Hey man the track saw is fine don’t worry about it because like you had on the table saw it’s the grain pattern binding on the blade and the grain must have pinched the blade so that caused the kick back. Anyway nice job.

Thanks man! You might be right! I’ll have to put more time in on it to be sure but I appreciate the outside perspective! Thanks for watching and taking time to comment! I appreciate it!

I've been meaning to repair and refinish an old cutting board I made more than 20 years ago and was thinking about the exact combo of products you used. Seeing the results and hearing your recommendation, I'll definitely use the combo now. Thanks again for sharing your experience with the build!

Of course! Glad the video was helpful! It’s really a winning combination. Out of the oil finishes, tung seems to be one of the best for this type of application. A lot of people use mineral oil but it never dries so it ends up (in small amounts mind you) in your food etc. thanks for watching and taking time to share your thoughts! Always appreciated!

Great video. I’ve had kickback twice on my festool track saw, Which led to the track being ruined. Unfortunately these things can happen sometimes. Don’t worry about replacing your saw. It’s all good.

Thank you! And thanks for the point of reference on the festool, it’s been on my mind haha. I’ll run this one for a while and see if I have more issues. Gotta be extra cautious on the plunge cuts I guess.

Nice video. That wood grain is awesome. They are French curves. Automotive designers, and other designers as well, used to use them when designing on the board with pencil and paper

Fantastic video in a million ways. I don't like the kreg track saw. Also a thin kerf blade with the right tooth count will go a long way. Keep it up.

Thanks! The track saw has been great for processing plywood but on this occasion it didn’t perform. I appreciate you watching and taking time to comment man! Cheers!

Great looking board. I enjoyed you showing the creativity required. Regarding the kick back. I can only see 2 dimensional and what’s on camera but I think two things based on what I can see. 1) The angle at which you were pushing the saw through likely put uneven pressure and that is what caused the saw to catch. 2) and to a much less degree, some side by sides I have seen show the Kreg saw requiring a slower cut because of power on some hardwood. No idea if that contributed here but who knows. Everything I have read about the Kreg saw is that it is a good one so not sure that would not have happened no matter the power or brand.

Thanks Bill! You might be right. It could be circumstantial with the wood hardness and also user error. I’m fully willing to accept some blame for that. I guess I’ll just have to get back on that horse and see if it bucks again haha. Thanks for watching and sharing your perspective.

That piece had some decent figure in it and is nice looking. Personally i feel its way to thick for the purpose. Women gravitate to these serving boards and weight can be an issue. Thinking i would have resawn that and doubled the boards made.
@WoodNerds
@WoodNerds 27 дней назад
You’re not wrong. I would have resawn it if I owned a band saw haha. I considered running it through the planer but the wild grain directions might have ended in a mess.

Sisoo, those bastards are a pain when you remove them... send runners out and new seedlings pop up everywhere. Builder here in Gilbert loved putting them into the development 20 years ago cause they grow fast but they also cause sprinkler and paver issues since roots are shallow. Apparently popular in river beds in India

Great insight! I’m pretty sure there is one in my neighbors yard that has wreaked havoc on my irrigation system. I have to replace entire sections at a time and find roots rubbing against them for yards. Hope you’re enjoying the nice weather today!

Hey, that kickback would have happened to any great track saw. Next time try to take the cut in small cuts, as you see you almost had the same problem on the table saw. All and all very nice boards.
@WoodNerds
@WoodNerds 7 месяцев назад
You could be right! I should have added that user error and circumstance could also have been the culprit. I am definitely not perfect so putting all the blame on the tool is unfair, especially in a one off situation. Thanks for calling me on that. I’m super happy with the outcome, thanks for watching!

@WoodNerds
@WoodNerds 7 месяцев назад
Thanks man! Haha my buddy said the same thing. It’s a challenge finding music that isn’t total trash for videos. I pay for a service to license music and the only music available is okay at best. I appreciate the feedback though! Was it the b-roll music “I don’t see you fighting” that was the offender?
@marks.2814

I just prefer without the music, i realize everyone is different, yes the "B roll" , blasts your ear piece listeners. Like i said enjoyed the build part of the video. Thanks @WoodNerds

great work. fun to watch. where do you get your lumber -- do you order online or do you have a local place? just curious. we have a place here in Anaheim, CA that sources local trees from LA and Orange counties. I also got a small slab of Indian Rosewood there and made a simpler charcuterie board as well as a couple shelves. rock on and on!
@WoodNerds
@WoodNerds 7 месяцев назад
Hey! Thank you! I appreciate that! There is a lumberyard I usually visit for materials but this slab I picked up from woodworkers source in Phoenix, AZ. They are usually overpriced so I don’t typically shop there but just happened to stop by and couldn’t pass this one up. That’s awesome! How’d they come out? I’m really happy with mine. I have some scraps sitting around I might use for a mallet when I have some time in the future.
