@@joefagot218 I honestly don't see why people have such a big issue with self diagnosis. Obviously it doesn't hold the same weight as a real diagnosis, but sometimes all that's needed is an explanation and in that case it is enough. Obviously by self diagnosing you don't get access to some kind of professional support or anything like that, but that isn't always necessary. Clearly, self diagnosing could lead to getting it wrong, but there are some cases where it is very clear, and sometimes it isn't worth the hassle (or the monetary cost) to get a proper diagnosis.

I have Asperger and I found a letter I wrote about all the knowledge I had of space when I was 10 (I studied space for 2 years): (This is all spelt how I spelt it as a 10 yr old girl) "Space is a mysterious wonder, most people don't understand that the edges of the world don't egsist simply because space is infinite; however, if people are referring to the earth (like 'the edges of the earth' etc.) the earth is infact a demented oval and cannot have any edges. Most people think that the earth looks just like the one you see on globes, but little did you know, because of the rapid rotations the earth makes, it causes the earth to inherit a rather unusual shape. Furthermore, space is infinitly expanded, scientists still don't have any proper evidence that space is infact a mysterious infinite wonder. Even I struggle trying to find out if space is infinite, their can't just be a void that you cannot go past... earlier in the year, I thought that Maybe, just maybe, space could look a little like a half eaten hamburger, if you know what I mean. As you can see from this text, space IS in fact a mystery......" I was shocked when I saw the letter.. this was from when I was 10... EDIT: This is 2 years later and i completely forgot about this haha.. i’m now 13 and i did write this when i was 10 just trying to sound more grown up by saying that i ‘wrote’ it when i was 10. the half eaten hamburger statement threw me off as i was re-reading this haha and that is smarter than i thought i would’ve been. i obviously know more about space now and it still aches my mind to think that the world is infinite. but now the even bigger mystery to me is space time and it really confuses me, for example, there’s a planet 53 light years away from earth, if we (somehow) teleported there would we be 53 years into the past? or when we look through the telescope would the ‘present’ simply be just the past? this is the problem that i ran into and i realized its because we measure time by how long it takes OUR earth to completely revolve around OUR star. and it made me wonder if we could use a universal ‘clock’ per say, that just made me realize that it isn’t the problem of us using OUR earth and OUR sun to measure time, its ‘time’ itself that’s the problem. so if there was something else that we could use to know what’s going on ‘right now’, then that might partially cure our problem. but then the answers just branch off into more questions, harder and harder to answer. sorry that this comment is so long haha and if you actually have read this far i respect you, thank you for listening to my rant, ~”that 10 year old girl” almost 3 years later

Speaking as somebody with aspergers people like me expect logical reaction. What we get, especially with children our age is that they're not logical. They experience peer pressure, something I never understood. Peer pressure is not a thing for me. If somebody tells me to do something and I don't want to I say no. They pressure me I tell them to fuck off. This is confusing and personally I tried to stay away from it. Teenagers especially are emotional wrecks. I wanted nothing to do with those kids. On the other hand I did go to a psychologist on occasion. We talked math, space-time, etc. Some life's question. Philosophy, etc. and I loved that. Everyone agrees that emotional teenagers are assholes on occasion. Why do you expect us to get along with them exactly?

I remember when I was little I was taught a different language (because my family is from a different country). My parents sent me off to a summer camp/preschool kind of thing, and they were worried because they thought the counselors there wouldn't be able to understand me because I didn't know English. Then when my parents came to pick me up they asked the counselors if they had a hard time understanding me because I didn't speak English. And counselors were confused because they said I was speaking perfect English, even better than every other 4 or 5 year old or there. My parents were confused too. I had somehow learned English just from hearing other people around me talk and listening to normal TV shows (not kid shows). And to this day I don't have a weird accent in any language. I speak English without an accent and my other language without an accent.

