I'm a 60 year old dude and watch your stuff for one reason only...I love the way you "think"! It's given me ideas and insight for my own brick 'n mortar business! You certainly made the right move - one of the many reasons why I integrated to YT! Over on IG, you pretty much have to stick to one niche to make the algorithm happy -and that is not how I roll. I used to focus my work solely on fashion and solely on sustainability, but now with YT, I'm posting anything and everything that makes me happy, and I'm actually seeing growth!!

I think your problem is probably that people have questions and they look them up and BAM you're there. So the views come in but you might not have amazing retention of people being like "Omg! Good luck Millie. While I follow you on IG, I only really consume your content here on YT, and honestly, it’s the same with other creators I follow. IG is exhausting and I certainly feel that is what led to Vanessa Lau taking an indefinite break from it all. Wherever it leads to next, I’m here for it and certainly from the mental health side of things, completely back this decision.

7:05 Millie, I recall from one of your older videos (about posting when you’re not motivated, etc.) and you mentioned that at some point Instagram will not be a content creators main motivator. In the video, you recommended posting reels or stories if making a post isn’t something a creator wants to do. I think you’re correct to pivot away from Instagram. Your IG content is inspiring, but their format is too limited for your creativity. IG and other socials can coexist, but your long form format needs the love you want to give it. We are here, we will consume, notifications are on and we are part of your journey. Stay blessed!!!

I am so excited for this change! I just found your channel recently and I love your videos. I just relate to you so easily. I have started binging all of your content and definitely look forward to your new content of BTS and things you use personally etc. Those are things I am always looking for because I am one of those people who knows "all the things" but struggle to execute them proficiently. I agree when you say that you are doing it for yourself and that this will be good for you. Just be careful that people won't spend a lot of time with content that does not do good or they don't gain something from, whether it be entertaining, inspirational, or educational. Please always keep in mind, "What's in it for them?" when you select your content as you try to incorporate yourself's own interest in the equation. Nevertheless, it will work as long as you attract and keep attracting the audience you want to attract.

Hi Millie, so nice to see you here again and I have to say thank you for your honesty. I totally understand you why you wanted to do something different and more fun. I totally support you and cannot wait to see your new content. I just started with social media as a science communicator (I am really old with my nearly 32 years, I just started late ;-P ) and always wanted to do it in a fun way. I learned a lot from you like strategies or what to try out so the algorithm pics you up. More importantly to me, how the social media game actually works. As a fulltime scientist, I never was really interested in this section but after some reflection of my life situation, I realized I was missing something and that was creativity and to communicate what great breakthroughs are coming for us and how we can actually improve our health or just learn something new about our body. I love the mix of science with medical things and I tried to apply your strategies on it. It kinda worked but it is a long way. But I was devastated when starting with IG. I am not a niche, I am a being with many interests and I knew that my content as well as my podcast are two things I want to do on RU-vid as well. So I really applaud for your brave steps ahead. I dont think you dont have to leave IG entirely but having YT be your main platform but your team can cut bitesize clips from your YT videos and convert them to IG reels and posts where theres less time on IG but still showing a presence for your followers that haven't found you yet on YT. Thats how I originally found you (from IG a couple of days ago) and now have subscribed to your YT channel 😊❤

Thank you! I’ve definitely spent years and years experimenting. I love my brand but I don’t want to stop experimenting on all platforms because it gives you so much value information. I’ve learned it’s ok to fail a million times because I learn from it. Discovering my brand took years of creating, throwing away, starting over, & learning to be ok with failure. Once I even challenged myself to create 6 different types of videos, threw them out there, & watched what happened because I needed to discover what my audience responded too. That's great that you're thinking in this way. The devil's advocate in me (here's my self-sabotage self) points out the problem between wanting to do content that YOU'RE interesting in versus creating content that advances your channel goals (more subs and likes) and thus profits. That's what I'm battling with now with my channel. Not that I have many subscribers, lol, but that's what's on my mind.

I found you via educational content so it's my jam but lately I DO enjoy the BTS videos of content creators like their onboarding process for clients or brand sponsorships and business expenses and things like that! Can I just say how much I loved how you went with the flow when the beeping started? 😄🤩 Also: my tip for accountability is having a small accountability group of other business owners in different fields, where you meet regularly to share ideas, brainstorm, help one another out, and keep each other accountable. Oh, and lastly: if I weren't such a fan of these videos, I would have clicked off at the sound of the marker on paper at the intro. Instead, I just jumped forward. TERRIBLE sound.

I love how you WROTE IT ALL DOWN -hands down the first step to really making a solid strategy at the root of ones business is fully understanding how it works and were its going conceptually! . note: the ppl who suffer the most, often blaming the algorithm & platform changes on their channel/business suffering after a period of success but Im w Millie here, I strongly believe its the inability of successful People/Brands to evolve. - its their refusal to evolve and come up w new content, products, or strategies so the audience stays interested. . As for myself I went thru this before getting started. After being way too broad on my Art account, it was causing me to be stuck, & pulled in diff directions. So I created this account to learn Social Media & Tech News for a year! Its been fun & it resulted in me actually keeping this account…🖤 . >> As for my Art acct - after much brainstorming - so many charts, arrows, Ideas & Concepts -it allowed me to realize I actually have 3 Pillars Im drawn too! & That was my split and lack of focus. But instead of immediately niching down & choosing now, I split my niches into 3 usernames - It took 2mo, but so worth it for focus, not just where I will create but for consuming content w these hyper focused algorithms. . In terms of multiple platforms… -I researched style, audience and just where I like to be. *Experts say its good to have one to start OR better yet one timely and one evergreen* So out of the 4 platforms I choose, 2 are timely & two evergreen, -so I choose one each to start creating content for this year. Now between 2 platforms & 3 niches its A LOT. Id rec starting w one niche but Im gonna go were I naturally put my energy & like Millie is doing, cut & evolve as I go.
