Very interested in all that you are saying. There is one little bit of feedback I want to give you..... there is no need to apologise for potentially 'boring' people with what you have to say. It is something you say from time to time and speaking as one who greatly admires what you do and has been following your journey for a few years now I can assure you that there is nothing 'boring' about either your message or the way you put it across. Don't ever apologise for being who you are or what you say - I promise there is absolutely no need. Journey on.

I realize there is an assumption that people are busy and have a short attention span, but I am becoming aware that the opposite is true. People are desperate for real, sincere discussion and will spend several hours focused on listening to a message. A very good example of this is Jordan Peterson, a professor, a physiologist, an author and scientific explorer of human nature. His lectures, seminars and interview are by no mean simple or short, they require a lot of focus, but contrary to the popular belief that society is developing a shorter attention span, the growing number of subscribers says the world has enough of sound bites and is thirsty for real conversation and conveying of ideas. There is a time a place to be succinct, but there is also a time to engage the mind. I would be truly surprised if your subscribers on the whole did not enjoy the challenge of self examination, it is how we grow as humans.

I love getting into conversations. I do feel a lot of people have become disconnected from one another, and they find it hard to talk to one another- which is why I get so, so happy when someone wants to carry a *real* conversation with me. I long to have nice, long conversations with people- rather than sit on my phone all day or such...

This is the video that changed it all for me. I never thought I needed to work on myself until you showed the connection that working on myself will improve my horsemanship (and that’s all the motivation I needed!). Since this video I’ve taken up meditation, tried to adopt an attitude of gratitude, and am more aware of my judgmental thoughts... and I really do think my horses have noticed. Maybe I’m just noticing more things to be grateful for, but they seem more content to be with me than before I made the effort to improve my mindfulness. Thank you for inspiring not just a change in my horsemanship, but a change in my entire life outlook as well! #journeyon20

My motto.... We have to be the change we want to see in our horse If we want our horse to be calm......we have to develop inner calm If we want our horse to be soft ........ If we want our horse to trust...we have to be trustworthy If we want our horse to be flexible..... If we want our horse to be light..... You can’t have a calm horse with an anxious person..!

Been watching many of your videos. At 75, a psychotherapist/marriage counselor and equine therapy provider, "Change Yourself To Change Your Horse" is right on. Looks like lots of viewers, great. Mostly I run into, "I'm scared, I can't, I'll never make it etc" Horse therapy, ground work and finally riding desensitizes all that and more. Winston Churchill: "The outside of a horse is good for the inside of a man - and woman." Truly something magical about that. Thank you. Gary Hornfeld

This is my favorite WS video even though most of it isn’t really about horses. What makes it my fav is that it changes the way I think about my relationship with my horse and how I can be a better partner. Riders spent 99% of their time thinking about how they can fix their horses when really we need to think about how we can better adapt to them regardless of discipline or your riding abilities. Bonus is maybe you’ll be less judge mental of others and yourself. #JourneyOn20

I am trying to learn ethical/scientific/loving horsemanship and so far I have been taking little bits from a bunch of people but you are the real deal rolled into one. You exude humbleness and wisdom in a very palatable way which doesnt come off condescending or abrasive. If I could have a horsemanship trainer in my area like you I would have the best of the best. This is your best. Good for everyone - no horse needed. I lived in St.Thomas, U.S.Virgin Islands. Had horses - taught riding and with a others started the 1st Horse Show - had a group of riders - we led the Carnival Parade for many years. Had instructors come to the Islands for riding instruction for the horse and rider- your info in this clip would have been so helpful for all - but, I believe it's never too late. Thanks again for your open mindedness and this valuable clip.

I am a senior equestrian, a long time meditator in the Buddhist tradition, a huge fan of Brene Brown and I have studied Eastern thought for 15 years. I am also familiar with CBT. There is some synchronicity going on here and I intend to follow it as I have never heard this approach from any other trainer. That really helped. Last video (the one you were talking about) I got very upset with myself. Why couldn’t I be happy with myself. Why couldn’t I be calm. Why couldn’t I be at peace. Why couldn’t I meet my own standards. You’ve made me relize I have so many judgemental thoughts. Mostly about myself, but alot about others too. There’s this negativity weighing me down. I am definitely going to try this. As a 15 year old I feel like I face tons of judgement from everyone around me. Eapecially those older than me. I still have so much to learn and yet I have trouble accepting that. I feel like I should have already been better. I feel like I’m lacking behind everyone else. Wich mostly has to do with me dropping out of school due to physical illness and being unable to go back due to mental illness. I have disconnected from everyone my age. So much so that I find it real hard to reconnect. So much has changed. I have found acceptance in alot of things already. But I still have a long way to go.