Eh... i did some mental health test for fun bc of quarantine and it says I’m likely to have Asperger’s syndrome and I took more tests abt it and it says I do too. So like I’m wondering, bc I can understand sarcasm which made me doubt a lot but apparently so does some other ppl like u ?- Uhmmm wat I mean like.. I’m quite antisocial. Since quarantine I found out that the r word is ableist and now I feel very shit bc (I never said it b4) but adults around me keep calling me the r word, like “stop acting r word” And not even adults, some classmates have called me that so now I feel very insecure and I’m thinking back of all the times I couldn’t read the situation properly 😃 And the fact I couldn’t learn my native tongue sucks too??? I’m chinese but I grew up in a multilingual country so I have to learn not only chinese but their national language and also English I learnt English from my mum bc she usually spoke English and my dad wasn’t home most of the time and also I learnt it from watching English shows and even after years of learning chinese.. I still can’t understand it. (Nor did I understand any other subjects b they were mostly in chinese, it was so bad my mum had to put me in an english-based school so I can graduate from primary) That’s y my siblings keek calling me the r word too lol. And even know, the main problem I have is socialising but They say I’m not disabled and I should be able to socialise and shvt and keep teasing me abt it and I don’t like that, and during quarantine they have called me it quite a few times now. More Han last time and I’m scared to tell them that it’s very ableist to do so... err Also I hope this doesn’t offend any ppl with Asperger’s syndrome or anyonE tbH, I’m genuinely confuse and distress and I hope I’m not mocking or making fun of y’all like that bc that’s not in any way my intention to do so

I can relate with just about everything in this video - especially the diction (vocabulary), but also the lonely social bashfulness and "nonliteral language". I was diagnosed with "Asperger's Syndrome" around 2001 about the age of six (now called "ASD"). I never allowed my Autism/Asperger's to have the prerogative to stop me or slow me down: Recently, at age 23, I royalty-published the book, “Juggling the Issues: Living with Asperger's Syndrome,” that’s being sold in multiple continents and sold out at various book distributors such as Barnes & Noble, and Walmart. I earned a degree in chemistry, juggle for elementary schools, am an Eagle Scout equivalent, and play piano for seniors on Sunday mornings, which are the “positive” aspects to ASD. I encourage children to never give up on their passions; if I can do it, so can you! I still face the “negative” challenges of ASD, and articulate that in my book as well...but I'm not letting that stop me either, as I endeavor to minimize them as much as possible. I'm not in competition with anybody, and I believe when all of us around the world work together, our ultimate goal will be met quicker, and this world will be a better place :)

I just recently discovered I had aspergers. My parents did everything they could to prevent me from being diagnosed with something but you can’t prevent the truth. I remember visits to the psychiatrist and how when I was about to give a “false” answer, my parents would butt in and make sure that I wouldn’t give an answer that would lead to a diagnosis. Emma Jackson it's is an autism spectrum disorder. It doesn't have to mean it's serious, it's a spectrum so tons of neurotypical people have a couple autistic ish quirks. PDDs are a subcategory of ASDs and all have the title of being disorders. Of course this is all just to be technically correct, and medically saying that you have aspergers is not correct, but fine outside the medical field.

Perfectly Explained! I couldn't put it in words well but this how i exactly felt throughout younger time. People like me who got this syndrome may notice how focused we are , our knowledge doesn't get out , we're highly logical & at times without even studying we sometimes know the answer. We're comfortable talking on topics like Science, economics & philosophy a lot & we expect others to be us all the time. We are little socially awkward at times & think differently especially critically. My parents knew I had Aspergers even before before my real diagnosis & they actually felt good about it because of how we use our brain & with time , even i felt good about it. Talking about social aspect of the syndrome yes it hinders your talk ability to a great extent at first but once you get hold of it well by trying to meet people , it lowers as well. As of now I still feel the social awkwardness but the extent has lowered. My friends on the other hand are quite supportive as well. My Say on people with Aspergers , yes we're different but in a good way. So appreciate the gift you got.

I was diagnosed with Aspergers this year, I’m 13 at the moment almost 14 and while talking to strangers my age is difficult I’ve managed to create a small friend group and even get a boyfriend who I’ve been with for 4 months now, I’m getting good grades in English and other topics due to my extended vocabulary so I really don’t see a lot of downsides to my disability. However, I was always worried that my disability would prevent me from finding love (along with my physical appearance, just ew) to the point where I thought no one would find me attractive which was proven wrong by my bf who surprising had a crush on me without my knowledge! To everyone with aspergers, while it may be difficult you are all capable of doing whatever you set out to do, it may be difficult but you have to have confidence in yourself. 💖

