Folks like me in northern WV, we haven't seen weather like this in about a decade. Mainly cold rain and a little freezing drizzle here. On the upside, I've never shoveled drizzle.
Aaand the sun’s out it’s 41 degrees and Ruby Hill Park is filled with the sounds of chatter, laughter and rapidly melting snow / running water. Colorado is glorious!
I miss snow like that we use to get that kind of snow once in a while when I lived in NJ. Now I’m in TX 10 years and I haven’t seen any snow. I know some of these people can’t help but be out on the road but for Gods sake those that can stay home please do.
Where is the problem? Here in Germany we have to use Winter tires from Oktober until Easter. Maybe not necessary in each corner in the country, but helpful. And here in the black forest there is somtimes lots of snow. My husband and I never have problems because of the tires and 4WD. We love to drive in the snow, especially at night when the snow plow wasnt there.
Good tires are important. Looks like a fast moving storm caught motorists unaware and unprepared. Why wouldn’t you own 4wheel drive or all wheel drive living in Denver, or carry tire chains? The conditions look fine for travel. Slow down and never ever lose your momentum. That can only happen if drivers space themselves out and give each other room. I own my own tractor and trailer. Denver drivers are not very good in the snow. I roll through Denver in these sort of conditions at 3 A.M. at 50 MPH. 80,000 pounds keeps you on the roadway. I would also have both drive axles chained up and one trailer axle chained up. I would roll through town and head west up and over the Rockies. I don’t play this game. I park east of town and start driving at midnight.
That’s why you should stay home when you got big storms out there or maybe the highways can’t handle the job. I seem worse in New York state upstate finger lake region and I love it pound the roads like this weather right you have now 30 mph or 35 where I am
My boss forced us to stay open cuz she said “we’re adults and a little snow isn’t a good reason to close” my car got stuck 3 times before I had to abandon it. I wish I never left my apt that day 😭
how did you get stuck? i have winter tires and a base model sedan fwd. i turn off traction control to get more power. ive maybe driven in 1 foot of snow.
I'm from FL I have been in Colorado springs for almost 10 yrs I would not be out in that I know some people have to especially the semi trucks that's crazy
Someone needs to tell that state's DOT that there is a new invention called a "snowplow!" As for the drivers, there's some new inventions for them as well: "snow tires and tire chains!"
Choas on the roads in Denver is seven days a week, fifty-two weeks out of the year phenomena. I've driven all over the United States (including Hawaii and Alaska) as well as internationally. If ever there's a World Cup of Lousy Drivers or it becomes and Olympic event...Colorado will send the Team Captain and a large portion of the team itself.
This is nothing if you actually have a brain. I keep winter tires on all 4 wheels on any car I own from October through April. All-season tires are a total joke. Rear -wheel drive cars are not sufficient, you must have an AWD car at the minimum in Colorado. The people getting stuck either have bald tires or all season tires and should not be allowed on the road.
People and their damn so called all season tires. Whoever came up with that term is a horrible person. They get people killed. Even if you manage to go a little you need to remember you have to stop and go around turns as well. A shame so many will never know just how good true winter tires are. They make a major difference in your winter driving experience. Just once in your life put a set on your vehicle. Remember it doesn't matter how many wheels have power, if your tires cannot get a grip, you are just as stuck.
Thats because the batteries over heat an catch fire trying to get through the snow an. all vehicles be it gas or electric sit to low to the ground. Further hindering the mobility of the vehicle
