Changing The Finale - Incredibles 2

Incredibles 2 was an entertaining but flawed movie.
And in my previous video, Rewriting Screenslaver, I suggested an alternate take on the film's villain that would have made the Screenslaver a more reasonable and compelling character. But that wasn't my only issue with the movie.
I found the hydrofoil finale to be a pretty big disappointment. So in this video, I attempt to rewrite the finale of Incredibles 2 and turn it into a crowd pleasing spectacle that follows up on the most interesting idea that Incredibles 2 never really did anything with.

It's beyond fitting, no only as a comedic line that pushes the plot forward but as a nod towards the fact that Mr Incredible and Frozone both worked as vigilantes together so definitely know each other well. It's fitting, witty, advances the plot and just all around works

I think your proposed finale also helps close Bob's arc. In the first movie, Bob starts out by rejecting Buddy as a partner, because he wants to work alone; by the end of the movie, he does learn to work with his family as a team, but never comes around to working with non-supers who want to save themselves. So, maybe Syndrome was right all along... you don't have to have powers to be super. But the supers have a deeper responsibility to empower the people they're trying to save.

@Dargonhuman
@Dargonhuman 5 лет назад
@Juno That's my take on that scene; the struggle to stop the hydrofoil took several minutes, during which plenty of people would have seen the efforts of the supers and figured out they were trying to stop the boat. Even without broadcast communications, local shortwaves like police dispatch and walkie talkies would have been able to spread the news that the supers were trying to save the city via word of mouth.

Because the politics shouldn't matter at that point, a boat heading into a city was steered away, pretty easy to understand why people would cheer that.

I don't think Violet would win. And that's a good thing. I think the fight would start with Violet bubbling Mr Incredible and then we get the straight forward struggle between her will and his strength. But it's not good enough, she doesn't actually want to hurt her dad, so she gives him too much room to move around and he would BREAK the first shield, completely. This would send Violet into a panic so she would probably go invisible. Then we would have a sequence where Violet goes invisible and Mr Incredible tracks her down. First through a hallway, but he keeps up with her and she breaks through a door, her invisibility flickering in her rush. Now with a clue where she is, Mr Incredible would start throwing everything in the room at her, the room is too small for her to hide in, and one of the desks comes too close, Violet has to drop her invisibility and go shields up. Then we would have the classic scene were he begins to beat down on her shield, and in desperation she holds it stronger than the first shield, but with every blow the shield shrinks. And then, the shield is strong enough that Mr Incredible can actually wrap his arms around it, and we watch Violet, now fearing for her life, crying and pleading, as his arms wrap around the shield and crush it, threatening to crush her, *to break her like a twig*, and the mental strain starts to get to her, Violet's conscience starts to fade, her shield flickers. "BOB!" Is all we would hear. And Elastigirl's hand would pull the goggles off just as the shield fails. And we would see recognition cross back into his features, and what was about to be a death embrace would turn into a true hug, we would get to watch Mr Incredible really cry, for a brief moment, over his own actions and how near they came to the worst possible outcome. This would really drive home the possible consequences and probably drive some of the audience to tears. (I nearly cried as I was typing it, but I tend to get too into these things)

I like it but I wouldn’t want the victory to come from an outside source. It should definitely be violet in some last second desperate attempt to save herself that she disconnects the goggles. By giving that power to an outside source it devalues violet’s role in the fight and thus in future fights. I think it would be more important to the story if violet won the fight but not through any victory with her powers or anything like that but simply by luck in the last moment she’s able to save herself.
@megasora4
@megasora4 5 лет назад
while that is all well in itself, i dont think Elastigirl should come in for the save, Violet needs a win as the entire movie gives her tons of down moments, maybe instead of the mother exmachina, maybe violet in desperation puts a bubble around mr. incredible googles, she is a "smart girl" as we are lead to think and maybe she has a moment and realizes she could block the googles or distract him by doing so. not to keen on the details and how that would go over, but i really do think Violet needs to win this fight and not have some outside force take the victory.
@BadIdeaBoss
@BadIdeaBoss 5 лет назад
Violet starts off on the back foot, throwing up defensive forcefields that Bob keeps smashing. Dash runs by, getting chased by Helen's extended arms. He goes "put a forcefield around his head so he can't breathe!" Vi's like, "I can't do that to dad!" Dash is like, "well do SOMETHING!" and he gets tripped by a stretched leg. Violet thinks for a second, she's kind of freaking out, and gives Bob an opening to throw a big punch at her. She puts up a forcefield at the last second, and his fist punches straight through it and gets stuck. She has an idea. She puts a forcefield around Bob's head, suffocating him. He tries to pull it off, can't, and finally tries to punch it. His fist flies straight through the forcefield, punching himself in the face, and breaking his goggles. This would work especially well if there was some kind of sibling "stop hitting yourself" gag earlier on in the movie, and Violet could quote it here.

I feel like the Underminer comes somewhat out of left field here. The main villain is the Screenslaver, so a final fight with a completely unrelated villain is perhaps not the best call. So maybe the director can foreshadow this by presenting various posters, articles, or comments about how Supers ruined everything in the Underminer attack, "where is the Underminer?", and other things like that. It keeps him in the back of our mind and in the movie. Which is great.

On the post-credits, I have to disagree with you. The scene that would give the most closure for me would be when Frozone gets home and has to explain to his wife why, after promising that he was only going out for a bit and *DEFINATELY* not doing any superhero stuff was all over national television doing *exactly* what he said he wouldn't be doing. Because I have no idea how he would be able to worm himself out of that one.