I’m 25 and i think i might have asperger. It feels like something is missing in my brain, like someone cut a chord connected to my brain. I can talk to people and understand sarcasm and human emotion but i can’t form deeper connections and relationships and i’m always alone and barely go out. I only do so when i have to buy something. I used to have 4-5 friends (before my teenage years) i could hang out with anytime of the week but got bullied in 4th and 6th grade. After that i kinda changed and became the ”quiet kid” in class. 6th grade we change schools in my country and it goes all the way to 9th grade so it was a new class but i new some of them from my old school and one of them was my friend. Anyway after this happened my mentor/teacher always said to my parents that i need to interact in class more (because they grade that too) that i’m too quiet...anyway this followed me all the way through higschool. 10th grade. New school, new class, new everything. At this point i only spent time with my neighbour who joined me in 7th grade (here things gradually got better) and two people i knew from my soccer team since i was 8. I had basically cut ties with old friends etc. We didn’t text or talk at all. Anyway i spent about 2 months in my new school before i made the decision that i wanted to change school and subjects so they hooked me up at some economics high school. I thought it would be good for me to meet strangers and expand my social network because i felt like i had too. Having 1-2 friends wasn’t gonna cut it anymore. Not in high school. The moment i joined my new school and class was mid term so all the others got a bit of a headstart to get to know each other and form groups and friends. Some of them were already friends from before. I got the chance to introduce myself and they all seemed friendly and all. I remember 2 guys and 2 girls really made efforts to get to know me and be my friend but i was cold and rejected them inderectly without even knowing it at the time. So i was alone until school closed in summer and we were about to begin 11th grade. I felt uncomfortable and changed school again with new subjects. This was more of a nature science school. Lots of math and physics. Basically the future engineers and doctors go to this school but this meant that i had to do 10th grade over again so i was 1 year older than the rest of my peers. But same thing happened here. And it was a nightmare for 3 years until graduation. I didn’t make a hard enough effort to connect so i was the outcast. In the beginning i sat with them at lunch but as they were talking i couldn’t say a word. I didn’t know what to say. I thought they would ask me something but they didn’t. This was 1-2 months in. After this i ate lunch mostly alone or sit 1-2 chairs away from random people. If reading this you know how bad it is so i’m skipping it to the last part. Graduation day...i had do drink shit loads of beer and champagne just to cope with my failure. I didn’t have great grades and the awkwardness being around my class mates celebrating even though i ghosted for 3 years made me sick so i had to drink just to cope. I had not a single friend to take a picture with or to talk to. Just my family. And here i am the exactly the same as i’ve been all those years but with improvements. Ofc i can talk to people whenever i go to the store, dentist, doctor etc. but sometimes after talking for 1-2 minutes my brain feel like the useless small talk is done and i can’t think of anything meaningful to talk about so there’s an awkward silence in the room and then they ask me if i’m ok. I hate this part the most. I don’t hate the person, just the question. I didn’t know at first why they’d do this but i searched it up and people can apparentely think that you’re annoyed or don’t like them and thus your silence makes them uncomfortable and this applies to extroverts especially but this ain’t that lol. So nowadays i always have anxiety before an appointment because i feel pressure to talk and entertain them. That’s not me and don’t think that’ll ever be me but i defintely still need to improve my social skills because i need a girlfriend...but no one wants to be around a guy who’s boring and don’t talk on their own. It’s not that i’m insecure about myself or anything but like i said it’s like something in my brain that’s holding me back. Ever since i was 19 i’ve thought i had asperger but i’ve never gone to a doctor to be tested. The ones i ever talk or text too are my dealer or acquaintances. I wouldn’t call them my friends. We used to hang out maybe once a month. Sometimes once every 2 months. They’d write to me or i to them too just asking what they’re up too. Sometimes i got invited to go out with them and their friends where we went to the club. But i cut all ties with them after reflecting and processing my thoughts. My dealer too. I’ve been using drugs recreationally for the past 3-4 years to escape my lame life and escape my reality. When using i could be who i always wanted to be or anyone. I’m usually on my PC. Used to be a hard gamer in high school, only thing i looked forward too was get out from school and go home to play counter strike. It stimulated my mind. But after graduation i was 19 and needed a job. I was still living at home at this time so i got a latenight job. Was a bitch to sleep at day though but i got money so i didn’t care. I quit the gaming since i neither had time or energy to play. It was work, come home, eat, sleep, wake up, eat, repeat. This shit drained me. I’m a big fan of hip hop/rap and u know how they promote drugs. So it was around this time lean or purple drank became so popular world wide. Teens started drinking that and so did i. It makes you kinda relaxed and u get a great fucking sleep. So this was my new stimulation. I drank in my room, watching TV, RU-vid or listening to music nodding. I became addicted before i knew it. Almost a year after i got my license it got so bad that i even drank before driving. I almost crashed my parents car on a bridge when picking up my sister from practice. I fell asleep for 2 second almost driving on the opposite lane. That’s when reality hit me and i got slapped by my mom and had to explain myself. That’s when they found out what i’d been up to. Stopped drinking lean and switched to alcohol. Now 20 years old. The age when u can buy booze in my country. What’s better than alcohol? It’s easy to access and it’s legal. I continued working at that nighshift place until i was 22. Sometimes i was slightly drunk at work but they wouldn’t notice because i had high tolerance and we work alone. Would usually have a couple of beers. Weekends it was the heavier stuff. 22 i quit my job and been up to no good since. 22 i started doing drugs. From weed, to ecstasy, to speed/adderall. Here in europe our adderall comes in a strong smelling powder. It’s phosphate, usually white or yellow. This is much stronger than adderall as pills. I used this up until today with no job or people to socialize with on the regular. It has been my friend and girlfriend. It was all i needed. I didn’t care about anything else. Getting high was all that mattered. I could go 2-3 weeks without using. Like i said it was recreational use. 2g-5g i binged in 2-3 days. But then i got phsycosis and drug induced schizofrenia. I saw people that weren’t there and heard voices in my head and songs over and over again. It was terrible. I needed something to slow me down so when i felt i was dond i used xanax or pregabalin 300mg. Sometimes i combined the two. 25 today and i feel like shit. Been a month since i used now. But i cut all my contacts. My face looks terrible. The speed gave me horrible breakouts. I got acne scars and hyperpigmentation all over my face. My sister though who is normal and younger than me, has a boyfriend and two jobs. She’s the opposite of me. An extrovert, lots of friends and previous boyfriends a life that i always wanted. My life is really sad compared to hers. She’s been to New York as an exchange student and Barcelona, Warzsawa and Croatia with friends. And Cyprus one week before graduation. I’ve been to Turkey and Las Palmas in Gran Canaria but that was just us. My family. Now she’s paying for chemical peels for over $150 to fix my ugly mug. Was there on Tuseday this week, going again next week. Results are great, the dead nasty skin is already peeling off. It’ll probably take a few more peels to get clear skin though. But i know she’s doing this because she feels pity and sorry for me. I’m still at home and on bad terms with my parents. We don’t really speak much because i’ve lied to them 100 times and been using behind their back while saying i’m clean...they’ve given me 100 chances. It’s a miracle they haven’t kicked me out yet but it’s bound to happen soon if i don’t change. I’m basically in my room24/7 on my laptop just spending time on RU-vid and Reddit where i can read similar situations to ease the pain. It feels a bit better that i’m not alone but it still sucks. I do think there’s something wrong with me, that i have asperger. But if i decide to go see a doctor it’d take months before i get a possible diagnosis because they need to hear my whole story, talk to my parents, possibly formers friends, teachers etc. It gives me a headache when i think about it. Too complicated but it would help my daily life if i’m diagnosed so people would understand me better and i finally accepting me as i am.

