Change the bajonet on AF-s Nikkor 18-105mm 

Just finished my repair after waiting for two and a half months for the part to arrive in the UK via Nikkon Uk from Japan. £4.20 for the part and a 10 minute fix and it works perfectly again. Thank you for the video it made the job very simple.

These mounts used to cost $1 in the US, directly from Nikon USA. We used to buy them in 100's. It's a 5 min repair with cleaning included. Now the situation is a bit more difficult unfortunately - chinese mounts from ebay are so crappy it's hard to believe (cause focusing problems due to different thickness). There are some reasonably good ones, but it's always a lottery. Your customers love you NIKON! I can hear their opinions every day... It's a nasty type of love though...:) Nice and helpful video Mike!

The plastic is so thin so that IT will break before the lens or the camera will. Think of it in the same way cars have "crumple zones."

I have a Nikon 18-55 and need to replace the bayonet. Is there a metal bayonet from another Nikon lens that will work?

any idea why this part at 5:26 with two orange stripes wont move? it seems to be literally glued to the rim event after i removed all the screws, it moves a little on its left side and not at all on the right

Hi Kenneth, I accidentally broke the tiny contact cable from the mounting piece during the process of reassembly. Can you please advise how I can re-attach the tiny cable?

5 years ago My Fathers camera had started fungi ! the retailer said that don't open if you open you cant calibrate the focus and the lens is useless only the nikon company can do in factory! its be sitting in the store room for 3 years ! its mine now 😈

I recommend genuine mounts from Nikon, because the copies from China (ebay) aren't accurate to size and are made of cheap, floppy plastic.

i actually dropped my camera once and the lens broke off XD