"Change your self to change your horse" - if i really have to pick one... It is more the whole journey of WarwickSchiller over the years that has inspired, encouraged and supported me in my own journey. Working on my internal energy and changing my attitude& perspective has helped me enormously in all aspects of my life with horses ( and other creatures ) but particularly brought on a change for the better with one young gelding. I went from, when handling him, anxious & defensive to present & having fun and so did he. Well, most of the time, it is a journey after all.. #journeyon20

This reminds me of something in Buddhism called 'the single eye'. I am no philosopher or theologian (if theology applies to Buddhism, which I doubt) but, as I understand it, part of attaining the single eye is learning that what we initially see as boundaries are artificial constructs that limit our ability to see reality. If we are bumbling about without the single eye, inevitably we are responding to what is in our head versus what is real. So. What this has to do with dealing with horses (which I rode from the late 1960s to the middle 1980s) or dogs (I am a dog trainer) is that horses and dogs find it difficult to figure out our behaviour because a lot of what we are responding to is inside our own minds. The horse or dog cannot see what is in our mind but, being mostly generous of spirit, they do their best to figure us out and accommodate us. Tangential thought: there is a teacher called the Hugging Guru, a woman nicknamed Amma (which means 'mother'). A friend of mine had the opportunity to see her and decided to join the line for a hug from her while half thinking that it was a silly thing to do and how could it possibly change anyone?! And yet, in the moment Amma hugged her, she felt a profound change in herself. She said that it was like experiencing some sort of eternal, infinite love and compassion, passed along by a simple huge such as a mother might hug a child.

I’ve been on this inner journey for most of my life, and I agree if you do the work, the inner work first, pretty soon your self love and respect starts to become you, if you know what I mean. Not only have I begun to think like a horse, my relationship with them are so much more trusting and respectful. And with people too! I’ve become a better person, much more patient, compassionate, loving and accepting. Inner work truly does change your energy, which of course what your horse tunes into the mom not you enter their dynamic, so to speak, and the proof is how your horse mirrors you. It’s amazing and fun and I am actually happy most of the time! You explained things very articulately, thank you so much for sharing this video!!🙏🌻🐴

If you put good energy out you receive good energy back, pretty simple. I have been practicing what you did at the airport everywhere I go for a few years now, and it works. Ok. That left me in tears at the end, even while I was laughing at Warwick and his friend's self discoveries (e.g. the feeling of being on drugs simply by switching from judging others to blessing them). I have been stuck with this saying/idea (not my own) that "you can't lead a charge if you think you look stupid on a horse". Couple that with the similar thought (again, not originating from me) that "no one can blow an uncertain trumpet" and you can see how fake I have felt in my own life for so long. Have been doing a lot of grief work and energy work lately and what was demonstrated and expressed by Warwick and the horse reacting to his new and improved (positive and nonjudgemental) energy is the icing on the cake. Thanks for sharing this part of your journey with us, sir. Very timely and much appreciated!

That was a bit judgemental, just as I am being now. See the ease of getting into the negativity spiral? If you want anything or anyone outside of yourself to change, just change yourself. Every thing and every one will have to change in response. Be Happy! Every thing that happens in your world is a reflection of your inner self. "The horse is the mirror of the rider", a classical horsemanship saying, says it all. My riding instructor, and best friend, told me thousands of times, "Tattoo that on the inside of your eyelids"! You can change your world but only by changing yourself. Trying to change someone or something outside of you is in itself a judgement, that that someone or something is not okay as it is. However, good judgement is needed to see where we need to change. And we need to take responsibility for our own actions/influences, not blame poor outcomes on others. Take charge of your SELF and change your universe in the process.

Brilliant Warwick! You get the shame thing. If guilty, you can make amends. For shame, there's nothing you can do. The lowest frequency emotion and it runs the world. Like judgment, once you notice it, you see it is everywhere. Since nobody wants to feel shame they end up ""passing" it to others. I watched a family once. Dad came home from work upset. He insulted his wife who later said something belittling to the daughter who hit her little brother and later the boy kicked the dog. Awareness is vital but also willingness to feel the emotions as a way to heal.

G’day Warwick, Robyn, and Co, thanks for the great insight and psych lesson, you really do get to the nitty gritty of an issue. It all begins and ends with self awareness 24/7/365. You both and wee too are all on a journey of learning who we truly are and who we truly want to be. Life is all about lessons, we’ve all got to have the downs or contrast to know how awesome the up are. Personally I’ve been through the mill just like everyone else, but for me 56 weeks of hypnotherapy 3x daily “Marisa Peer” and I now have better updated programming and phenomenal coping skills. I am aware when I begin to negatively judge, and change my thoughts to 1 thing I do like about... whatever.. I am truly thankful and grateful as it brings to the surface another pattern that I get to change. Other sayings “Bless you” ~ “forgive me, as I forgive you” not necessary to say to a person, as it works it’s magic letting go just saying it to yourself. We all can be jerks at times, but we’re human and do muck up, so forgiving yourself is priority then forgive others. Warwick & Robyn I can see why you are together to teach learn and evolve, while playing with magnificent creatures who have their own set of teach learnings to evolve through. Thanks again, Much love and light to all, xox Victoria Australia

I love DBT the theory being 2 opposing things can be true at the same time. If nothing else the one thing that could affect everyone working with horses or people is called DEAR MAN. The lowdown is that you want your outcome be true, but naturally when dealing with people; the other person also wants their outcome to be true. So DEAR MAN is a practice of letting the other person also win while getting what you want or need. It’s not manipulation because your intent is to make both parties happy, contact, calm....etc

