to have this and the door panel remval videos.
Might be the same problem I experience now on my MX17, when using door button on the outside, you can hear the actuator trying to push the door open but the locking mechanism won't release. When pulling and holding the handle on the inside it struggles for a second and then the door pops open. Is this what you originally experienced? Cheers!
@@bergpettersentransport3326 but the actuator does work it seems, but if both parts are cheap I might as well replace them both when I have the door side taken off, thanks a lot for your video and response 🙏
Howdy! I too am dealing w the exact same issue on a 2017 model X. I removed the door panel and was surprised to find there is not an existing door actuator to replace. I’m wondering if you encountered the same issue on ur 2017? Any info helps at this point lol thanks! 🙏🏼
@@maripozaa01 sorry but I haven't got around to having a look yet so you're way ahead of me there! But yeah that is really surprising that the part is completely missing from yours? Did your door used to work and now it suddenly doesn't?
@@maripozaa01finally I got around to do this, I received the part a few weeks ago but haven't really had time until now. But, it worked! My door is working like new again 😅 one thing tho is that the door side is stuck on there really hard!! It took me probably 20 minutes of prying, using only my hand cause I didn't wanna risk damaging the edges of the door panel and it felt like I was gonna break something so it took a good while of using more and more force to get the first clip to come loose. I broke one clip but that was in the top left corner so right where the bolt is holding it anyway. Also there is a push down clip on the first trim you remove, this one can apparently be a little stubborn as well. Also put something on the ground to rest the panel on (I didn't and this made things harder than necessary). All the best!
Probably , this is just horrible I went to Tesla today and they said for 16 if the latch is bad we need to change both from door internals retrofit and charge me $1200 i guess I have no choice but to find used
It says left and right, little confused to understand which is passenger and which is driver doors. If possible let me know the passenger side part number pls.
@@bergpettersentransport3326 video of it working after you fixed it would have been helpful. Never mind. Just took video of me showing the same issue with my door. How I removed the door panel, how I identified the parts, how I fixed the issue without buying parts, why the issue was caused in the first place and how It was working after I fixed it. And how I put everything back together. As there was information missing from your video and the others I have spent time looking at online which were of no use. Yours at least went part the way to showing the info I needed. Just now need to edit and post my video. Cheers.
