Excellent, concise video. The WEN manual was useless! This five minute video gave me everything I needed to get the pin-less blade working on my WEN within about 2 minutes. Thanks Tim. It's maybe not the easiest device to change blades on ... but it's a $80 scroll saw!! I suspect the fancy ones that cost 5-10 times as much probably have superior methods :) I'm gonna see what I can do to 3-d print a replacement for the bottom bracket. I think we can do a lot better ;)

Thanks for the Video... This video wasn't around when I first bought my WEN. Something to note is that, even though they don't show it for the newer saws, there are pin/pinless blade clamps that fit the new model WEN (replacing the pin end blade holders it comes with now) . I bought and use them instead of these hanging adapters that are very hard to use, especially for inside cuts where you only loosen the top blade holder. There are thumb bolts with plastic T nobs that work very well for tool-less blade changes also. I have found my WEN saw much easier to use since I converted to the "old" system. I really don't understand why WEN changed to this system when people use their saws to do intricate work which requires inside cuts and lots of loosening the top (or for top feeders) bottom blade for changing inside holes).

soulssong2u could you provide the information on where you bought the pin/pinless blade holder from and knobs?
@seanmcaleavy2369

Yeah, what Mathew Landis said. What was the point in bringing it up and then not giving any info on where to get it? This new system of pinless holder is so freaking annoying that it makes me not want to use the saw. I am doing intricate fretwork where I need to re-feed the blade every few minutes and it takes way longer to undo, feed, and re-attach the blade. It sucks. Whoever came up with this design should be fired and whoever greenlighted this piece of shit should be drawn and quartered.
@soulssong2u
@soulssong2u 6 лет назад
Sure Matthew. There are a few places to get them. WEN sells them but they have been out of stock for awhile. These are the same ones, just different part number (and work for both upper and lower on the WEN). You will need to remove the side panel to get to it, however. . I used them on my WEN and they work great. www.partswarehouse.com/Ryobi-Supoprt-Upper-Blade-RY-089051003031-p/ry-089051003031.htm Here is where you can get the T-Bolt - It runs through the unthreaded side into the threaded side to pinch the blade holder onto the blade end. www.partswarehouse.com/Ryobi-Handle-Holder-RY-089051003079-p/ry-089051003079.htm

Sorry about that. Literally a minute before writing that I threw in the towel after two hours and gave up in frustration on my brand new scrollsaw. I shouldn't have taken it out on you, but that retardedly designed pinless blade clamp had me at my wit's end. Even when you know exactly how to work it, it is still the most awkward and time-consuming piece of crap that I have ever come across. So, once again, I apologize.

I've been debating buying a cheap scroll saw to decide if I need a better one. I saw one from King that looks identical and is the same price range and now that I see your video, if i buy it, I'm going to order some extra clips so I can have a bunch of blades ready to go with one end already secured, so I just have to thread it through then put the other end on. Thanks!

Nice explanation, however with this system it is very difficult to make internal cuts when the blade needs to be inserted through the workpiece, because the lower clamp falls off when trying to do this. Why can’t some company produce a mid-range scroll saw with a good clamping device like the one used e.g. by Pegas ??? 🤷🏼‍♂️😳😬 I returned a scroll saw to the shop for this reason.. disillusioned.

Thanks for your video. I just got the 3921. The pin on my pin less blade adaptors are not straight and are at an angle. I am having trouble getting the blade straight. Also the upper arm and lower arm have two threaded holes each for the blade holders and are not centered on the arms. Not sure this is correct or I received a lemon. Anyone else have 2 treaded holes on each arm? Hopefully I can contact them and ask.

How and where do I get those clips for the painless blade? My WEN scroll saw is model 3922 and it did not come with those clips. And you doing say what they are called so I don’t know what to look for

Great video, thanks. I wonder if there is a modification so when you have to make inside cuts and release the top clamp the bottom doesn't come off. That is a real pain. For now I use a clamp to hold the blade from coming off of the bottom.

My saw doesn't have the same metal piece the adapters are supposed to go on. The ones on there are to wide for the pieces to go on. Plus, Wen doesn't have those kits. The adapt pre are sold separately.

Hey Timothy, Wondering if you have any experience with wen 3922. I'm new to scroll sawing and went with this model cause it looked like wen listened to comments and made some design changes like the easy access side panel. However, it does not have the clips like you show in your video, rather the blades insert into blade holders top & bottom that are a solid part of the machine. I have tried everything I know to get pinless blades in there and they will not tighten. Didn't know with your experience whether you could help.

The Dewalt DW788 would fit that description. When I'm doing lots of internal/ detailed cuts that saw has a nice swing arm. I'll bet I can change a blade in 2-3 seconds.

@@TimothyLeMoine1Cor13_4-8 that’s awesome, I’ve been buying medium sized plywood and planned to create flat shapes such as hearts, stars or any type of shape and paint over it.