Preface that with Frozone appearing on the Parr household with a box filled with some clothes and supplies asking if he could stay. Only for Bob to ask why and we get the flashback of Frozone getting home and all we see is the silhouette of a sofa chair with the sound of Honey clearing her throat. "Not doing any heroics huh?" To which Frozone replies "I can explain. People were in danger!" And Honey goes on a rant the likes of "The only thing in danger right now is your chances of sleeping in our bed tonight Lucius! "With the camera panning out and fading to black as she keeps going on a loud rant as Lucius defends himself. At least how I think it would go.

One thing I think was missing from Incredibles was a moment that we see dash go really fast. Like the moment we see him run on water is my favorite scene from The Incredibles ever since I was a kid. On the topic of the Violet Bob fight, here's my take. Since bob is under control he doesn't throw any soft punches, Violet is able to block a few with her shields (getting noticeably worn out as they hit) and tries her invisibility to get behind him and remove the goggles but misses and has to go back on the defensive. As her shield starts to fade she tries to plead to her father under the mask (this works from a story perspective as they've spent a good amount of the film bonding with each other) and his punches become slower and weaker. You get to see some internal conflict from Bob until Evelyn's voice comes through the goggles telling him to finish it. Using both his hands in a clubbing motion he breaks Vi's shield, knocking her to the ground. As he raises his arm, Violet who is barely able to catch her breath, says "I know why you want it back so badly, the chance to save others, give them hope. It was never about the fame or glory. It was because you hated seeing the little guy get stepped on, to live in a world where people stand by and do nothing. To let me Dash and Jack Jack use or powers for something good instead of hiding them from the world. I love you dad, you're my hero". Bob, who's arm slowly dropped during Vi's speech, drops to his knees letting her take off the goggles. I like the idea of her and bob's fight being an emotional one while dash and helen's is technical, with dash actually using his young imagination to outmaneuver his mom.

Violet V Bob: They square off, Violet tries to talk to her dad (she's more of a thinker than Dash) She uses her invisibility to avoid a few punches but is inadvertently backed into a corner. She creates force fields around her self but they are relentlessly hammered by Bob, flickering under the onslaught, and Violet clearly looks strained. Then Violet has a lightbulb moment; she creates a force field around Bob's head, cutting off his oxygen. This can play out two ways: Bob can punch through the force field and knock himself out (kind of similar to how you had Dash beat Helen); OR, and this is much more emotional, Violet has to fully choke out her dad. Big emotional scene, Violet is crying, Dash is looking on in horror having already unwilling fought his mother. Bob collapses, Violet quickly cuts off the force field and rushes over, rips the goggles off and desperately tried to bring Bob around. Dash flashes to her side, Helen has untangled herself and also crawls over. The family is all clustered round and there's a moment of tension before Bob splutters back to life. Now we've got an extremely emotional fight, but also the big we-are-a-family moment that this film was missing. You've also set up the Parr with the least inclination to fight (Violet) against the most typical fighter (Bob), AND had her triumph, albeit against her will. And lastly we get a really nice moment of vulnerability from Bob, a bit like when he's held captive in Incredibles 1.
@MsMoonfan4ever
@MsMoonfan4ever 5 лет назад
Dude, that sounds like the most intense shit. Especially granted where Bob and Violet are before the A plot and B plot merge, like, a decent amount of the subplot beyond 'dealing with Jack Jack' was Bob struggling to help Violet through her social issues, especially considering that her current problems were indirectly his and Rick's fault. It would be such a messed up yet fitting payoff for Violet, while she's trying to talk him down, to try and be like 'I know it wasn't working perfectly but you were doing your best and I was really happy that you were trying!' etc etc and then being FORCED to fight back when it doesn't work would just be.... 👌👌👌 I mean Bob doing his best to 'Stay at Home Dad' was one of the big things they were advertising about the movie back before it came out, so putting the big emotional character resonance on him and Violet would have been really cool (esp since Helen is already the main person driving the plot, showing that Dash has inherited more than just the agility aspect of her powers would be cool, but not very weighty)

Personaly, I thought the movie would be going a completely different direction when it was revealed Evelyn was the screen slaver. I thought she genuinely wanted to see the return of supers just like her brother, and had created the screen slaver as an opportunity for Elastigirl to show her worth. This would've put Helen in the situation of having to choose between having supers be legal again but letting Evelyn go, and catching and exposing Evelyn for the criminal she is, but ruining the reputations of supers again. I don't know exactly how that would've turned out, but I think it would've been an interesting plot point. It is a difficult, somewhat morally gray subject, letting one evil deed pass for the greater good, but it is not like pixar hasn't brought up difficult topics in the past.

