Using a magnet to remove the batter was a life saver! Thanks for that tip!

The close-up image of the battery cover helped me spot how the battery contacts (which came out with the battery when I removed it) should be oriented inside the cover!

Very helpful, thank you. I just purchased a new cadence sensor (so I don't have to keep moving the one I have from trainer bike to outside bike). exactly I'm thinking (hoping) it's just the battery - the sensor is only a year old and CR2302 batteries seem to power everything else for absolutely ages, so I was surprised that apparently they only last a year in the Garmin cadence sensor.

Just replaced the battery and it works again! Funny how coincidence plays with your mind - I removed the old cadence sensor (physically, and from my Garmin and Zwift profiles) to test the new one, and then when the old one wouldn't work, I assumed it was something I had done wrong. Fate playing tricks with me.

Thank you very much, I normally just get mine changed when I get the bike serviced, but tried it for the first time. BTW, all I had to do was just tap the battery cap, and out fell the old battery.
@CyclingLabs
@CyclingLabs 2 года назад
Sounds like the battery cap may not have been properly secured from your last service. At least you'll now be able to do it and check it yourself.

Thank you so much. I was having trouble getting the battery out. I tried the magnet method and the battery flew out as the magnet approached it without me even touching the device.

Um, what kind of battery?
@CyclingLabs

Flawless Films LLC Didn’t realise that I hadn’t mentioned the battery type -it’s a CR2032. If you look closely at 2:17 mark you’ll see the battery type on the battery.

Changed my battery today and for the life of me I can't lock the battery cover into position. Just keeps popping out every time I turn it to lock no matter how hard I press. Anyone else had this issue?

Did you figure it out I’m so frustrated that a company like garmin has to make something so simple so darn difficult, I want to throw it against a wall 🤬🤬🤬
@nss9701
@nss9701 3 года назад
They do this on purpose so you would give up and buy a new one; they don't want us replacing batteries.

@CyclingLabs

Sometimes you may need to push down on the battery cover to get the machanism to lock in place properly.

This whole battery piece sucks. If I had known it was going to be this hard to put the darn battery back on I would have not bought it. The thing won’t close
@CyclingLabs
@CyclingLabs 3 года назад
I struggled as well - try doing it without the battery to get the hang of it - will make it much easier once you've got the battery in.

@@CyclingLabs Mine doesn't even close without battery, absolutely rubbish device. Can you pair another brands cadence sensor to a Garmin 530?
@CyclingLabs
@CyclingLabs 3 года назад
@@mariowillems1079 Whilst I don’t have direct experience with off brand sensors, my understanding is that any ant+ sensor should work. There is an FAQ page on the Garmin website which supports this suggestion.

Sure, the magnet trick is clever... but that CAN'T be the recommended/only solution. I can't get the battery out with anything and don't have a magnet! What a ridiculous design!
