Hello Bo, many thanks for your informative films, they have very good information that is clearly explained. It's very helpful to me, I wouldn't know how else to get the info.
Hi Ron, I am glad these videos are helpful. My motivation for this channel is to help spread the information in English on how to use the Märklin system. So I am very glad it helps. Please do not hesitate to share tips'n'tricks as well. Enjoy ;-)
Hi Erick, The Märklin Central Station 3 supports multiple protocols (MM, MFX and DCC), so you can control DCC locomotives as well. This means the CS3 can be used for N-scale. However, the CS3 outputs a voltage of 18-19V to the track, which is more than some N-scale decoders support (16V). I asked Märklin about the compatibility and they stated that this is not a problem for most modern decoders but can be an issue with some brands of N-scale decoders and older N-scale decoders. They pointed out that Minitrix decoders have no issue. I have not tried it myself. I have multiple Minitrix locomotives, but I do not remember trying them with the CS3 - I have used the Trix MS2 that came with a Minitrix starter set I have. Perhaps a good topic for a video ;-) Note: Some DCC decoders do not like Märklin Motorola (MM2) and MFX protocols, so you can change the settings in the CS3 to DCC only if you hit this issue. Hope this helps. Enjoy ;-)
Hello Bo. If for some reason you (I) insist on having an specific adress for one or more trains I have heard that you can avoid the MFX address by changing some CV (i think, that it is 37, but I am not sure) Could you at some time describe the method in a video ? It will still be nice to have the functions transferred. I intend to make it work with Windigipet so maybe it would be nice that the address were stable and known. Happy newyear, ;o)
Hi Georg, Sorry for the delay on answering this question. I have not had time to test this out as I am very busy at work, so I will give you a short answer here you can try out. Please email me if you need a longer and more precise answer. In short I see two methods: 1. disable MFX in the CS3, then all locomotives must be added manually and you can specify the address. 2. 1. disable MFX/MM in the CS3, and put the locomotive on the programming track. Then connect to DCC3 - now you can change the CVs to disallow MFX. Then set the address and add the locomotive manually. you can now re-enable MFX in the CS3 for other locomotives/devices. I am not sure there is a way to change the address of a locomotive loaded by MFX, but if you disable MFX in CS3 you might be able to. I am not sure why you need to manually set the locomotive address as most software load the information directly from the CS3? However, if you are doing frequent tests it can be useful I guess. Hope this helps! Enjoy ;-) Bo
Hi again Bo :) tomorrow me and my CS3+ will visit the local marklinshop, and hopefully I get an answer. however I am still trying to figure out why my signals and turnouts starts blinking. I just did a tests, my entire layout w alot of turnouts ,but no signals. deleted all locos. restarted the CS. everything is perfect. then install a loco (mfx) and it got an adr already in use by a turnout. and it all starts blinking again. I have to uninstall the loco again to get all turnout-lantherns to behave as they should. so I think it has something to do with an adr conflict. all turnouts have locked adr now. So is there a way to decide or change adresses for mfx locos ?
Hi Oddvin, I hope you have luck with the visit to the marklinshop. MFX addresses are completely automatic and automatically deconflicts. Accessories and locomotives have two different Märklin Motorola (MM) address ranges so you can have a turnout and a locomotive with same address. In addition to that MFX is a independent address range that does dot conflict with MM. One thought I had is that you keep deleting and trying. Have you tried to erase everything in the CS3. You do that by restoring the "Startconfig". This will completely erase and reset the CS3. After that the MFX needs a refresh. You do that by using "Rediscover lost mfx locomotives". Hope you find the issue. Enjoy ;-)
@@ModelTrainFun I brought with me 5 turnouts and 3 locos and my own CS3+. it was just the same as before, but however we swapped CS3+ with the shops one and it all worked perfect, no flashing etc. so back home today I did reset my CS3. and the same again. just now i tried again to free up adr on turnouts/signals after unistalling everything first, then reinstalled the loco before searhing for mfx items, all turnous/sign got new adr, but still the same problem. I have tried everything, seems like I have to return to my good old MS2 while sending the CS for repairs. but thanx anyway for your help and tips :)
@@OddvinBidne It sounds like you have been unlucky and got a CS3 that does not work. I really wonder what is wrong with it?? Indeed it should be sent for repairs. Dont forget to update your MS2 before sending the CS3 off to repairs. Enjoy ;-)
@@ModelTrainFun I just did upgrade my MS,and actually used it for the first time in combo w the CS,and it actually worked fine for about 3 mins, and back to flashing again lol :) so now I have an upgraded MS to use while the CS is for repairs.
Hello today i got my first train set its the same as in one off the old videos you have but how to i swap train icon from a tender train to a tank engine?
Hi - glad you god your first trains set. I hope you like it and be careful of the model train bug that might bite you! You can change the icon by first selecting the locomotive in question on the MS2, then hit SHIFT+Locomotive -> Change Loco -> Loco Symbol and choose the one you like. You can also see it here: ru-vid.com/video/%D0%B2%D0%B8%D0%B4%D0%B5%D0%BE-dAj2obQpdDI.html Remember to use the buttons to the right to scroll up and down and the buttons on the left to select. Enjoy ;-)
@@ModelTrainFun i am but today i clened the pickups for power and Under the bogie a small copar spring plate fell ute and it broke what is it for and can i get a new one? And have a good day
@@pettsonochfindusdvd4787 springs near the bogie? Sounds like a tension for the coupler so it springs back into place? For Märklin spart parts are listed in the manual as part of the "explosion" diagram of the model. Spare part numbers are listed. For newer models you can search on the Märklin website in the product database: www.maerklin.de/en/service/product-database To the right of the picture you find the "Downloads" with Manuals and spare parts lists. You can order spare parts at your favorite model train shop on on the same page from Märklin. Enjoy ;-)