I spent the ENTIRE MOVIE thinking that's what was happening! And I thought the new superheroes were going to be more of a bargaining chip for Evelyn, her using them to show Helen (and the audience) that siding against Evelyn would hurt not just her and her family but EVERY Super. It felt like the movie was gearing for that twist and the real motivation behind Screenslaver was such a disappointment that the movie was ruined for me right then.
@WolfofKaos
@WolfofKaos 5 лет назад
I was thinking the exact same thing when I first saw the movie! I had assumed before managing to even watch Incredibles 2 that *Winston* was the Screenslaver, due to a RU-vidr pointing out how he and the villain had a very similar build, and thus figured after the train scene that the Screenslaver was an alter ego created by Winston to make supers legal again via forced "incidents" that makes the public want them back. Right then and there, I thought that was an awesome conflict of interest, working with the villain to be accepted again or risk acceptance to deliver justice, and looked forward to how it would be resolved Can't deny that I *wasn't* disappointed that Evelyn turned out to be the Screenslaver, with a completely separate agenda from her brother, but that was mainly relief that I wasn't spoiled on who the villain was (the whole "learning from a RU-vidr" being an accident I wished to forget). But looking at the movie again, I definitely wish that both Winston and Evelyn turned out to be the Screenslaver; her handling the technical stuff while he made the plans and 'script', and the motivation was to force the public to accept the supers rather than keeping the supers illegal for good

But man would I have loved to see that traumatic fight between the parents and their kids. It could have been on parr (heheh) with the scene in which Mr. Incredible learns that Syndrome killed dozens of supers. Or on parr with the scene in which Elastigirl is trying to rescue her family from the missiles following their jet, and Mr. Incredible mistakenly thinks his family is dead. Ugh, Pixar! Why didn't you guys try something like this!? A scene with the family members fighting each other would have been a STUPENDOUS foil to the final act in the first film when the family teams up. My thoughts on the your hypothetical Violet vs Bob fight, is mostly her dodging, and using her shields to block his blows, then she sees that her shields are strong enough to withstand the force of his punches, and takes a risk. Violet is one hundred percent shown to be non-combative, and if it weren't for her boughts of teen angst, I'd even say she's a pure pacifist. Any solution she would have would be something non lethal and as unlikely to cause harm as possible. Her parents use their powers to emphasize their fighting styles, what with Bob swinging like a train and mostly hoping to over power anyone/anything he comes up against, and Helen uses her flexibility and agility to out maneuver her opponents. Given the kids' personality, you'd think that Dash would fight like his dad, seeing as how he's brash and hot-headed like his dad, and Violet would fight like her mum, seeing as she's a thinker, but the opposite is true. Dash will always out maneuver whoever or whatever he's fighting, with his ego not letting him lose, his mindset is his dads, but he fights like his mum. It's only fair that Violet thinks like her mum, but fights like her dad. Her force fields have been shown to withstand a lot in the first movie, from bullets, to the full weight of the Omni Droid, and in this one we see they can also take Bob bashing it, or at least this fight would show that. Which leads her to have the idea to make the force field around her dad's like a rope or some other form of binding, leaving her clear to move in and swipe the goggles.

"You see, I think Incredibles 2 was missing something big. An exciting, spectacular finale, where everyone gets to do their thing, that plays to everyones' strengths" That's what I've been thinking! There weren't enough sequences featuring the family fighting as a team! I know this movie was mostly Helen-centric to contrast how the first movie was Bob-centric, but even the first movie wasn't mostly about Bob. The premise was all about a super hero family.

Personally, I think more could be done in a end credits scene. It seems like a normal day. Bob's holding Jack Jack, Helen's looking at jobs, Dash's working on homework, and Violet's on the phone with Tony. There's a knock on the door. Helen looks at Bob, who shrugs. She opens the door, and we can hear her talking to someone. "Hey! Long time no see! ...what? No, no, we're not doing much, but... my God." Everyone's already turned to the door by this point, and Helen walks back to the family. She says, "We have a visitor." And out of the way Helen came from... Is Mirage.

I really like this, but I would change one thing. As opposed to the supers revealing they're under the control of Screenslaver, they should claim that supers are now serving Screenslaver to get their revenge on normal people for all the years of making supers "slaves" to regular society, not being able to live in their own. This way no one would trust supers or screens anymore. Making her goal strictly getting all screens outlawed seems farfetched to me is all, considering how much people have come to rely on them in so many aspects. Other than that, yeah your videos have vastly improved almost everything I found unsatisfactory in the movie.

I feel like the final battle with Underminer is just forced in there. It doesn't really connect to the main villain's ideology about screens, and as such appears as just a tacked on battle to look more like the Avengers. If you really want that final battle, I'd argue that screenslaver should take over the TVs in an entire town, controlling everyone in the city to attack the supers. The supers don't want to hurt the innocents, so this adds another layer of tension as they desperately try to free the civilians from Screenslaver's control. One by one, they snap them out of it, allowing us to give the heroes some of those same teamwork moments as well as showing how perception of the supers changes as they save everyone. It's during this battle that Winston convinces Evelyn to stop. However, she had built a failsafe into the control system so that Winston or the Incredibles couldn't shut it off, and it's so secure that even she can't stop it. So, we get that scene you suggested with screech and the TVs, but this time convincing the free innocents to help the supers snap everyone out of their trances. This speeds up the process until everyone is saved. That way we still get the message of perception, we get to see just a little bit more action, and it still focuses on Screenslaver as a villain.

