After I get off work tomorrow I am going to put on some good music, enjoy a beer or two, and assemble my Auto-Kamado. Thanks for the video, it will definitely help my through this process.
What a great design! Assembling a new cooker is the happiest work a guy can do! I like how the blower is attached. The double wall insulation looks important for a guy with a truck size snowplow.
Nice looking unit. I bought my original Akorn in 2014. Based on information from the web, I bought stainless steel bolts to replace the factory ones before assembling the unit. No rust on any bolts after all these years!
Hi, great video. A couple of questions. 1. Could the new top vent replace the old one? I'm thinking the new style is better and thinking of replacing my damaged old one. 2. Is the ash pan the same size as the old one?
Hey Nestor, thanks for watching! I believe the body is the same as the original Akorn. I haven't tried the vent, but I do know the ash pan fits from the old one (I finished my ribs cook/video with the OG akorn ash pan and no power).
Does the ash pan on your black kamado with the damper fit on the auto kamado? If so, I was wondering if you can use the auto kamado without having it plugged in.
I'm going to see tomorrow - it'd be super handy if it does and if CG would sell the regular ash pan separately for those that want to run this like a normal akorn.

Hey Rob, since you have both the auto and classic kamado can you check if the ash pan from the classic fits on the auto? I'm considering getting a replacement classic pan to allow me to run without power following a hurricane.
