Friendly advice from my Editing days: When you plan to have multiple short shots in succession, NEVER use easy in and out on the camera; stick to Linear motions...

not NEVER, just sometimes. by default most 3d apps are set to ease in ease out and ppl associate its excessive use with beginners. However, there's not reason not to use it in certain situations when you end a sequence and before you switch spaces, a transition in mood or even score etc. Never say never, it makes you seem ignorant to how artmaking works in practice. Good editors, motion artists and animators know when to apply and break rules so there is no NEVER.

honestly unreal is very difficult for beginners, and for this quality of scene in ue5, i believe need so much effort for this awesome scene. thanks for this comparison, it's great ❤❤

Thank you for your time and effort in making this comparison. I've always preferred Vantage over UE5 for now, because it's really simple and I don't have much time to invest into learning UE5 as the learning curve is huge. Especially with the material creation and blueprints in general.

You would need to use the new experimental Substrate materials in UE5 to get the best glass material I would assume. Rasterized glass and even Ray traced glass is one of the bigger disadvantages of unreal I would say with Arch Viz

@@MIMVizStudio i usually have these noise or light flickers around my light source whenever i render animation using chaos vantage. Ps. I use the default value of 100 in the sample.

It's well made! The refractive effect of chaos ventage is so beautiful In the case of unreal, the refraction effect is still unfortunate, so there is room for better later

But if Vantage's advantage only works in Arch-Viz then it's kinda useless to me since I'm more in the film/VFX side of computer graphics. But hey, good to know it does what it does well! Might look into it if it becomes versatile enough for film/VFX.

You can create similar glass material in Unreal aswell. Unreal is not an arch viz tool, it is a game engine, it require us to spend some time to learn.

Substrate has many issues though but once it is fully developed glass and metals will be able to look great without any issues.

if you use Path Tracing you have a more detailed and accurate rendering ..... dont forget the inteactive render in Unreal Engine from my opinion Unreal Engine the goat

Wouldn't path tracing make unreal slower than vantage in this situation? Interior GI and glossy refraction is the bread and butter for chaos.

I like these comparisons but they are always comparing straight forward approach in UE5, the result would be much better if an experience unreal artist doing it (it takes time but worth it), thanks ❤.

looks like chaos did quite a few versions since this video came out. I doubt they will ever surpass lumin and nanite but it looks like there's plenty of new functionality. I also don't think the comparison is complete if you dont consider LiveLink. Standalone Vantage(vrscene) has very limited camera moves and animation controls but when you consider livelink its basically whatever you can do in max, cinema, maya etc. Unreal on the other hand is only standalone and requires either a full commitment to working in UE or extensive exporting import.

Vray (Vantage) has the same as nanite, it's called Proxy, and they are still or animated. Vray has animated proxies since year 2007. What he should do is to convert that displaced wall to a proxy, and all the vegetation should be proxy as well.

Having watched the video, I am convinced that sticking with Chaos Vantage is the best decision for me instead of investing time to learn Unreal. The video helped me realize the benefits that Chaos Vantage can offer, and I am confident that it will enable me to achieve my goals.

Vantage for small scenes (fast setup) . Unreal for large environment ( plants, trees etc)

Vantage render time would significantly decrease if you turn off the fur, and if you were able to get the glass right in UE5 the rendering time might increase as well.

So as someone that's worked with and have been working with both since inception. Chaos = great for stills and architecture and displays , product stills for production. Unreal for everything else. One is free, one costs an arm and leg, nevermind if you are a max or maya user and also need to purchase vray to make vantage worth it. Yes unreal learning curve is steep, but the fact that I can render Realtime, have vfx, have media plates, intricate animation, panning shots are smooth out the box and the quality is far far superior especially if you understand lumen and how to use it correctly , unreal literally seal clubs vantage into the ground. But then again, the hardware used for really epic work in unreal is far steeper than what vantage needs out the box. So shell out money for software or shell out money for hardware. Choice is yours

Absolutely! UE is a rasterizer with some raytracing processes (a game engine) while Vantage is a pure bidirectional pathtracer.

@@mae2309 yes I agree its about how you use lumen, a talented person can make materials and other settings to be better quality than this, this video doesnt know how to properly use lumen. Lighting and colors dont even adjusted to match in both rendering, its obvious in this video, even sun angle is different, shadows are perfectly different he didnt even make things equal , there cant be such comparison., But let people believe such comparisons :)) they dont notice simple lighting difference and still say this is the proof of lumen is bad. its interesting really,

Cualquier youtuber te dirá que los productos de chaos son mejores que los de unreal. Mucha gente opina de Unreal pero no sabe manejarlo, ni configurar sus materiales. El sólo hecho de que Unreal sea realidad virtual, interactivo ya lo hace superior. Para Renders todo se mejora con phoshop u otros editores de video. me llama mucho la atención que todos los render de unreal se presenten sin contraste ni corrección de luz. Bueno, hay que pagar la oficina y los gastos. Los software de 2000 dolares no pueden morir frente a un software gratuito. Lo mejor es que cada uno haga sus comparaciones en su casa con su propio modelo. Lo unico que le falta a Unreal son los mapas de oclusion ambiental, el resto es muy superior... en fin disfruten.

I think U need to learn UE 5.4 in a better way. UE has a very detailed Displacement way. moreover nanite supports displacment. it depends on how good your displacement textures are

10h renders in architecture makes no sense. So many things change in the process of building. A decent close to realtime export is enough.

From what I see in terms of quality and definition, Chaos projects are better, it seems that global illumination is better... but that's my perception.

The results for 900 frames and realtime rendering is "hours" ? 10 Hours for Vantage and 4.5 Hours for Unreal on a 3090 RTX? This sounds just like path racing to me. I'd believe it if you said minutes.

The rendering effect of UE5 is much worse than that of CV. Moreover, what UE5 renders is floating and has strange shadows
