Hi, just wanted to thankyou for this quick and easy guide to battery change over. We are currently on holiday in France and our previous battery has just died on us, so we have had to replace it ourselves! Your tutorial has helped with a quick efficient swap. Thankyou 😊

Hi, I bought a new caravan battery from Tayna this week at a good price and was worried about removing the old one and fitting the new one. Thanks to this your video being very clear and simple to follow I amazed myself in doing the deed without any bloomers and afterwards topping up the charge to prove to myself I had done it correctly . Nothing went bang and all was hunkydorey. So many thanks for your easy to follow instructions, everthing went smoothly. Much Appreciated, Cheers.

Hi. Thanks for watching. I am so glad the Vlog was of use to you and you tackled the battery change yourself. There are a few jobs around the Caravan with a bit of research can by carried out. Thanks for commenting and Happy Camping. James

Hi James, I was always taught the other way round for safety.....ie..When disconnecting the cables from the old battery, disconnect the negative first 'Black', then the positive 'Red'. Connect the new battery in the reverse order, positive then negative.” When you are replacing your car or caravan battery. Enjoy many of your blogs Chris

Hello Chris, thanks for commenting and pointing that out, yes I agree that Negative first is the recommended way for disconnecting batteries in cars etc, as the negative is connected to the chassis. & a good rule of thumb for caravans, however the safety risk is not there with the caravan as the negative is not connected to the chassis, But good rule of thumb to follow though negative first though. Thanks again for commenting and stay safe.

Hi, Just watched your video (thanks for posting) and noticed you left the red shipping plug in place. Did you remove this afterwards as I read that if left in it can damage the battery? Regards Ian

Hi, Thanks for watching. Well spotted. I didn't and haven't removed those small red bungs. As I understand, then they are there for connecting a vent hose to if fitted. I have used this battery now for very 2 1/2 years and had no problem 😄 . I could be wrong, of course, and they do need removing

@@CaravanEscapades101 I've just replaced the leisure battery in my motorhome and when I received the new one there were at least 3 warning labels telling me I must remove the red transit bung from the vent hole, otherwise my battery could be damaged. I assume the vent hole is there to allow any build up of gases to escape but if they can't they will build up inside. On the other hand the bung wasn't difficult to remove so I would think that any internal pressure would push it out anyway. Is the bung still in place on yours or has it popped out?

@@tycho3471 Hi Thanks for the information, You Know I am not sure if the bung is still in place, I will take a look and let you know. Thanks for the Update, James

Thank you. It will be if the battery charger in the caravan is switched on. We generally leave it switched on as its default position. Thanks for watching and commenting.

What size of spanner would you use to tighten the battery nuts?

Hi looking some help/info. I’ve connected my caravan up to the electric at my house but on my zig marque 1 my reader is saying 10volts. Do I leave it connected to my electric if so how long for? Also do you leave the battery switched on when trying. , trying to get use to everything. Many thanks

Hi, if you are connected to the Maina at 240, then your battery should be showing at least 13v as the charger should be working and charging the battery. Is the Charger switched on. It may be that your battery has had it, especially if it is showing 10 Volts. Do you have access to a multimeter, and can you check what is at the battery terminals with the mains connected and without. If the mains is on and the charger is on, then you should be getting at least 13 at the battery terminals. I hope that helps

Hi James. Another good blog. Will be informative for the less experienced. We had our previous van from new, for 13 years and only replaced the battery once. Only time we charged the battery was shortly before we went away, but didn't have a tracker fitted. So in reality no serious drain apart from the alarm. Which was only activated if we forgot to disable it when we went in. I am intrigued by the lights you've installed under your van ?? Sounds like a bit of LED bling to me. Are you a closet boy racer in denial. Please explain ???? Chris

Hi Guy's Thanks for watching and thanks for your comment. It was the first time using the New Go Pro 9 with the Lens Mod fitted, I don't think i had it quite set up correctly, so I wasn't overly happy with the way it looked, I am still on a learning curve so hopefully get it better next time. Yes you have sussed me out, I have installed LED Lights under the caravan. they are controlled remotely and you can have all sorts of settings and colours. I tell myself I have done it for Darcie-May our daughter as she loves things like that. When we get the chance to go out again, I will get some Video footage and do a blog. I know its not to everyone's taste.

Hi They are totally Insulated Connectors, Fully Insulated covers, So wouldn't have got a shock. Well Spotted though.

Absolutely impossible to get a shock from 12v, don't worry about it.
