I remember have a dream about chaotic like 7 years ago. I didnt know the name of the show so i couldnt find it anywere so i tought it was only that a dream. Yust last year find the show and watched it on amazon prime. aparently i wasnt crazy after all.
Probably not unintentional. Card game animes for some reason always go into extreme topics. Yugioh GX had child grooming, telavangalism and how easy it is to get sucked into cults, genocide, abusive love, self love, drug abuse, learning to grow into an adult etc
I think the Codemasters were scientists that figured out inter-universal travel, maybe with the digitize bodies thing maybe it came after, but accidentally did so by detecting the Cothica(Big source of Magic in their world) and decided for whatever reason to use it to help build Chaotic and pass off the world as a card game. Maybe there's some reason like using the energy from the Cothica makes it more difficult for others to find and they're worried about it's missuse by one or multiple factions(or fearful some might try to invade earth) or they're diffusing the energy for some unexplained reason.
Glad I'm not the only one who thought about the Codemasters having the Cothica. Think the falling water in the Riverlands location comea from the floating Chaotic platform?
They did answer the dying thing. Basically, you can't ever make a second copy of yourself. Your scanner that makes a copy of you can't be used until you reupload. If you die, you can never again enter the world of Chaotic or Perim. Your human self won't die, but you'll always be left hanging as you'll never recover your memories of the place and never get another chance to go there.
If I remember correctly within the first 2 episodes, they just say that your body on earth just kind of auto pilots. As if you are just leaving your day normally just without any memories of the other world With the exception of the last time you log out.
There was an episode that was important for lore that had the big man stuffing himself at the cafeteria testing a theory he can eat everything and remember the taste and texture and feeling of being full while having an empty tummy
I don't think it was _remembering_ the taste/texture and more so the theory that he can be hungry in the real world, stuff his face at the cafeteria there, and then returning to the real world still hungry to stuff his face again a second time
Well good news because high odds that the show and card game are coming back we are waiting on an update soon October 15th the latest but probably around September 25th
As a die hard Chaotic fan of many years, you got pretty much everything accurate and correct in this video! It IS a super insane world now that someone who isn't a huge fan points it out, I never thought it was so complicated. When I opened his video I thought this was going to be about the politics of Perim and stuff. If you want an answer though on why this stuff was never addressed more, it's because that's just not what the show was about. We care about that as nerdy adults, but the show was about the relationships between characters and the creatures in Perim. A lot of episodes had great life lessons for kids like "don't judge someone just by their tribe." Your idea for a show would be great for a more adult fantasy show, but it wouldn't be as grounded in humanity and heart as what the showrunners intended for a younger audience. If you're still curious about the "what happens if you die in Perim" question, a few people below have answered below. But they do actually mention it in the show at least twice. Once when they were talking about this new secret location, Prexxor Chasm, and how some players had gone there but never returned. Also in the M'arillian Invasion arc at one point it gets too dangerous for players so the codemasters shut off access so you can't port back to the world of Chaotic from Perim. That's also one of the things that supports Perim being a real place. Another piece of evidence off the topic of my head is there's an arc where some players run a scam where they find ultra rare locations in Perim, grab a bunch of scans, and then blow up the location to drive up the value. The codemasters and Maxxor get involved with the main characters to stop the players from destroying more of the world. If it were just a simulation, they wouldn't have to do that and could just reset the locations. Unless it's a simulation that the creators no longer have control over...which is a whole other theory unto itself. Hope these answered your questions or gave you more food for thought, thank you so much for talking about one of my favorite childhood shows!
The main plot of the show was planned to be the code masters, and they're implied to not be humans at least not normal ones, there were plans to explore one code master each season and along the way they would expand the chaotic(lobby) with more spaces and maybe even introduce new worlds while working the main mistery of what are the code masters and what they want, problem was that the show was canceled while still on season 2(that's also why some of season 2 feels a bit rushed story wise) so there's nothing much to go from it sadly
if i remember in the show only the owner of the scanner can use it. there was an arc where Tom meets a creature named Smildon who wanted to use his scanner to escape, but couldnt cause onlt the owners can. Great video! happy to see this on my main page.
at the dead thing, maybe doesn't bad happen to the original self. But you don't get your dead back and have to buy a new one, do you have to climb the ranks again to get another code to access the world of chaotic again
Yeah. The human villains got jacked by an Underworlder who used them for slave labor, Sarah (the main girl) was temporarily assimilated into the Danian Hivemind, and Kaz (the protag's best friend) got caught in the Marillian invasion and became one of the many brainwashed masses controlled by the eldritch horrors.
god the chaotic world dodged a bullet by coming out before battlepasses were a thing now that you're saying it outloud "Hey kids, for just $15, you can get a Marvel's Drax skin for Maxor in the Battledrome!"
