After more than 2 decades following your career ,and another 10 years absorbing everything in your art lessons, the amount of value I received is incalculable. Starting my own indie art house and following my dreams has been a blessing I could not have imagined when buying your first workshop. I still regularly reference your workshops to new team members, or random people that ask me questions to get them up to speed. I think for the weeks you don't have a regular video to share, that having a preview montage of your box sets would excite and be beneficial to artist who have not seen or yet to purchase your gumroad content. Thank you Trent, for all you do. - Billy B.

I love the twilight game videos which is like a sneak peak of what goes into developing a game and I wanted to note that in my opinion, most unique thing about your channel is that you talk about the game dev industry and what happens there, what is expected of artist from real world perspective and not just selling the dream...etc. also the unlicensed therapist videos lol.

I mostly come here for the motivational speeches! Solo indie dev is really, really lonely most of the time so sometimes just hearing a friendly voice telling me not to give up is really helpful. (Bonus points if there's a chill beat in the background.)

I've commented before. I'm an indie novelist. I like the cool art, but I mostly come here to hear and get realigned with the pep talks, work ethic talks, real talk about what it means to be a working artist. You could call it the spiritual aspects of what you're doing here. :] I like that. It's why I'm here. I dig the positive work hard vibes. Thanks for doing that. It's a big deal.

Hey Trent, I've been watching your videos for years now and I always appreciate your art and your chill perspectives. My request would be to make videos on the team management side of game production. Art is always a fun challenge, and I love to hear your tips on it, but I think people present far more complex challenges when it comes to taking and giving critique, setting appropriate work life boundaries and how to approach team dynamics when egos get involved. Thanks!

The game is looking absolutely sick Trent. Honestly I don't have much I am looking forward to in games at the moment. Other than indie games. I grew up on story driven RPGs and such and those these days are few and far between. Having a classic style metroidvania to look forward to, by and artist I enjoy, is pretty killer. Not been watching as much as I had been sadly. Though your videos have helped me tremendously and I've been putting more time into projects, Using a good bit of your wisdom and knowledge I've found in some of your videos. Seeing how you developed your game would be great content for sure! Mostly interested in your process and thoughts on story telling and world building in this game specifically.

Hi Trent! I always find your content very helpful, especially your perspective as an artist in the game market. I’ve been working joining game jams for fun, but also to hone some skills as a concept artist. Any suggestions when working on designs and in game art in such a condensed time frame? Jams normally go from 3-7 days and having a good idea of what’s most critical to the project could really make the experience an exceptional one. Keep on doing all the wonderful work you do!

I'm sure you've done a video on this sometime somewhere, but the thing that's snagging me right now is my physical to digital conversion. I can do the circles and the snakey lines and all that, but no matter what everything I make digitally looks like something I would've made 15-20 years ago physically. I can be satisfied with my physical art and make notes of improvement on the next one, but every single time I pull out my drawing tablet, it's a failure and I have not improved. I've even tried using vector art programs and scanned my physical artwork to just trace and fill them in, but even that looked horrific. I feel like I'm missing some kind of simple detail, possibly something about how lines work on computers, that just isn't clicking like it did when I went to college for physical arts. Another video I'd love to see is on sprites. How do you determine their proportions, what details do you carry over from the main artwork, how do you plan them out, are there multiple varients such as Overworld and Platforming sprites being different or are they the same, do some minor characters get made as sprites and then drawn in full later, what methods of animation are there for animating 2D sprites and what determines when you use spine or frame-by-frame for Twilight Monk? Stuff like that. I find it very fascinating because 2D art can go as detailed as it wants, down to having UV maps, or pull back to be more simplified. Love to hear more on it! More the creative and big decisions than a tutorial, if you will. Always appreciate the videos and gumroad stuff. Thanks for sharing your industry knowledge, and lowering that barrier to entry!

So I wonder what your view about this and near future possibilities of AI? Even though we all agreed that AI will never replace human's craft, but common people outhere often can't recognize the difference visually. Previously it's proven by showing the speedpaint, but now that AI even able to do that. I just... don't know anymore

@TrentKaniuga
@TrentKaniuga 2 месяца назад
I never really thought about that. You could ask if the Legacy of Kain series was concerned with their "Raziel" character being associated with the bible, which is where the name originated from.
@nickphilipps3900
@nickphilipps3900 2 месяца назад
@@TrentKaniuga I don't disagree, nor am I implying that you stole the name since it is not copyrighted and yes, it's from the bible. I was genuinely curious if you thought about that and decided your character had to be named like this anyway, because the legacy of kain series is an already well established IP and raziel is a very memorable and special character, both in design and name..I could make a game and name my protagonist Snake for example, since that name comes from the natural kingdom, but I would worry about my character having less impact on the public(since kojima got there first 😛), while using a more original name could help him stand out. Anyway, I wish you the best for your game, it looks really awesome!
