You should add the hvac.Make it right. It will only help you in the end. You already know the benefits. Can't wait to see how much this improved your work. Congratulations on kicking ass.
just make sure to get a camera pointed at the booth and make sure toothless tanya and her methhead madmen don't try to come in the middle of the night and vandalize it. SERIOUSLY though that is the next step for people like this.
Either they are all bark and no bite, or their stupid enough to cross state lines and do grand theft or felony damage to property. Or would they pay someone to do it? Anyway they would be suspect Numero Uno.
Greetings from North Pole, Alaska, and while your paint booth is being put together, HVAC down the side and around to the back is probably the right idea. Best to do it now as opposed to figuring out how to do it 6 months from now. And just to let you know, I've been subscribed to your channel for over a year and in the past 6 months, this is my first notification from RU-vid.
Amazing work as always. I think waiting a bit more for the paint job is worth it and it will make it look a lot cleaner that way. Go for the second option !!!
I posted a comment regarding the great things y'all are doing enthusiastically for the retired veteran. 👍👍👍 The DIYGANG and 23rd Garage are the two of my favorite vehicle projects channels.
Vtuned puts out some good work videos too. He's a brother to 23rd garage. You probably already know that but just in case. Puddin's Fab Shop is another awesome channel if you're into cars being built.
Balancing the air flow is going to be the hardest part, especially since you are modifying from its designed air flow. Probably will need some diffusers and for sure use radius elbows, or duct with turning vanes in them.
hi. i’m a lighting engineer. often paint booths are equipped with staggered or adjustable color temperatures and VERY high CRI fixtures. the contrast of warm/white color temps is adjusted depending on different colors of paint and the way the color or surface is perceived.
Gaaaaaahhhh dang son it's hard to believe the community we have now I been down and out a bit but you was a few thousand and now your Hella up there I'm so proud of what you have built brother congratulations
Glad to hear the old school music on the channel from when you were building Phoenix. Love that song! Happy to see you progressing out in FL. Keep doing big things bro!
Build the booth the way you ultimately want it now if you can. It will be much easier to do it now than to stop all project progress later just to upgrade the booth.
Just curious if you have any plans for protecting your booth during hurricane season? That wide open side could be a big problem with 100 plus mph winds. Might want to consider siding with reinforcements
Jose as someone who has done HVACR for 30yrs. My suggestion 110% is to run the duct below the lights. Keep in mind at each ven thw increase in duct. It will get wider to the building from the booth as it goes back. So you will totally loose that space. I would run the duct down low still. Stay safe and be well. God bless.
Not sure of lean to height, width and max clearance from top of booth to the trusses. Adding a roll up door at entrance to paint booth will add a barrier to rain etc. Just a thought but cost is a factor...
Hope you took time to get those plans your acquaintance provided, submitted to your local county building and permitting division, and properly permit approved...for Florida's hurricane codes.
What will give you 1: better painting experience, and 2: make it a easier work environment? It is better to put more work into a better paint booth than have paint booth sooner that you will regret not making those changes when you were building it.
I would say tie it to the back, however make sure you step down the trunk size so you get a balanced suction down the entire wall. Big, smaller, then smaller from back to font is what I am meaning.
Pretty sweet upgrade for you guys! Personally, I'd stick with the booth how it is, and just be aware on how you're spraying to keep working towards the exhaust to keep that wet edge.
Love your video, been watching from beginning here in Ct, only issue is seems lately you mic or sound has been way off, have to turn mine up a lot. LOL< its all the driver responsibility to secure loads, LOL
Leave the lights in the walls where they are and stick the extraction ducting underneath the wall lighting then you got the best of both worlds lighting where it's needed and the best extraction position and you won't have to send lights back like you were saying.
You are so ambitious. I wish I was your age again, and had your energy. Looks great, I really don’t know how much different your booth would be the other way. I would say go with what you have, but I have never painted a car. Upgrading now might be better. Especially if what you really want is the upgrade.
Please upload more frequent videos like u did back in the day. we all are tired of waiting once a month us old school og subscribers know the feeling and pain of waiting for u guys to drop a video a week we understand and are greatful and haply for ur big move to florida. But please 🙏 it cant hurt to ask but still love ur content. DIY Gang ❤
Good news with that. They didn't have a leg to stand on anyway, so they must have woken up to themselves. Now you can relax and keep doing what you do.
There is a saying, buy once cry once, believe me from experience if you do not throw in the extra money and time to make it just the way you want it to be you will regret it every time you use it, you will feel like you settled just to get it done fast.
I like the idea leave the lights alone, Cut the side draft into the panels below the lights. Only thing is would the ducting or boxes be a standard size or would they have to be fabricated for the job? Does smaller mean a better pull of the air or would that be the size of fans at the back end your tying into? That or add an extra exhaust fan in the trunk before going into the bigger exhaust area at the end for max air pull. Im sure you already looked into the size and air flow you need, weather you system can handle that.
I don't have a fancy paint booth, but does it take care of the humidity? I know it can get bad here in PA like today and is bad for painting, seems like that would be all the time in FL.
If u flipped the door upside down it would swing to the right so you don't have to go around it every time. That would be way more ergonomically correct. Especially since most people are right handed and that position will force the right hand to grab the handle.
Just for future information. Never trust someone who can drop their price by 3k like that.. an honest contractor will give you his lowest price from the beginning. If you ask if they can go any lower, they will tell you that is as low as they can go without removing labor.
Those assholes are lucky they got a dime out of it seeing the operation it takes to disassemble, move, then update to modern tech. I feel like they were both trying to scam you.
Have you considered one (or 2) of those Pioneer split units? You could see if you can reach out to Adam Booth (Abom79, lives I think in Ft Lauderdale). Get some idea of how they really perform.
Me personally, I’d leave it the way it is. But I’d also never rebuild a burned car. So I’m not qualified to give advice on this topic. I’ll just keeping watching and see what you come up with.
