Never drop the spark plugs in, and never, ever tighten them with a Dremel because as you guys can see he didn’t guide them in by hand, which most likely will cause striping and trash the head block. Can cost 1,000’s of dollars to replace.

@@matthewmoe when you disconnect the battery and reconnect it all the lights will appear on your dash, all you need to do is drive around a little bit and they should reset themselves and clear off the dash. Also rule of thumb, when disconnecting the battery, always go negative first then positive, and when reconnecting go positive first then negative. That way you ensure nothing goes wrong. Thank you very much, you just saved me $350. A little word to the wise is an air hose or compressed air to clean computer keyboards may work( if you have one) and blow around the spark plug before you remove it that will obviously remove any sander debris that may have fallen around the spark plug.

dont ever use a drill to put them back on but its kool to take them out using an impact drill. also use a magnet to pull them out and use a hose that fits snugg the tip of spark plug to guide it in. the thighten lightly using only 3 fingers.

I can answer that. I’ve changed mine 3 times already and there is a good amount every time. Very dirty too. I check it after every oil change but you can do every other oil change but you have a full can of oil.

Not the K20 this is Honda's pride and joy. In stock form they're designed to last as long (200,000+miles) as the K20 in the older RDX.

Get one with the k20c2. It’s a 2.0L N/A with port injection. No turbo or and oil dilution problems. Also the port injection is tried and true and cleans the intake valves of any carbon deposits from the EGR and PCV system. If you plan on modding it a ton though, the newer 1.5L is okay and doesn’t suffer from oil dilution as much. There’s a lot more mod support than the 2.0.

So from what I see the spark plugs are 14mm socket and unscrew them by hand and screw in by hand and to not drop spark plugs but guide it to the botttom and to torque and screw it again by hand not power drills

Since it’s been tuned, have you taken it to the dealer? I’m afraid if I tune mine I’ll take it to get an oil change or something and they’ll see I have it tuned and void the warranty

A lot told me they can’t see it if you remove the tune. Doing simple things like oil changes they won’t check. They will scan the car only when you bring it in if it has an codes or let’s say your transmission went bad. I was talking to a guy that been doing service for the past 14 years in a Hyundai delaership and he we don’t waste our time unless we know the car is modified then we scan it.

I was so excited to change mine but I I found out that a ½ socket is not going fit deep in there, It's a little thicker than what can fit. I have a ⅜ short socket but you need a deep socket. I guess off to Harbor Freight it is.

While I am not one who things the internet is a good thing because everyone out there will pretend like every little mistake will blow your engine up, I will say that I don't think dropping the spark plugs in the way you did is a good thing to do. When they fall in, its can change the gaps. That being said, it doesn't mean it will change the gaps. Probably better to just use a magnet to gently put them in. I doubt your engine is going to blow up. Using the electric gun to screw the new plugs in is probably also risking crossthreading them. I know what you are saying, the chances are very low of that happening especially in a new engine. True, but consider this. It takes an extra 15 minutes to just thread them in by hand. Worst case you lose 15 minutes. However you will have to take the engine apart if you do screw the aluminum. NGK recommends no more than 14 ft-lbs of torque applied with aluminum. Not because the plugs can't hand it, but because the aluminum engine can't handle it. Those electric drills can easily accidentally put more than 30 ft-lbs. I guess it is your car though, you are free to do whatever you want.

Spark plugs have gaps between the two pieces where the spark actually happens. Some spark plugs come pre-gapped and some you have to got them yourself using a gaping tool. When you drop them in like that, whenever they hit the bottom, it could move the gap. You wouldn’t believe how easy and little pressure would cause that to happen. When you dropped them in there, you messed up the gap and they all have to be the same on all four plugs.

I CRINGED THE moment the drill came on, and when you JUST Dropped the sparks backs down there, spend another $1-$2 for a Magnetic Spark Plug Specific socket, When re-installing New Spark plugs, insert into the SOCKET first and gently install each one of them back in the motor! Rule of thumb: Anything Under the Hood Always by hands only, no matter how long it takes nor What it takes to be loosen up.

But I didn’t use the impact gun though lol. I literally mentioned it in the video that you shouldn’t use it. I only used to to loosen the rest of it cuz it takes forever to remove. The second thing. In the video I dropped the spark plugs then I hand tightened them first and then I used the impact gun and very low speed and the final touches I did them manually. Please watch the video again to see what I mean

Did they come pre "gapped" I haven't done anything with plugs since my 85 Blazer but I remember never being sure if I got the gap right. Now my 2018 Accord Sport is all messed up in limp mode, so frustrating trying to figure out what's wrong.

Well it could be the fuel pump. My car turns on and it drives normal. But then after few mins you hit the gas and it goes in limp mode and all the lights turn on and there is no power at all. If that’s your issue then spark plugs. If you have less than 60k take it to the dealership. Mine was tuned so I was like I’ll just change it myself

@@Iegend17 Mine is not tuned, 3750 miles, I have back issues, hurts to drive, so it's just a grocery getter a couple times a month. I just drove it and it was fine for about 10 mins with no codes but then sluggish so I parked. It threw 2 codes this time another misfire on 1 and a "P0113 Intake Air Temp Sensor 1 circuit high." I saw someone saying it might be a dirty MAF sensor. No auto parts store in walking distance...F***

It really depends on your car. Toyotas and hondas typically have longer spark plug life spans just cause they are well made vehicles but the most common answer is between 32,000 and 50K miles. Never wait until there is a cylinder misfire cause it an harm your vehicle. Im doing mine at 40 k miles.

@@Iegend17 Misfire has absolutely nothing to do with any form of your Answer 3 things cause misfire so you understand Air /Fuel mixture is incorrect to ignite and loss of compression and incorrect timing caused by worn plugs fouled or damaged spark or fuel or fuel delivery system a cracked distributor cap from before they switched over to distributer delete coil overs are now used for faster direct cleaner firing of cylinders or bad wires but in newer cars a bad coil or plug wires bad plugs fouled or damaged incorrect air fuel mixture These are generally the main culprits Has monthlong to do with things working harder in engine That does not explain musfiring

You should not have dropped the spark plugs in like that, you should have had the correct spark plug socket to hold them and easily slide them in. The way you did it will change the gap on the spark plug and you will lose power and efficiency. You don’t know what you are doing.

@@jonp2338 congrats. Yes I sold it I wanted something faster and AWD for that New England weather. Man it’s the best investment ever. No oil changes, no gas, and no spark plus lol. Charging cost me $10 at home and the car gives me little over 300 miles on a full charge

Never drop the spark plugs in never use a power tool and your supposed to do at the right spec with a torque wrench

This guy is insane he using the impact gun on coil pack bolts and to get the plugs in?? 😭 bro please stop doing that I can’t imagine what else you’re using an impact on. For anyone else watching do not use a gun on any simple DIY like this or anything really. Probably my least used tool and I gotta do this everyday

Well I mentioned this in the video. To loose up the bolt I used the wrench 🔧 but to do the rest of the work I used the impact gun. Trust me I have seen people use an impact gun to tighten and loosen up sparks lol. I was going slow and that’s after they got into the grooves.

Gonna be a day where those threads gonna sit wrong and that impact completely destroys whatever you’re about to thread in. But keep doing what you’re doing G 👍🏼 atleast it’s a new car can’t stress this enough for any old buckets but what do I know