So here's my idea for Bob vs Violet: Violet starts off invisible to try and sneak up on Bob. Bob is able to detect her just as she reaches for the glasses and grabs her, forcing her out of her invisible mode. She throws up a force field to force him away and Bob starts bashing the crap out of the field. He manages to break the barrier and hits her so hard she's sent flying across the room. With tears in her eyes, Violet lets loose a scream and sends out a burst of energy so strong it sends Bob across the room and stuns him long enough for her to take off his mind control glasses. Why do I like this scene? A few reasons. First off, it introduces a new power for Violet that makes sense in the context of her character arc. It's been confirmed that each character's powers are indicative of some personality trait or characteristic. In the case of Violet, she can turn invisible and create force fields, which reflect her shy and introverted nature from the first movie. However, by the end of the first movie she's coming out of her shell more, something further explored in the second movie. Not only that, but we see she's becoming more the stereotypical hormonal teenager who struggles to control and understand her emotions. Giving her a power that is the opposite of her current powers, but that she can't control and would rely on her emotions, would make a lot of sense and would be fascinating to see explored in both this movie and the inevitable sequel. Second, it gives us that moment of one of the parents hitting one of the kids, which would be emotionally scarring for said kid. Having it be Bob hitting Violet would give a logical reason as to how she's able to become angry and traumatized enough to unlock her new power and defeat Bob. And third, and most importantly, it gives us a moment where one of the kids straight up overpowers one of the parents, and it being Violet would be amazing. Not only is it a satisfying character moment for Violet, but it also puts her on an arc where she realizes she's actually just as strong, if not stronger, than her parents. This could cause her to become cocky and reckless in the next movie (if it happens) and subsequently set up a conflict for said movie. So there's my suggestion, Nando if you read this then I'm sure you could probably find a way to better expand on and develop it. This is more a skeleton to develop a potential third movie from.
@NandovMovies

The scream could also knock everyone else in the room over. Helen and Dash would already be done fighting, but the fall could be what gives Voyd the opening to slap the goggles onto Frozone, who'd be on the ground from the shockwave. Edit: Another thing it can do: Let's say Evelyn uses a hypno-screen on Winston when he falls through Voyd's portal. Violet's scream can cause Winston to fall, giving him the opportunity to give Evelyn that little speech.

I love this revised story you have built it is definitely an improvement not that I didn't love the sequel for what it was but you're version is hands down better. With that said I would change the after credit scene. The scene would open with a guy we don't know turning off a monitor in disgust. That person was just watching the Incredibles, new heroes, and the townspeople save the day. The monitor guy say's " Looks like Underminer failed to bring down the city. What should we do now sir?" Just than someone steps partially from the shadows. This person has a single bright red eye that keeps zooming in and out, mechanical noises included. While remaining partially shadowed the shadowy figure say's in a disfigured voice "Now.... We move to phase 2" as he say's this the shadowy figure lifts his arm (what seems to be some kind of cybernetic enhancement or prosthetic) and makes a fist as the camera slightly pans downward to reveal a giant "S" on the person's chest than the screen goes black. This ending suggests that Syndrome is alive somehow but didn't get out of that jet engine unscathed. It would also suggest he knew Underminer would fail but that was all apart of his plan. It would explain the Underminer's need for money since Syndrome's assets were frozen in the first film. He needed money so Syndrome could build Underminer's robot army for him along with a few other things I assume. So yeah i think this would make an awesome after credits scene because having Syndrome back in some fashion for Incredibles 3 would be awesome.

@@Raider768 This suggestion adds onto the Underminer bit as a way of resolving the fact that I don't really like the way Nando handled Evelyn in his version. They could have had the Underminer be a persistent presence throughout the movie. When Winston recruits the three supers, he could have used stopping him as the MO for reinstating supers. "The Underminer stole that money for a reason. I don't think he's planning on an extended vacation in the Bahamas so it's probably something that we should be worried about. Our seismic sensors have detected unusual activity in Municiburg so that's where we'll look first." Later, when Helen is patrolling for potential crime, she sees a blip on her bike's screen that mentions seismic activity nearby. At the ceremony for the maglev train, there is some boast about the technology involved like "The train is so strong it could withstand the pressure and temperature of the Earth's core!" (Or something that would appeal to subterranean dwellers) In a scene after the train is rescued, Helen sees a news report that says the wrecked train fell into some sort of sinkhole and was unable to be recovered. She asks Winston if they should be worried about that but he says that Municiburg has earthquakes all the time (sort of a red herring to make him look like the villain, but mostly to point out how easily he lets excitement get in the way of caution). At this point, Winston has more or less forgotten about the Underminer as an acknowledgment to the way that golden age comic villains tended to pop up and leave in short periods of time, making way for another one. Now that there is a new threat (the screenslaver) he is focused intently on the new story, the way a kid reading comics might forget about a villain that was seemingly taken care of many issues ago. Jump ahead to Nando's version of the final fight scene and when the Underminer pops up again, he has new tech built from the maglev train. This makes him even deadlier and ties him back into the movie as a plot device, not just a bookend to showcase how the characters have grown. During the fight, Evelyn confesses to Winston that she had been working with the Underminer. Well, more like using him. "I needed a way out, Winston. He was my scapegoat. If I ever got caught my plan was to claim that he had been mind controlling me all along." Then Evelyn could disable Winston somehow (tie him up, stun gun, whatever, as long as he can still listen and understand her) "I'm sorry Winston. You've shown me how wrong I was, but I can't stay here and get put in jail. What would I even design there?" She starts to leave but Winston manages to yell out "I can put in my word! I bet we could get your jail time halved easy! If you leave now they'll think you're a villain!" Evelyn turns around and smirks "What makes you think I'm not?" Then leaves. (Rest of movie plays out as shown above) My version keeps Evelyn bad. Obviously she still has the change of heart that Nando suggested, but that was a moment of weakness not of saliency (she would have to be insane to change her morals on a dime like that). That moment shows that she is still human, but doesn't paint what she did as even a little bit ok. Winston is her foil, and could play a role in future encounters with her. This also wraps up the Underminer's story and leads into a new one. The suggestions that the Underminer just pops up, "HEROIC POSE," Credits seems like a waste of potential. We already ended an Incredibles movie with that, lets throw the Underminer in jail and move onto to something fresh.