I have Asperger’s. I am a mom to a six-year-old. And he shows many of the signs of it. Just for my own experience being a kid in talking to people that actually know about it. Currently he’s being tested because I want him to have the best experience possible. His obsession right now is Minecraft, and sirens. He knows every flag from every country, every klaxon for emergency purposes in every country, and has learned to use commands in Minecraft. He reads on a fourth grade level, and adores music.. I think one of the best things about having aspergers as a moment myself is being able to understand where he’s coming from.

I have a mild form of ASD (mild Aspergers most likely). I would say I’m fairly intelligent although I do struggle relating to others and feel like an outsider. There are benefits although the social side really does suck. Hopefully there will be better treatment in the near future for the social side of stuff as I would like to be able to relate better to people. Oxytocin sounds promising but needs more research and investment.

Sorry to correct (can’t help myself lol), there is no “mild Asperger’s”. Asperger’s is a mild form of autism. Autism’s spectrum is based upon functionality, mainly social, but all individuals on the spectrum experience the same symptoms. Some can just mask really well and others can’t at all.

I have Asperger's Syndrome and many times people were impressed, saying that they don't know someone who knows more about Nintendo franchises, such as Mario, Zelda, Pokémon, Fire Emblem, Xenoblade Chronicles, than me. It began with me as a baby watching my older brother playing Super Mario 64. I don't have a hard time talking to others, but when I start talking about Nintendo games, it's hard for me to stop, not realising that the person I'm talking to is getting tired.

