Here is a very rare treat. A CTV startup sequence in good quality. And it goes the TSW/HTV route by filming around the Channel Islands with the lone Fremont Point transmitter taking centre stage. With some classical music over it.

When I was watching the series, _Squid Game,_ the classical music in some of the episodes plays on the loudspeakers... and I suddenly recognized it. I had heard the music here, having watched it too many times for me to count. Plus, I understand that the reason why Channel Television changed its logo probably at the time was because of the then-new franchise period... and since Westward became TSW, the 1962-82 logo was no more, ergo the CTV -- Channel Television logo was created and put to use.

i remember the absolute SHOCK & AWE of seeing the CTV logo appear on my screen here in Aldershot, Hants when i watched a programme about the jersey flower show. I had assumed it would have been made by some ITV company "visiting" the island rather then by CTV so to see the logo as the show started made me gasp out loud.I would have thaught that CTV, being so restricted by its very limited advertising revenue, would have had problems paying the light bill so getting a programme NETWORKED was an event indeed. Never seen the logo on TV since!.

Obviously inspired by the Westward start-ups. Channel's version wasn't as impactful, but for such a small broadcaster they made a good effort.

Like if Channel had any other transmitters to begin with in the first place! (I'm purposefully ignoring Les Touillets and other relays)

@@PriddhasPengu Technically it’s true as while the IBA had only the one main mast on the island, they did have two main transmitters. One for 405 lines (until 1985) and the other for 625 lines.

If I recall correctly France used a broadcast method called SECAM which wasn't compatibility with the system ITV/BBC used so the Channel Islanders wouldn't have been able to pick up French TV despite it's closeness although I suppose some might have had French TV sets?

I suppose they were able to pick up SECAM, but only in black and white, I think.

I was in a French supermarket in Calais the 1980s and they had dual standard televisions for sale, showing English and French tv, so I guess they may have similar sets in Jersey and Guernsey

Was the CTV logo at the end ever used as a front cap on a networked programme by Channel?

Knowing pre-1989 ITV, the answer would be yes.

@@PriddhasPengu Provided they did actually ever contribute anything to network programming. Being the small station they were, I doubt they ever did.

@@PriddhasPengu pre 1988 - all frontcaps were dropped by ITV in January 1988.

@@mondegreen9709 They produced a few series for the network. The Dodo Club and Gallery come to mind. Also contributions to anthology series such as About Britain and Highway.
