Char-Griller Gravity Fed 980 fan flapper mod. I love it. The problem is, It doesn't match the rest of my char-griller gravity-fed 980s paint. Well today, that all changes. I'll take you to step by step on how to match up your stainless steel Duct Extension to the rest of the char-griller gravity fed 980.

I would use a micro fiber towel when wiping the dust away after sanding. Micro fiber towels don't leave any fibers. Looks good!

Wasn't sure what the reason for painting stainless would be until you got to the end of the video...had me thinking "oh fudge" is this something new, and am I gonna have to paint all my stainless mods? Good to know it's just an OCD thing and not something more. 😝

So this mod is to replace that fan flap and to keep the fan further back from the heat correct? As I'm seeing a lot of complaints of the fan getting damaged and the unit then throwing a code.

@@thegalleryBBQ Yes sir! Looks promising. Wondering which pellet grill goes with a Gravity charcoal for when we are lazy or have no time to fuss on charcoal. Pitboss/Zgrill/Weber/campchef/GMG/etc and what you're liking these days.

I'm looking to get a gravity fed smoker. I seen the video where you compare the Masterbuilt to the Char Grill. After the mod to the fan housing, what grill would you recommend. I'm looking to use it primarily as a smoker for briskets between 12 and 16 lb and ribs, probably 2 to 4 ribs at a time. I do love the smokey flavor.

Toss up! It just depends on which style you like. Barrel or box. That said. You'll need the fan mod! Cheers

do you have a recommendation for replacing that gasket material between the fan housing and the chute?

Mine was still there so that would depend if your is. I'll light a match and move it around all the gaskets but I think I'm good. Tight is tight and as long as somethings there. Should be ok.