Damn it, Nando, you're so brilliant! As for how Violet stops her father, it's a very emotional fight, for Violet. Violet starts out just using her bubble to defend herself. She's very reluctant to do anything offensive that might hurt her dad. She tries to reach him, to get past the brainwashing, but nothing works. Violet is getting really scared, her father will not stop pummeling her force field. Violet cries for her father to stop, the shield is going to break. Violet is worried about what she's going to be forced to do, she doesn't want to do it, but you can see her come to realize that it's the only way to stop him. Bob breaks her barrier. Violet goes invisible. Now with a little distance between them Violet turns visible and launches force fields at her dad, kinda like she did at the beginning of the movie. Bob takes the hits. He's stunned, but not badly hurt. He keeps coming for her. Violet unleashes a barrage of force bubbles at her dad. Much like the quick Ki attacks in Dragon Ball. Damaged, Bob continues to stalk towards Violet. With her back literally against the wall Violet comes up with a last ditch move. Pleading one last time for her dad to stop, Violet creates a force field around Bob's head. Violet is crying, she doesn't want to do this. Her father finally stops advancing toward her, and starts to attack the bubble around his head. He can't breathe. He's starting to suffocate. He collapses to his knees, then starts to crawl and drag himself towards Violet. He finally gets a hand around her ankle and then his head drops. Violet gives it one more second, then drops the field. She hesitantly reaches down and removes the goggles. Then destroys them. She uses a force field to turn his body over and presses her ear to her father's chest, scared that she killed him. She finally hears a heart beat, as his chest moves with an intake of breath. She starts to cry and hugs him tight. Bob comes to a few moments later to find his daughter weeping. He wraps his arms around her, and he tells her how proud of her he is. They have a moment. Bob wipes her tears away and tells her how much he loves her. They stand up, changed forever by the fight, but now closer because of it. Then race off to find Dash and Helen.

To Nando v Movies: here's how I think this fight should go. Frozone vs The Incredibles The Incredibles run into the room, on a balcony. (Side note: some where before this fight I want Violet to give her mom's Incredibles suit to her mom. Why? Because she's an incredible, she has to wear the suit.) They see Frozone standings in front of the frozen supers, back turned to the Incredibles. Mr Incredible asks "how's it going over there?" Frozone replies "it's good." "Oh no." Mrs Incredible (and I'm going to stick to that original name because she's married, except if she's wearing the Elastigirl costume from both movies) asks "What's wrong?" Mr Incredible says "He would've said cool." Frozone turns around to revel he's wearing one of those hypnosis goggles. Mr Incredible jumps down and runs towards Frozone. Suddenly a portal appears in front of him and he runs though it. The other portal appears above the balcony and Mr Incredible comes out of the portal, crashing through the balcony, bring the family with. Voyd (unharmed) appears to be hiding under the balcony. She leaves the Incredibles to Frozone and starts working trying to free the frozen super. Mr and Mrs Incredible get up and instantly get hit by Frozone's ice beam. Mr incredible is completely frozen while Mrs incredible is half frozen. Mr incredible breaks free, then turns to his wife. Mrs Incredible tries to stretch thin to slip free but she can't do it without breaking, so Mr Incredible tries to help her out. Dash runs at Frozone. Frozone creates a slipper ice under Dash's feet, Dash starts to slide, crashing into a table. Violet turns invisible. Frozone makes snow around him. He sees her tracks, grabs her and throws her to where Dash is at. Mrs Incredible is free thanks to Mr Incredible, and they see Violet and Dash defeated and injured. Voyd frees the frozen supers. Mr and Mrs incredible stand in front of the kids, protecting them. Frozone charges a ice blasts, Refluxs builds up a lava vomit, and Heletrixs is charging up electricity. Winston talks to Evelyn about their dad of what he did and what it means to be a hero. "Stories about heroes aren't about betting up bad guys. They're about sacrifice and doing what right. They give us strength to do the hard thing if it means losing everything. Gives people the courage to die so they can save the people they love." Evelyn thinks about this. Starting to believe that her farther died so he can save his children. She looks at a security camera in the conference room. She sees the parents standing between the other supers and their kids. Then she notices tears in the parents eye's, knowing they are going to die but knowing that they are keeping their kids safe. She looks at the remote in her hand and deactivates the mind control goggles. The supers are free at the last second. Everyone apologies. Fight over, and Evelyn has turned good. That's how I would imagine the fight would go out. I know it's short but I want the movie under 2 hours if we are including the Underminer in the end. Let me know what you think of the fight.

