Secondly, they did not beat RN, it is still the biggest party in France and if they manage, as a leftist coalition, to beat them, it's thanks to the presidential group, which the left always said to fight against. They only "beat" the right by spreading their legs to the enemies.
@@SirPaillasson RN was formed by far-right groups, imperialist groups, collaborators from the Vichy regime and former SS-officers, nazis, etc. although they appear to have moderated, they still have largely the same goals and beliefs. The left won fair and square, in a far better system than the american or british one. And thank god for that, as RN well and truly sucks.

In many ways socialism is actually a continuation of the French revolution. However it is important to remember that the French revolution was ultimately a failure and foreign powers reestablished the monarchy. The left/right divide we still have today is rooted in that. The left wanted and still wants to push forward the ideals of the French revolution while the right wants to push them back.

You shouldn't have put that picture at the beginning, its actually a picture from 1935 when there was a lot of far-right political parties in France and at this specific moment, this was considered as an attempt of a far-right coup because they were right next to the national assembly and they could have gone in whenever they wanted to.

@@contapendrive1972No there isn't. The PCP got ilegalized in 1926, almost 10 years before the Komintern created the United Front policy (which inspires Einheitfrontlied). In Portugal there wasn't any United Front, so we have no portugues version.

The first image you used after the French flag, at the very beginning 0:08, shows the " les ligues" equal "the leagues", fascist sympathizing groups in the early 1930s. But this music is a socialist song therefore opposed to this kind of ideas, this is why the leagues were banned in 1936 after the victory of the "Popular Front--Front populaire", an alliance of all left-wing parties, bringing together socialists, communists and radicals.
