I play the same way. Not as good obviously, but he plays left handed with the strings strung right handed. That was the way I learned. We had an old acoustic, and I just leard it backwards like him, Albert King, Dick Dale, Coco Montoya. Eric Gales. Low E string on the bottom. Jimmy just played a right handed strat, but it was strung in the traditional way with the low E on top. It's a common misconception he played like the others mentioned, but he played with the normal setup. it was just his guitar was upsidedown. I have seen many lefties play a guitar upsidedown, but strung the correct way, but who is to say what is correct. I have played this way 39 years. You play your scales from bottom to top, and chord a different way , and you can bend for days. You will see a lot of bass player play this way. I started on bass once I got my first electric then went to guitar. I thought I'll never be any good until I discovered Albert King then Doyle came along, and it was the push I needed to just play what I felt. I don't really do any covers. Mostly blues, and some metal. Like the great Eddie Van halen said. " I didn't have a rule book so I didn't know any better. If there is no rule book you just play". That is what I do. I tried teachers, but they gave up because they didn't know how to approach teaching me so I taught myself.