‘Change yourself to change your horse’ is a video I’ve resonated with the most. I love exploring inner landscapes and how that relates to our outer world. It validated so many things for me and I felt so inspired to find someone on the same journey of inner awareness and being able to relate it back to horses. I’ve been practising meditation, mindfulness and gratitude for over 18 months. I also love Brene Brown. Even though I felt quite aware of my own thoughts it was this video that highlighted to me how many judgemental thoughts I have about myself. Shedding light on this has allowed them so start dissolving. It’s helped boost my confidence and has allowed me to trust myself more with my horses and where I’m at in my journey with them, I’m sure my horses are happier with the more relaxed me. Talking about and working on our inner world is just as important as the outer world. I believe you’re leading the way in shifting the paradigm and inspiring people to be vulnerable and more authentic with themselves and their horses. Thank you. #journeyon20

This is absolutely my favorite of all your videos. Once you get this, the rest falls into place. Resetting my mind has helped me greatly with my young OTTB. I am seeing his reactions and behaviors in a whole new way. #journeyon20

Great video, sharing, thanks. So true, I think each person, horse, critter, can feel, know what each is feeling. So when we are upset, tired, happy, relaxed...others can tell. So you being more peaceful, relaxed, the horses are sensing that. If the horse is relaxed around you, than the owner, human, needs to look at themselves and see if they are tense, angry, and change that to peaceful and happy, or what ever emotion they find. If all humans will change to be happy, loving, caring, peaceful, the world will change for the better. Maybe in your clinics, focus on the humans and their emotions, and changing the tenseness to peacefullness. See how that effects the horses. The owners, humans need to be open to looking at themselves, and change. Personal growth is a good thing.

I hope you come back to Clark County in Southwest Washington State I had heard of you but not watched any of your videos. You may also enjoy Linda Kohanov 's book, The Tao of Equus. May take a bit to get through some parts of it but it has some very good things in it about emotional honesty, etc. I recommend all my students read it.

Yes this is « to become a better person » at my opinion it’s coming with the years... but some people don’t understand what’s happening to their soul... horses are so receptives, they know immediatly wo you are and how you feel inside...greatings from switzerland 👍🏻🐴🇨🇭

Yes! Brene, saw TED talk, have ALL! her books & highlighted! Brilliant! Follow Jane she has helped me sooo much recently! She is so compassionate & nonjudgmental. I love her!!! Best video you've done. Yes I've watched yours you've mentioned. Jane is amazing! Ive had great success got through my most difficult time with my horse. What you mention about your competition is what has started with me but I'm STILL working thru my difficult time with my horse putting lots of little successes together. I meditate. I believe the best horse men & woman have a practice that's just not your conventional meditation but same principle. Your favourite story is the rabbit story. I read my horse better now re thresholds. Thank you

Great video. I always taught my kids, "a smile is free and can change someone that may be feeling down you never know" Btw, no disrespect to your wife, but I hope I run into you in the airport with that eye smile. You'll get one back.

Hello I am a 72year old woman and have just listened to your talk. I really understand what you are saying. But we have to keep reminding ourselves to do this. because the itty bitty shitty voice will come back again. Thank you for this I really enjoyed this

This is so cool. I have been working on mindset with a horse trainer. Now the idea of ‘mindset’ is everywhere! Synchronicity 🎉

I had this problems too. Every time I wanted to do something there is always this voice that I gonna fail and I am not good enough etc. What I learned from myself is that if I want something to do and this thoughts come to my mind it makes me determine that I need that to do. I want to change and even my family put these negative thoughts in me all the time if I am sure, what if you can't do this or whatsoever. If I hear that now it makes me more motivated that I am on the correct way and I need to do this. I don't go there and just do this but I think of everything and what consequences it has like getting my first horse and learn riding. There are always these negative people like it is expensive and do you know what you are doing and so on. I just say to myself that I thought about it and I wanna do this. It sounds silly but I think right now in my life I need a horse to teach me some very important lessons. It is just a feeling I have since I watched so many horse videos.

Thank you so much for this. It is very interesting and I so needed this information. I truly did not know other people had those voices in their head. I need to and will work on this every day that I am out around people. I believe it may also be a weapon against depression. God bless you Warwick.

Thank you for this! All animals will choose to follow my husband over me and I've been trying to figure out why and change my energy the past few years. I discovered that I am codependent, which means I'm constantly looking for any negative thoughts, feelings, judgments from anybody around me. Then I do whatever I can to keep the peace. This makes me feel calm, when everyone around me is ok. I've been doing other things to break myself of this, but you just made me realize the whole thing is my OWN perception of others feelings based off of my shame. It's not even reality!

This is SO good! Our minds can be our friend, or our worst enemy -- and it can affect everyone around us, especially our horses. Our horses always tell on us, sometimes within seconds. Great tips.

If you want to take it to the next level I recommend eating a whole food plant based. In the beginning it’s exhilarating, and builds from there. Hey, horses do it!