Bob vs Violet Fight: Violet uses her invisibility to lure Bob into a trap of some sorts but it ultimately fails. Bob is able to grab Violet and throws her against a wall. Violet is VERY hurt from this (possibly has broken ribs or something but subtle to keep that PG rating). Bob prepares to literally crush his daughter to death under the mind control. The Screenslaver (after hesitating for a moment) decides upon this because she realizes that if she has footage of a famous Super MURDERING a defenseless child, Supers will NEVER become legal again. It would be the ultimate last step in her plan, arguably even more impactful than assassinating the UN leaders. Right before Bob lands he final blow, Violet uses the last of her strength to put up a forcefield. It stops Bob, but only barely, so he keeps punching it over and over again. The forcefield is getting weaker with every blow, the music is swelling, Violet keeps pleading and calling out to her father over and over BEGGING him to stop. This would be REALLY tense and dramatic as these two family members bonded the most throughout the movie. Bob finally breaks through and right before he finishers her off, Violet discovers a NEW power: telepathy. The last time she screams, she’s able to communicate it directly to Bob’s brain/psyche. This MIGHT seem like a cop out, but it’s already been shown through Jack Jack that children can still be developing their powers. Besides, telepathy hasn’t been introduced in the Incrediverse yet and it would fit for Violet. Anyway, Bob returns back to his original mental state, but his body is still being controlled by the Screenslaver. He is, however, able to see what he’s done to his own daughter. Enraged by what the Screenslaver has done to him and his family, Bob proceeds to start fighting the mind control with the help of Violet’s new power. Now either he’s able to get it off and the fight ends, OR he’s “not strong enough” (which would be a callback to the first movie) and it’s with the help of his ENTIRE family coming in (after the Helen/Dash fight) encouraging him that he can break control. It would be really emotional and shit and give Bob a FULL character arc from what he’s gone through in Incredibles 1, being a stay at home dad in Incredibles 2 and bonding with his kids, and then what happens in this climax I wrote... BUT NAH LET’S HAVE THE FUNNY BABY JUST _TAKE OFF THE GOGGLES_ WHO NEEDS REAL STAKES AND CONSEQUENCES IN STORYTELLING

Violet's force field could cut off Bob's oxygen supply, making it difficult for him to breathe/concentrate! That's a trick the Invisible Woman uses all the time, and for a brief period in the early 90s, when she became a villain named Malice, she used that as her primary heel tactic. If Violet uses this consistently, is scarily effective with it, and that puts a boatload of fear for her and Dash's future in Bob and Helen, we might have a nice little villain arc for Incredibles 3.
@fidgetelftree9432
@fidgetelftree9432 4 года назад
I actually like that idea! I never really thought about Violet becoming a villain, in old head canons about Incredibles 2 it was usually suggested that Dash would make an interesting next villain. I remember before we knew anything about Incredibles 2, people thought it might take place maybe about 10 years after the first movie, with like, adult Violet and Dash and a Teenage/Preteen Jack-Jack. The theories about why Dash would even become a villain were interesting(and I recall some EPIC fanart of a villainous Dash). Maybe something like, the fight to let supers be legal has been drawn out for all these years and Dash is frustrated that he STILL can’t use his powers in the open. So he takes a page out of his dads book and starts doing vigilante work. But here’s the thing: Bob and Helen(and probably every super) clearly has training. Like, GOVERNMENT training. Because Superheroes worked for the government. But Dash? Doesn’t have any training. How much will go wrong with an untrained, frustrated, and probably slightly egotistical person with SUPER SPEED running around the city doing stuff? It’s probably only make the reputation of Supers even WORSE. But Dash wouldn’t see it that way. After all, he’s helping people! That’s what he’s supposed to do, right? That’s the only way he could be allowed to use his powers. His Parents, now in their 50’s, are probably slowing down. They aren’t as young as they once were. So it’s up to Violet (and maybe Jack-Jack?) to try and stop him. Que all the built up resentment Dash has built up over the years being thrown at Violet. “You never cared about not being able to use your powers! You were always content to just, pretend to be normal! But we’re not! We can do all these amazing things, Violet! Why should we let some dumb laws stop us? Why should we let anyone stop us? We’re stronger then they are! We’re so much better. We don’t need to listen to them! In fact, THEY should listen to US! It’s not like they could stop us. I mean REALLY stop us. Think about it. I’m fast enough to go ANYWHERE without being seen, or caught on any camera. I could do whatever I want, and they wouldn’t even know it was me!” But I got off topic. Now a Villainous VIOLET. That’s wasn’t something I had considered. It’s true a lot of her powers can be used in horrifying ways, if she just thinks about them. She’s been shown to be able to fly around inside a force field, and I bet she could stand on a platform and use that to levitate. Who knows how much control she’s going to gain over her powers as she grows? I don’t think any NEW powers will deceiver time, but she doesn’t need them to become a terrifying enemy. And one thing she WILL gain over time is experience. One of the main reasons she was getting caught even with invisibility is that we left tracks or was otherwise marked(like the soldier in The Incredibles 1 throwing dirt into the water). When she gets enough experience to know how to properly avoid that, her invisibility will become an even greater, more useful power.

So, for Violet vs Bob, my idea revolves around the kids getting new suits from Edna... in the first Incredibles, Edna figured out how to make Violet’s suit go invisible with her because of the electric stimulation so.... why not give her that ability in her gloves? So she picks up all kinds of bars, balls, and improvised weapons and makes them invisible, all with different lengths so Bob can’t figure out how to dodge. The reason why Sue Richards (Invisible Woman from Fantastic Four) is considered the most powerful member of the FF is because of how versatile her powers are. So the key here is to get Violet to start thinking flexibly like how Elastigirl does. It would show growth from I.1, new powers, and show how strength isn’t everything. Which leads into your team up battle pretty well too. Also, I’m not entirely sure how Edna would upgrade Dash’s suit.... maybe something that HARNESSES the Friction generated instead of negating it? Pull a Flash lightning throw maybe? Or Dash figures out how to exploit his speed to create a vortex, or phantom images of himself, or... something. Not sure. But yeah! Those are my thoughts. I also want more child supers..... like... why only the Incredikids?