I'm still amazed at what he knows. He was breaking down N. Korea's political system..I was like, where did you learn that from? I didn't even know some of that stuff. This is true about the social aspect. He doesn't have any friends at school and that's hard to see...even though we'll run into kids out and about and they seem to love him. He's just unaware of it I guess. It's funny, though. The science teacher last week said Luke corrected her three times, not in a know it all way....he's just black/white and can't let an error go by.

If I had to describe Asperger's in one Sentence would be, "An Aspie is somebody who gets overstimulated, so focusing on a few things is more comforting then focusing on many things" This can be anything from friends, to food, to hobbies or interests. Making 20 different meals may overwhelm an aspie, with all the different ingredients, But making a few favorite meals everyday may be more comfortable. Or having 20 friends may seem confusing, when having a few close friends seems more comforting.

This is so me; I always enjoyed being around adults & would run from little kids & be confused by my peers; though I managed to get along well enough in school; because learning was my safe space! I only ate lunch with one girl who refused to let me eat alone (thank goodness). I was called a snob a lot & a brown nosed to teachers; so I felt disconnected from most students except for the nerds (not that I understood them well) & I realized my relationships were superficial later in life. I was also hard being pretty; because many girl disliked me & boys were very attentive & I wasn’t sure why. In my family; I was the plain Jane! Luckily; I understood some jokes & some sarcasm; but, most went over my head & I tended to take things literal. I learned to be suspicious of people’s motives as they took my kindness for weakness. It’s was a sad relief to find out in my mid to late 50s that I could have a form of ASD; which was confirmed when I insisted on being assessed & my RITVO score was high on the 0-240 scale! It’s sad that in my 60s I just learned I wasn’t crazy! And my mother learned I wasn’t looking for attention or playing dumb and her anger toward me seems to have finally waned. Though I’m still confused over why so many people get mad at me; I realize I’ve probably not understood something. I really detest reading in between the lines; because I normally can’t & people hated giving things to me straight! At least now I can say I’ve got ASD & ever show my report if necessary! It means a lot to know; but I only got the official word in June of this year 5 years after finding out it was even a possibility! I only wish there were RITVO clubs! Maybe that can come next as ASD & Asperger’s are finally being talked about! Thank you so much for this video! I know we all don’t have the same issues; but there are enough similarities; that I finally feel like I belong somewhere! Maybe I can figure out how to start a club! 😊😊😊😊😊😊😊😊😊

Our adult son has Aspberger’s and the logical thinking is so true. He can be brutally honest at times. One time I had gotten my teeth cleaned and I said, don’t my teeth look nice? His response was, they’re kinda yellow. It was a quiet ride home. I asked him once if he thought I was a good mom. He said I could have done better. Lol I don’t take it personally because he’s just being honest.

Is it Aspergers or are these children so intelligent that the adults are labelling them as having a disorder... everyone is different and who says what is “normal” social behaviour who decides this any way 🤷🏽‍♀️
@thebobbyboy2649
@thebobbyboy2649 5 лет назад
dede mac As an adult with Aspergers, it’s way more than that. People like me have distinct problems regarding socialization, focus, and sensory issues. Neurotypical people seldom experience what we experience. Just because everyone’s different, doesn’t mean we don’t have a disorder.

A Majestic Peach In a way, yes. Many autistic people learn how to cope with society over time.

TheBobbyBoy ok. I asked this because I was diagnosed with severe autism because I couldn’t speak and I had a lack of motor skills when I was young. Basically it was because I never learned how to speak from my parents. But now they change my IEP from learning disability to autism and the lady said I’m a high functioning autistic person.

It's actually Asperger's syndrome, not Asperger's disorder... But being considered a form of autism and on the spectrum, I think it is oft misunderstood as being a disorder... After years of feeling lost and out of place, I may finally have an answer...

Hmmm now this syndrome makes sense. Honestly, I just found out that it was a thing by watching a video about a young man with this syndrome and how he is considered "undateable" (I think that's how you spell that... anyways) I've watched a few more videos to try to understand what it is and internally I am laughing and I dont mean to offend but like this seems normal behavior to me. I dont see a down side to this maybe I just need to learn more about it. Thanks for giving me a picture of what I couldn't understand.

i'm not self diagnosing here, but i've been told by my autistic friend that i should get checked. i have several fidgets which include bouncing repeatedly in a chair when i'm tense, i have a habit of biting my tongue when i'm nervous, picking my lip. i've had several obsessive interests in my life, which include, but are not limited to: satellite dishes, fluorescent lights, and air vents on top of houses. i would stand in a room for several minutes at a time to listen to the sounds of the lights and i would extensively research everything i was interested in. i've also had episodes of what i can only describe as being totally overwhelmed, which included my throwing everything out of my room. and throwing objects without even thinking about doing it. i'm not the best at socializing and i usually have to think VERY hard about what to say. i tend to stutter and not make eye contact, when i talk to people i tend to fidget because i get overwhelmed. i'm hoping someone with aspergers here can give me some insight. i want to know if i should seek treatment because my parents brush off that i'm autistic and refuse to have me seen by a doctor.

