It went well in most parts of the country. Most Dutch-Turkish people I talked to sais they would win no matter what. Like those two gentlemen in the video. And also the Dutch law enforcement works a lot with undercover units just wearing civilian clothing. They are armed though. We call them Romeo's. It is quite effective for RIOT police (ME or mobiele eenheid) as well. They deploy a squad of about eight agents in the middle of the rioters so they can single out instigators before they spread their madness.

Sadly its something we are used to at this point. The Schilderswijk is notorious for things like this in the Netherlands as its one of the most crime ridden parts of a city (Den Hague) in any city in our country. Worst thing about it all? The riots weren't even started by the Turkish people there. But the Moroccan who just wanted to riot... They instigated it and the rest escalated quickly.

Those were indeed undercover cops. They have camera cars to spot people who throw fireworks and use dangerous weapons and then undercover cops pick them out of the crowd. "Dumpert Filmt Je Werkplek S03E07: ME" Shows all the different devisions of the police. It is a very good video showing the last matches before Feyenoord won the Eredivision from the Police perspective. Unfortunetly only auto generated subtitles.

Just foorball and new years eve it turns into a battlefield. It’s always Hobbemaplein, Hobbemastreet and Vaillantlaan where the trouble is. It’s also a small group of people that ruins it for the rest. Most Turkish people are friendly, helpful, etc. There’s a million different ethnicities in the Schilderswijk and Transvaal, and I love it. The news explained it was a riot between Dutch Turkish and Dutch Kurds, an opressed minority from Turkey - most likely because of the grey wolves greeting (perceived as political). This is a very small area in The Hague which is known for having clashes regularly, so dispersing often happens before things get way out of hand. The honking, the fireworks, the cheering and yelling are all celebratory, but things can go wrong (late at night, alcohol etc). Its not such a big deal. Dutch Turks are very much part of a positive mixed culture in Holland ❤🧡 Oh and Turkey played extremely well. And PS yes those were police without uniform, a special task unit, just intervening and dispersing a small conflict.

I believe these Dutch-Turkish fans are mostly celebrating for Holland. This is how they celebrate often, but it can easily look like they were protesting instead lol 😂. They hold the Turkish flag as well to honor their team at the same time. These celebrations can go out of hand easily because of the neighborhood they’re in, which just generally has more crime. Edit: And yes the Turkish are one of the largest group of immigrants in Holland

The schilderswijk is a neighbourhood in Den Haag, or the Hague. It's a bit of a run-down, deprived area. This is actually not as bad as it looks. This often happens after football matches, started by a few violent people, and fuelled by alcohol. This is relatively mild for a football match. Dutch hooligans can be pretty violent, though when the national team plays, it usually doesn't. This was a fairly isolated incident.

I actually heard that there was some rioting in the schilderwijk, which has a high Turkish population and some other Muslim minorities. These people are often of 3rd generation Turkish decent but though they have a Dutch nationality they still feel a strong bond with the land of their forefathers and rather take the side of Turkey than of the country that feeds them. I also heard that many of these Dutch-ethnic Turks accepted their loss, put away their Turkish flags and decorations and took out their Dutch flags and put on their orange shirts and started partying. Don’t worry the riots were exaggerated a bit and really shouldn’t get any media coverage. I think it does more harm than good to show this. It’s just that Turkish people are very excitable, nothing wrong with that, by the time it’s morning they will have calmed down and go on with life.

Calling this "chaos in the Netherlands" is besides the truth. There might have been sporadic riots here and there. I personally only heard of this one. It is a notorious neighbourhood that is often negative in the news unfortunately. You know people from the press: bad news is real news. The rest of the country is celebrating including the Turkish people that are sportive. I saw a lot of Turkish people state on television beforehand that they were looking forward to a nice sporting event, and that the best might win. I like that attitude . You won't see me in the neighbourhood where this happened. And when we loose? 99.9999999 percent of the Dutch will be disappointed, but at the same time be proud of what the team achieved. And remember the nice vibe we had. One day later: life goes on. And if they win? Unimaginable, but the party will even be bigger!!!

It's usually only The Hague and Rotterdam. The Turkish Consulate in Rotterdam and the Turkish embassy The Hague are consistently promoting Turkish Nationalism and sometimes a bit of anti-Dutch sentiment. Like when The Netherlands refused a member of Turkish parlement entry to the country, because she was going to speak at pro-Erdogan rallies in Rotterdam and The Hague. Reason being, we do not allow Turkish (foreign) politics openly practiced within Dutch borders, in this manner. As a reaction, the Turkish embassy and consulate enticed Turkish people to protest., with false pretenses. (This is usually referred to as: "The long arm of Istanbul") Same goes for Morocco, but it's the King and Royal family of Morocco who are the culprits of trying to influence beyond their borders.

These subs are automatically generated, I guess, and for that reason only making the translations awful. You heard a tv commentator mention the name Verbruggen. That is the Dutch goalkeeper. But the subs show you 'Bruges', and yes, that is a city in Belgium. You see what kind of misunderstandings that can create for non-native speakers? By the way, this happens quite a lot of times, and soccer fans are often the reason. Don't think that it's just only or always the Turkish doing this, because the Dutch themselves are 'good' at this themselves too. We may be known for partying wild with big hordes of peaceful people. But wait until the national club competitions get started, because then a small but significant part of the same large group of fans turn into the same kind of maniacs that they blame the Turkish to be. I'm Dutch myself, but I'm telling you honestly that many among us are a bit hypocritic and not as tolerant to those being different as foreign viewers may think.
