Likewise Lizz, highlight of the week was walking my Grandad to the bookmakers shop on a Saturday morning, always got a cream cake on the way home and a quality afternoon with him watching the racing - miss him dearly and the wonderful days of channel 4 racing 🙁
It was wonderful to hear this theme tune around 9 am on a Saturday morning. You knew the weekend was here. I miss the "old" channel 4 racing and the morning line.
RIP Hubert Holroyd. A devoted father, husband and the most caring, loving, wise grandad anyone could have hoped for. Just wish I'd have listened to a bit more of his advice.

They’ve ruined it now on ITV. Gone are the days of Alistair Down, Francome & Big Mac. They’d never get jobs these days, they know too much about racing and too little about wokeism.

this takes me back to a smoky bookies, only tall enough to see OAP backsides (I was only 8 or 9) back when the rules were different, I can still remember falling off a stool and whacking my head on the floor tiles and NOT 1 fella looked away from the Catford listings of the newspaper !!! - and C4 racing diary, I distinctly remember my dad having 1 edition with Dessie on the cover .... AAAH YESTERDAY !!
What a song this was representing horse racing, horse jumping, Shetland pony local, region and national championships and other horse race events I was quite young when this song played you cannot find it on soundtrack anywhere but it’s quite an upbeat to represent the winners and record holders for their countries, counties and other towns who are famous from past to this present day some have long gone and others are new to it.
everything about this is just superb, a happy fast tune that entices the feel of horse racing and a very clever use of the Channel 4 logo that fits so well. they could remake a HD version for todays use but sadly theme tunes are just crap. All of the sky themes are crap too.Whatever people think of him John Mccririck was Horse racing period. Free terrestrial sports is dying, how come us brits have to pay sky for the ashes yet in Oz its free on channel 9!
Whhy here... Am reminiscing losing all my pocket money with mates who are heavens casino.. Mad tho.. Addictions ravaged us all.. Was gambling the precursor...