This honestly pisses me off that your parents are irresponsible and are not taking this seriously. Not sure how old you are but try and move out of their asap and become independent. Then start going for therapy. But for now just try to get as much information on this as you can. Aspergers is not some permanent disease. You will just have to learn and teach yourself socializing and any other struggle areas. Besides that, aspergers is a gift in many ways. If you can be that interested and detail oriented in random things like that, imagine what you can do in some big industries by applying the same interest and attention. You will go far in life

My Mum had four kids and she told me that I was different from the other three. Very young I would hardly talk, but when I did, adults would be astounded because I was using adult words. I also developed child epilepsy, something I later found was not uncommon is Asperger children. I also had moments when I would almost freeze and seem impervious to my surroundings. That freaked out my parents and I was taken to doctors, but Aspergers was not well known then. I had issues of anxiety and sucked my thumb and did so as secretly as I could well into my teens. I have weird sensations rubbing things in my fingers. Later in my teens I had problems when meeting other boys with long hair. I suffered attacks of paralysis waking up in the morning, caused by anxiety in my surroundings and I had to switch my life and leave my job. I could go on, but I had developed some areas of expertise that seems particular to me. I have friends who are scientists that I would otherwise not. Do I have Asperger's? What do _YOU_ think? I have not even told a quarter of my story. Social awkwardness is something I have learned to deal with. Is it a curse? Maybe not, because without it I may not have done the things I have done - they identify who I am, _it is me._ I am often the one person in the room pointing at something everybody else has missed and can't figure it out why they didn't see it. How do I point it out to them? Will they believe me? Sometimes I _do_ point it out and so often I get that look. I have seen that look many times - and it has also made me connections. I ask others of my friends, do they experience this? No, they know I am bit odd anyway. Always have been.

I think I have it too or at least in my teenage years... I remember people thought of me a bit of a genius when I was a kid,creating my own world, could read at the age of 4,learned world capitals at 8, painting at a different level than other kids then,like being alone and shy most of the high school years... Learned easily different names in any areas especially in geography. I know Earth globe by heart and once I wrote 767 towns and cities from California in one hour. Do you think is this Aspergers? I am 37 years now and it is difficult to maintain a relationship with a woman for a long period because I am thinking too much and want a perfect relationship, still waiting for the one and someone in my life to talk about anything at a different level, not many people understand how I am and like being with myself more than among people. I am a very creative person and learn easily almost anything and don't like other teach me, here where I live it seems that everyone is the same and I am too special and different than others. I don't know what to think but usually I am a normal person and talk easily with anyone but I mean in my last years was like that. What do you think?

ive been trying to find out whats wrong with me for years and i have researched aspergers in the past a few times but i never really saw myself having it only because i never considered myself bad at socializing because i can be good at it but i feel like im too self aware and i never know what to say in the moment and its hard for me to connect to peers because i cant relate to them. even though i could have a conversation with them its hard to actually become friends because i cant connect to them, but it can also be hard to connect to other autistic ppl for not being as high on the spectrum. Im also currently in a depressed state and its already hard for me to get energy to do anything at all i have very few people that i can be socially comfortable around and i feel so lonely. everyone around me has always thought i was weird and i have lost friends from embarrassment of being around me because i would do stupid impulsive shit for validation and to get ppl to laugh because that was like my way of socializing because it would get people to wanna talk to me and actually like me snd think im funny

I came looking here since my 3 year old son is being evaluated right now. My best friend since childhood also has ASD. I find it heartbreaking that a few differences in how you experience and interact with the world causes so much pain. I also think too much preassure is put on people who are different to adjust. Instead of training people with asd to hug and give eye contact, or giving kids with adhd medicine to sit through long school days. Maybe the rest of us could practice being more accepting of how people are different. One could say it's unreasonably rigid to not be able to adjust to someone speaking with a different tone or being distracted by someone fidgeting while talking.