Just want to point out that while it was not an online game yugioh did the code thing on cards in 2000 for their gameboy colour game "Dark Duel Stories" a full 7 years before chaotic existed as an online game.
This was grating to listen to pal. You really need to work on how you present ideas and your sentence cadence. We get it, you don't know. Once is fine, twice is fine, 50 times is not.
25:13 There was one moment where the Underworld leader tricked the bespectacled spikehaired teen to help and *invaded Earth*, the teen then got the Overworlders on that... and it was all a dream. Also, how you forgot to mention that you can get the creatures's recent memories at time of scanning if you turn into them? In later seasons, it was crucial to even try to stop a 5th group taking over perum
Damn I remember being obsessed with Chaotic when I was younger. I ended up obsessed with similar stories. If you want to experience another story that has a very similar structure of worlduilding with multiple overlapping worlds and digital realms is the manga Dragon Drive. It has Earth, then a virtual hub world for a virtual reality battle world and then another World based on the virtual game.
Wow the kaiba slander is fucking crazy like calling him a crazy sonetimes evil billionare like bro kaiba is who elon musks thinks he is kaiba is more like the dr doom of Yu-Gi-Oh
Just found you bro. I peeped your other videos too gonna probably spend my day watching them all. Definitely interested in that one about striker it’s funny I watched X-men apocalypse the other day and was like oh shit its striker he’s everywhere lol.
I used to love Chaotic so much. I still do, but I used to, too. Honestly, it continues to be my favourite TCG, although a lot of that might be just looking back with rose-tinted goggles.
I didn't watch the show much but I had a lot of the same questions like how many people know about this alternate world stuff and if the hub area is real where is it? I'll go watch the whole series and see if they answer anything
18:08 When someone's Chaotic self dies, then their 'code' is destroyed. So you can't send your memories back and your earth self is gonna wonder what's taking so long, not knowing that they'll never come back. Not only that but your online deck is inaccessible while your code is in Chaotic/Perim, so you won't be able to play online either. Sure you could still have your physical cards, but unique ones like Prexxor Chasm or the M'arillians are online only. Plus imagine knowing about Chaotic but never able to go back, it would suck having to live with that.
Big vibes of "We could be killed. Or worse, expelled" from Hermione Granger. I think the only way to find out what happened to your alternate self would be for a friend in Chaotic to let you know in the real world what happened to your alternate self.
Not to be that guy, but there is an episode in which a few underworlders go to earth, but i dont really recall how that goes. Dont even remember if it was real or some illusion.
We had a what if episode where there was an invasion by the creatures and it was just as messy as you would think. God, this franchise needs to come back and hopefully get back its audience a new for such a fresh take of Isekai and gaming drama.
The only resone to return is that there online deck irl is locked out till they return and anything they scan I'm prime they revice online, and there was dream episode monsters got to earth and it sated only the player can use there sacners
Just wait for time travel to happen that makes even less sense also series kinda implies that one game characters plans to invade earth and series just ends there
25:12 It's funny that you mention this cause they did do an episode where the 4 main factions all arrive and do war on Earth but it's ultimately played off as an "It was all a dream" episode
This show was so fun I remember. I dont think they answer any of your questions but there's a plot line where the world of Parim gets cancer? And that was weird
I fuckin loved the theme song and it's played in the back of my mind for years. Loved the both animation styles surprisingly when im usually very critical of that. Never played the card game. Also holy crap the war time stuff lmfao. I knew trading cards were invented to promote cigarette sales amongst boys but that war stuff was something else, makes you think
BTW they did answer what would happen if a creature from perim try to come to earth. It can't happen because only the owner of a scanner can use the scanner. Also they did a dream episode where the creatures invaded earth.
I think if a creature created a jail braked scanner it would end up as contraband because of the huge espionage risk it would pose for a faction as a scan also included the creatures experiences and abilities. I'm surprised some like Omar didn't try it but he did seem easily distracted. That could have made an interesting arc.
21:55 this is the exact lore they gave us in the digimon liberator web-comic last week (or 3 weeks ago i don't really remember) for why they make their virtual reality card game (no joke)