I really thought that when you were setting up your line of, now I’m paraphrasing this, “Do we really need supers?” Said by Winston, I really thought you were setting them up to be villains. And he was showing Mr. Incredible failing to lift up the rubble to send a message to the people that the heroes aren’t strong enough to protect them, and that they should take up arms so they don’t rely on heroes. It could be a smoother transition into Evelyn’s motivation in the first movie about no reliance on heroes, without the whole legalization thing.

I honestly found it weird that the climax took place on a boat. And that is was not really a final battle. And was kinda boring becouse it was more sneaking and just coming across enemies. Actually I was highly dissapointed that it took place on the boat. I was hoping that it took place in the city since the first film took place on the island. It could have been a much more big scale and epic finale. Hypnotized supers all over the place. Not Jack-Jack messing up in a good way. God, so much potential SQUANDERED! How much more do I need to complain about this film? Edit: I don't know about the Underminer being the final antagonist. I would find it weird that suddenly that the Underminer is the villain after the whole movie building up the Screenslaver (real screenslaver, Evelin is boring but just my opinion). It's better that the Underminer is saved for the third film or he is actually beaten in the opening. but I do agree that the final battle should take place in a city.
@SeventhSolar
@SeventhSolar 5 лет назад
The way I interpreted it, the Underminer wouldn’t be the final boss, more like a post-credits scene, but the credits haven’t rolled yet. The concluding scene is when they beat Screenslaver, and nothing meaningful should happen after that. The Underminer gets his butt kicked in an epic masturbatory action scene even as the credits wind their way around the action, and finishes up just as Mr. Incredible throws the knockout punch, screen fade to black.

Dont get me wrong I love this script. But the underminer part seemed a little tagged on at the end. I think u should have underminer and Evelyn working together. Once Evelyn realises what she had done then she tries to convince the underminer to stop. He doesn't listen and continues on with his rampage. Evelyn says something like "What have I done, this is all my fault" the typical type of banter. But then Winston says something like "Then help me fix it" and they do the suit cam thing like u said. I think this really helps create the family dynamic between the two that I thought we lacked in the movie. And then once everything dies down, Winston could say something like "dad would have been proud". I think this really could help redeem evelyn and drive home the point that she has changed.

To me, it would be hard to buy that two full grown, well-practiced supers in Bob and Helen, would lose to two kids who have fought bad guys no more than a handful of times. Additionally, I think the finale takes place on a boat in the original so that they don't have to worry about the destruction of the city. In the recent super films, and the beginning of Incredibles 2, that was a big deal. On a boat, you can do whatever damage you want while in the city you need to limit things so you don't destroy buildings or streets where innocents are being hurt. Another thing I would wonder about with this is the length. I don't think Disney would want to make an animated family film that's closing in on 2 and a half hours. Maybe this version wouldn't be much longer, but it was just something I thought of. I definitely like a lot of the things you brought up though. Some of the scenes sound really touching and who wouldn't want to see all the supers fight together (though I'm not a huge fan of fighting a legion of mindless robots, personally). I also wish, like you, Incredibles 2 had involved the regular folks at the end somehow. Maybe have the supers on the boat work with police to sort things out or something. Really interesting video!

Completely unrelated to your plot changes, but you know who would have made the perfect foil to Evelyn/the Screenslaver? Honey. We never see her on screen (so far), which matches Evelyn's desire to always be behind the scenes rather than the focus. It could turn out that Honey is also a Super, and there's nothing in the films refuting this. It would be kind of odd for Frozone to marry a non-Super anyway since he's very much into the superhero thing like the Parr family. Honey would be a Super that due to her specific powers had an easier time hiding them and integrating into society, unlike the Supers with flashier powers like her husband for example. And what better power as a foil to Screenslaver than giving her the ability to use her voice as a source of mind control? Specifically when she sings or speaks in a certain way. Either let her have Honey as her actual Super name or nickname her something like Siren. Honey could use her own mind control to break the other Supers out of Screenslaver's mind control, and since she could do it with a more archaic form of technology (the radio) or in person, Evelyn won't be able to control Honey herself via screens. Hell, Honey could even try to call the UN, Evelyn could intercept the call, and then Honey could use her mind controlling power to talk Evelyn into shutting off the goggles on the Supers. Fwiw, Honey's name does allude to a mind control voice ability, as being "honey-tongued" means you're able to persuade people into doing things they might not on their own.

Never actually watched the Incredibles 2, but a bonus scene that you described feels so satisfying! Oh yeah, and a good video too, as always :) Violet VS Bob. I feel that Violet would be full on defense mode, Bob will attack constantly from different sides and not give Violet a breather. Violet could try to reach for glasses, but she would never succeed. Then she creates a barrier around Bob and thinks for a moment while Bob as a raging bull trying to smash it - and cut to Dash VS Helen finale. After cutting back to Violet VS Bob and Bob starts to smash floor to go under a barrier. Violet panics for a moment and says "It's time to do something incredible" and jumps on Bob. When she touches a barrier she lets a barrier create full cover around her for a second or two, Bob notices Violet and smashes her, but at that moment Violet grabbed that screen glasses and she flies into a wall with them, and full cover barrier breaks after that. A lot of dust, Bob is terrified - "What have I done?" - dust settles and violet is unharmed. They say something sweet to each other.

