Just watched the movie with some friends and some alcohol. We were really expecting the movie to be crazier. We did not expect the second half of this two hour movie to just be business owners and random assholes talking directly to the camera about how great Trump is.
Everytime I poop I think was the hall of presidents what do they mean to me what does that mean to me its like the entire history of the United States flashes before my eyes as I drop one delicious do straight down the toilet
Ok so this movie could have been really good. It could have been about a firefighter grappling with the fact that he risks his life to save people who thinks are throwing their lives away (evangelical perspective of addicts), and he has to contemplate his beliefs because of this.
As a literal child I saved my neighbor's house from burning down after some leaves fell onto an exposed electrical cable they had accidentally dug up. Its disturbing to think I went through more and showed more bravery than some real-ass firefighters whose literal job it is.
It's hilariously accurate for all the wrong reasons (they are both corrupt and vaguely orange). Like, they could have gone with Moses, David, Menachem Ben Judah, Judah Maccabee... Even Ben-Gurion or Sharon. But no, they picked fuckin' Bobo lol. Like no shit he will "be as Netanyahu to America"... A corrupt contemporary leader. There's nothing at all special about that outside of the faux-biblical language.
I've been playing Elden Ring a lot, and when I rewatched this movie I was just waiting for the scene where the prophet fire fighter guy's eyes were burning out of his skull because he just ended up contacting the Frenzied Flame and he's just talking about how Jesus wants him to reduce reality to it's primordial state. Then the brain spasmy doctor and his wife are just like yep Jesus beamed that directly into his brain as his flaming eyeholes are dripping burning eye goo everywhere.
Heads up comrade: The last 7-8ish minutes are repeating the audio from before. The whole bit about how the guy basically has no reaction to having his faith & the existence of god 100% confirmed.
So his doctor was basically a Shaman/witch doctor. Which is pretty funny considering how the people this movie is meant for would knee-jerk react to those names. @@Baseballnfj if people were truly tired of neolib capitalism, they wouldn't have voted for Trump. Sanders was maybe the only one of the 20 that ran in 2016 that wasn't 90+% a neoliberal. Trump had all the boxes checked for that aside from some rhetoric against global free trade but it was mostly just about losing to China and nothing changed. Everything else...austerity, deregulation, privatization... he's just a run of the mill Republican neolib Republicans are far far more neoliberal than Democrats. Not even close. Reagan and Thatcher were pretty much the dawn of the neolib era. But yeah...I don't think people are tired of neoliberalism. If they are they don't show it. Especially R voters.

To be a liberal means that you believe America will always trend in the direction of greater freedom due to what you view as continous progress on social issues. This is extraordinarily dangerous. We can go backwards real quick... especially when the ruling class is able to push ID politics to the point we see now. We're fucked. To be a liberal means that you believe America at its heart is force for good and that means there's nothing, even tearing up the Bill of rights, that they won't do to preserve this "progress".
