Man, Alarios' stories of his IG regiment and their shenanigans is a throwback I wasn't prepared for. I absolutely loved reading his batreps back in the day - his custom preacher models with enormous custom eviscerators made me want to try my hand at a custom regiment and models. What a wonderful bit of nostalgia.

I'm so happy Regular John got a happy ending wherein he can still enjoy 40k with a more healthy relationship to the game. 😊 It's also just incredible when a tabletop gaming character earns an amazing title such as Heartbreaker! 🤩 Reminds me of an AD&D wizard I read about dubbed "The Finger that Killed a God", because when everyone else fell to Lolth herself, this guy managed to successfully cast Disintegrate through all of the Spider Queen's spell resistance. To me this story's even more exciting than that one! ❤‍🔥

He also had a sword, at least in ther German text it was described as : The claw of the Desert Tige if Al Rahem fights, this weaopon causes instant death regardless of the opponets toughness. Make of that what you will. Also another quirk of ther German Codex was the discription of the Walkyrie : Howling over the battlefield the Walkyire peppers the disembarking soldiers with her rocket salvos. Good times to play guard indeed.

@@keyanklupacs6333 The was it was worded, he didnt need to wound. But thats a technicality. On the other hand there wasnt that much stuff over T6 besides Wraithlords and tanks did work completly different.

@@vHindenburg yes he did... you still need to wound to inflict instant death as per the core rule book. It was just for the purposes of applying the "instant death" effect he didnt need to have double the strength of the opponents toughness.

@@keyanklupacs6333 I dont deny that , but rules usually were phrased after wounding, in this case it wasnt. Still its funny to remove a demon prince in that case. Remember it was only toughness 5 or six the later in the case of Nurgle.

Listening to those always makes me want to get my Guard out and play a tournament. And I'm not really a competitive player in any form, nor is Guard one of the factions I am actually working on currently (Drukhari and Grey Knights and a small nurgle daemon force on the side). But it is my first 40k faction and my heart will always be with the Guard.

I used to take the PDF list from codex Armageddon. Conscripts ain't got nothing on hive gang militia. 4pts WS/BS 3 choice of rifle, shotgun, or pistol and combat weapon. No armour and LD 5 wasnt great but the gang keader was LD 8 and i would keep commissar's around. Also turned up in a WD city fight guard army list. Not sure when the PDF list truly became a non legal list as it was a dimple list of units you can take from the guard codex. Rather limiting in unit choice but added the new militia unit. It would of worked without issue with each new guard codex up until 8th changed stat lines. Maybe an issue with the Griffon after the guard codex dropped it and before forgeworld added it back

invisibility was a horrific ability, worse is when an entire sodding army got it. A game I played back when gathering storm book one was new (early 2017) my opponant who is a tournament player and I am a far more casual player. forget killing any of his units i barely wounded any unit in his army and a knight i was running got bullied by 2 invisible int 10 demon princes in melee that couldn't see them and even in death it didn't kill them. i get demons are meant to be a strong army lore wise but that was utter bullshit and i wouldn't play that player again for 3 years

When you were talking about "Drowning the enemy in bayonets and bodies" with the Darktide footage in the background, I couldn't help but wonder if the game will ever give the option for vanguard to replace his melee with a bayonet letting the player charge the enemy in proper style. EDIT: My knowledge of Darktide is lacking it seems, just saw that there is a bayonet is in the game.

well me did just troops one time agest tau and gut had lot BIG batel suits and me with no tanks just have weapens laz canes and H bolters thats if why had my girl guard minis and just whated show off did not think i get a game hek did have books but i played em and yes the mini he ues cud ben paited better and see what ueing UUUGGG tesrors OIL bass paint not good did say a thing but ho hek i like had my paints with me cud dun some thing cano might fix it but i played and did ok whas beaten but tuck me last five turns all my girls to die big but rip tyed zap all had wish cud re did with tanks and more troops but place cloed if do be fun hek

@@sleepingbee8997 just seems like he explains away all his actions and army choices as “cool and fun and just being a good dude” and then the opponent is always painted as some cheese-fingered power gaming douche that everyone knows and hates. I haven’t heard the story you mentioned, but the few I have listened to are all very “it happened and then everybody stood up and clapped and loved me”.