Usually I really like your edits, but I’m not a fan of what the underminer does at the end. Having a million robots does exactly what the avengers do and it’s boring seeing boring mobs destroyed. I like the big element idea you were talking about with a bigger scale and I really think what you said about frozone means he should be the final boss. It’s not what’s about the robots getting destroyed, it’s about the superheroes working together in a big action set piece. I think what he was trying to say was that you could have anything take the place of the robots, you just have to include all the new superheroes introduced with the classic old superheroes. Both genres are inspiring the people to fight back. So while I do like Frozone being the final boss, I would like to see an Avengers Age of Ultron like scene but with more creativity put into it. It may be a little boring seeing generic goons being taken down, but the superheroes and the common people working together far outweighs the boringness.

Daughter vs. Father: I feel like this fight would be a great opportunity to tackles Violet and Bob's relationship. At the beginning of the fight, Violet could try to be calm and try to talk him out of the hypnosis via the ol' "It's me, your daughter. I know this isn't blahblahblah." This seems to work at first with Bob pausing and blankly staring at Violet; it becomes abundantly clear that this doesn't work Bob does a battle cry and charges at Violet. Violet runs out of the UN room and into the hallway, horrorified of her own hulking father coming at her full force. She puts up a basic bubble shield around herself to block his blows. Her shield is able to defend against the attacks, but it flickers from the force of each punch and slam, indicating that he could easily break it in just a few more hits. During this time, Violet starts a monologue along the lines of "So this is what you and mom have been working towards? Have been sacrificing yourselves for?" She starts to gain a little more confidence, at which point Bob breaks the shield, knocking Violet down. Violet turns invisible and escapes Bob's attempted final blow. She then continues the monologue as she keeps getting cheap hits in from different directions. Since he's been rendered a bit more simple of a fighter without the Screenslavers direct control, he starts flinging wildly. Violet turns visible again so we can she her push her father towards the stairs at the end of the hallway with her smaller force fields (like we she her use in the fight against teleporty-lady in the original). Violet is getting even more aggressive in both her attacks and tone, ridiculing her father for allowing this to happen to him, perhaps letting her teenage angst getting the better of her. This is where Bob is able to clearly locate her, grab her, and throw her at the railing right at the top of the stairs. Violet lands on the railing with her back, clearly doing a lot of damage to the point where she can't stand back up. As Bob slowly walks towards her, cracking his knuckles to finish off his daughter, Violet looks up at Bob, almost petrified by his sheer power. She can't win against Bob in a fair fight. She looks at Bob's goggles, trying to rack her brain as to how she can get them off. Bob puts his fists in the air; Violet puts up another, smaller bubble shield around herself. The shield easily breaks again, causing Violet to fall again. He goes for another overhead slam, but Violet musters enough strength to put up another shield, which once again gets broken easily. This rhythm continues again and again. We get a cut to the Screenslaver watching Bob's fight, reacting with "C'mon, just fall already" or something like that. Violet seems to be getting used to the pattern, starting to get up on her knees panting. "You... never gave up... even when you weren't sure what to do... or what was right...You never gave up on me." At this point, Bob gives up on the overhead slams and grabs Violet by the neck, slamming her through the railing and holding her over the stairs, about to drop her already frail and exhausted body down a few floors. Violet is barely able to muster one last sentence: "So.. I'm... not giving up... on you either." With that, she charges a bit of a spark in her fingers as she forms a miniature shield-slice-beam thing like we saw at the beginning of the movie and launches directly upwards, slicing the hypnosis goggles in half. Violet blacks out, and Bob shakes head in confusion, letting go of Violet. In slow motion, Violet falls. Bob sees his daughter falling; his eyes grow wide, and by instinct, Bob jumps and grabs his daughter mid-air, turning and and taking all of the impact of the fall. Bob looks at his daughter, sees the damage all over her body, and realizes what he's done. He holds her tight in anguish, torn up after fighting his own daughter. We aren't sure if she's even okay until Violet says "D-Dad, too tight, ow, ow." He pulls back; we see Violet is now conscious. Bob tries to apologize, emotionally stuttering on every syllable, but Violet is quick to interrupt and forgive him. "You were under mind-control by a villain called 'Screenslaver.' How else could this have gone down?"

I’m having a hard time with this ending. The Underminer is to much in my opinion. Much like Doomsday was too much in Batman v Superman. One of the big issues with Incredibles 2 is the fact that it rehashes themes that we seen in superhero movies over the past decade. This fix would just include one of those clichés (a robot army). I think at some point the Incredibles should realize that they’re not going to be able to get the glasses off of everyone and they should make a new plan. Elastagirl should leave to stop the screenslaver on the plane because the glasses are controlled from inside the plane. Bob and the kids hold everyone off while she does that. Helen is like, “Are you sure I should go honey?” Bob says, “We got this, go save the world.” Bob has struggled to let go of the breadwinner mentality. This concludes his arc. We get a similar sequence in the air the we got in the movie. The glasses get turned off. The End. No robots.

I totally agree with you, Jack Jack is cute and everything but in the finale, he was only used as a tool to keep the story going. Also, he snapping the glasses out of Elastigirl heads was totally cheesy, Violet and Dash teaming up and beating his parents would add a whole more of value

Edgy Veggie scream is a bit underrated tbh she hasn’t been in the comics for a while

I love how you went for the robot army for the Underminer as that's what happens in the game; it'd be a nice callback for people who enjoyed the game to get a proper reference to it

you lost me a little bit towards the middle, but boy, the ending is AMAZING! I wish it was that way
