Changing damper plate on sailboat with pathfinder marine motor

I was getting some noise from my damper plate and knew it was time to change it. It wasn't an easy job because the entire bell housing and motor mounts had to come off to get to it.

Where were you able to order that plate from? Doing it now and had to get creative with 3 bolt plate and drilled my own holes. Could not find a plate that would bolt on to what you called the adapter plate.

Thanks for the video, mate! I’m in the middle of replacing the damper (and transmission) on my Pathfinder diesel. I was thinking I’d have to pull the whole engine, but I’ll try just removing the bellhousing.

Down In The Islands I’m in San Carlos, Sonora, Mexico. On the Sea of Cortez. I got the damper plate and a new transmission installed, and I’m splashing tomorrow. Thanks again.

Nice, just curious, I thought the motor mounts would be rubber to isolate the vibrations from the hull. Also I wonder how easy theses marine diesel engines are to work on. I have worked on cars before but would not want that complexity out at sea.

+Terry Peake at 3:08 into the video I show why it needed to be replaced. It had lots of slop in it and the springs where about to fall out.

Terry Peake If you can get at it fairly easy its worth it to replace it. I also had a lot of clatter chatter noise coming form the bell housing area before I replaced it. Now with the new mounts and plate its smooth.

+Down In The Islands was messy. Took two of us to lift it. The centre of the drive plate slines were stripped bare for some reason. trying to order a new one now..
