Never in my 74 years have I thought through how I would prefer to spend my entire day. Mind-boggling concept! Usually I try to focus on tasks to be done, not the whole ambience and environment. I stopped the video to consider it and write this comment. Thank you !

Rachel, This morning I realized how much minimalism is like the art of sculpture. You remove that which is not the object you are creating. ❤️

When you think of all the mothers who are pulling their hair out daily it’s easy to understand why. Most of us have far more than we need and the extra stresses come from trying to keep things tidy and organized while raising children. If they could cut down all possession by even half think of the weight that would be lifted off their shoulders. I wish people were thinking like this years ago or that it had been something we had all heard about. I’m sure my life would have been easier as a mother with a chronic health condition raising a very busy little boy in a house really too big for us.🤔

When my son was young I read The Secret and also watched the video. It changed my mindset in how to deal with my very stubborn son who also had ADHD. I was so frustrated all the time with him so I had to rethink of ways to deal with him. I started with more positive ways to talk to him. Instead of sending out such negativity into the world I started rephrasing things. I found this helped in the way he responded to me. There’s a saying and I’m not sure if I have it right but it’s something like if you say you can or you say you can’t, you’re right. This is exactly what your telling us. If you have negative thoughts, your outcome will be negative but if you think positive you will have a positive outcome. You really have to retrain your brain.😊❤️🙏

Whether you think you can or you can’t , you’re probably right. My Dad always qoutes this and says it’s from Henry Ford

I'm loving the encouragement as I work toward finding my clutter threshold. I don't want to be a minimalist. I just want to be able to manage my home.

Thank you. I will listen to this video again when I get to the sewing and crafting part of my decluttering. Much like sentimental items, I have been mentally preparing myself as I continue decluttering other areas of my home. I know logically that it's time to let it go, but emotionally I need to prepare and shift my mindset. I've listened to other videos on this topic, but yours has broken through. I think that means I'm almost ready. Yay!!!

I have found your channel suddenly and after watching some of your videos I fall in love with your understanding of life and actual purpose of minimalism. I am surprised to see that I have many similarities with your thoughts. But yes you have realized the advantages and implementation of minimalism in your way and I'm yet not. Struggling with wrong life style, stressed office work and a messy house. I have a 4.5 yrs old autistic son. Struggling with many things in life. Your points are very motivating.I Want to connect with you over Instagram . Today I have dropped a DM there. Keep it up your good work and share this valuable suggestion from your realization and experience.

Think of all the interesting and fun stuff you could do if you weren't spending so much time decluttering and having endless conversations about decluttering and being a minimalist. Your so called fantasies could become reality. You could actually plant some vegetables in the garden, sew a quilt, get the craft stuff out of the basement and do some super fun, educational activities with your kids. You could spend more time with your friends and family, BBQs, walks in the park, board games. Chuck the journal, turn up the music, dance like crazy, and if people want to criticise your untidy house - tell them to go get a life.

🤯 I just realized watching and listening to this video, I must of spent at least 1000 💷 on storage boxes and shelving systems , just to store stuff, It's all sorted on the shelves , but it's boxes of stuff I haven't got the time to get around to using , making ??? Because there is so much of it , And it's ugly it looks like the landing in my house is a warehouse, not how I pictured in my head a beautiful bookcase and desk with my most treasured items and hobbies to do . I let it sneak up and bite me on the butt, and overwhelm me , today I think is the day to push back , and grab back my freedom. Day 1🤦

“One layer at a time.” Yes!!! I have been stepping into minimalism for the last few years, and my family has really taken to it within the last few months. We are talking about a move abroad, and that has really helped us focused our efforts and thoughts to less.

@@Nourishingminimalism we made the move abroad! We brought 14 suitcases of stuff, including kitchen wares and bedding for us all. We stored some stuff at my in-laws, like photos and a few tools, just in case we want to go back, and until we find our forever place. Thanks for all the inspiration you give!

I have been toying with the journaling class idea ... And then as I was watching this video I said (out loud 😂) "so what's the difference between your "why" and your "fantasy"?? And then you answered it so profoundly, that I literally said, "alright Rachel!! I'll buy your class!!" 😂🤣😂 And I did.

Interesting as always. 😃 But - how can I find a difference between "ideal" and "fantasy"? If I look back, I doubt that the difference is even stable. It looks more than ideas about my ideal life turning into fantasies and most of the time having no idea at all about how my life should be. What I think of when I make some room in my stuff, is: It's room for possibilities.

My prob is I have 5 homeschooled kids so I don't want to get rid of stuff like crafts and art supplies only to find out a week later my kid now has a passion for drawing and wants to try out clay sculpting. Not sure a good method to attack this

I'm not a mother but perhaps keep it limited to what could fit on one or two craft carts? The items would be accessible and neatly corralled. Just an idea🌞
