Cheers buddy!! I used this advice to help me remove my faulty alternator on a 2003 FunCargo, tomorrow I shall try installing a new one. I’ll update my comment if it goes well! Edit- it went well!!!
@@jeremyhood mate!! It more than helped!!! I have just finished replacing the alternator now on it and it seems all good!!! Belt was squeaking like a mad crazy pig for a bit but after tightening that bolt and the others it seems ok! Thank you!! You may have saved me hundreds of dollars!!!
I just replaced my belt, working great now, I did have a problem as my socket was short so my ratchet was hitting the smooth wheel, i wound up getting a socket extender to get clearance and was able to loosen lower bolt. Thanks again, very helpful video.
Hint.... to tighten...notice there is a M8mm x 1.25 threaded hole midway on the adjuster-arm where the alternator top 12mm bolt sits ( at timeline 6:50, right next to your screwdriver). Put a 8mm x 1.25 hex bolt on from the left side ( as you view the car from the front) ...and use THAT as a leverage point.
thanks helpful. I'm trying to get that lower bolt rn but can't unscrew it. My sockets too short so breaker bar runs into things been trying all day. Where did you get that 1+ inch socket?
Sorry for the very late delay! Google stopped emailing me for comments. I'll have to check my settings and all. It came in a set from Harbor Freight Tools. I imagine any anti parts or hardware store would have one.
On my 2008 Yaris 1.3VVT-i the alternator is behind the engine, and the belt goes around the engine mount. Took I while to find the third bolt holding the engine mount to the engine - it's on the bottom side.
Okay but how do you actually do it because the freaking belt won't come over the alternator pulley. It's the right size belt but there just isn't enough slack to get over the pulley. God I wanna die rn
Did you loosen the 2 bolts that hold the alternator in place and push it back toward the back of the car (away from you as you're standing under the hood)? I talk about it at around 1:30 to 2:30. I hope that helps.
It's this one from Amazon: Perrycraft DS3245-B DynaSport 32" Wide x 45" Long Drill-in Installation Roof Rack (Black Finish) a.co/d/dSvn71r I beefed up the hardware, though. Instead of just screwing in from the top, I put stainless steel bolts all the way through the roof with large washers, lock washers, and nuts.
I've only seen 1 belt in it, but I'm not sure. I checked online and there only seems to be the 1 belt. There is also a timing chain, but I doubt it would squeal like a belt.
