I love wrenching on my cars but also finding the time can be tough. When I found out that my buddy Wes also need an oil change on his 997.1 GT3 also, it only made sense we did it at the same time.
We have wrenched on many cars and done oil changes on all sorts of models but this was our first time doing it on a GT3. We didn't the most important tool, which was the wrench to remove the oil filter cap. I suggest you guys getting one before starting, otherwise you are gonna waste a lot of time.
For the most part, its a straight forward oil change. We went with Mobil1 0w-40 because that is what OE recommends and we aren't tracking the cars. We ordered the Mahle filters on RM European and I think the filters were like $10 or so.
Make sure to put a quart of oil in the oil filter region to prevent dry starts.
Let us know how your experience. Was it similar to ours? Did you learn anything from our oil change?
