Doyle approach to this song is something really refreshing. His touch, his wah wah expression (the flare) some how reminds me of the legend Jimi Hendrix. Great stuff!!!
was stage left for this... and the week before at the Gibson Jam in Nashville.. That wah pedal was given to him by Jimmy Murray of Greensboro when Doyle played a show at Triad stage about a month before... At the Gibson Jam, Doyle invited Audley Freed up to jame Now there was some skull cuttin' that night... players...
First saw Doyle on this cross roads tour, been a fan ever since. mentioned to a friend at work and he said yeah good drummer, I said drummer, no guitar when I found out Doyle Sr played a good set of drums RIP
I've actually been trying to figure out whose in this rhythm section. The drummers to me, look like the ones from the current Tedeschi Trucks band lineup. Any thoughts?
Thanks! yeah I found his name after doing a bit of research. But do you know who the second drummer is in this clip? Doesn't look like the same guy in TTB, but still hell of a drum duo
Cymbals pock marked all to "rat shit" ass kicking group and bass and drums make it all fit. Played bass for over 40 years and would love to jam on the crossroads High 5 to Doyle to great tune with fantastic back in time wah wah
First saw him w/ Roger Waters in '99 & 2000 and went and got his 'Smokestack' release...OUTSTANDING!...as is all of his stuff. Guitar, Bass & 2 Drummers...now THAT'S Rock & Roll!!
AWESOME!!! AWESOME!!! AWESOME!!! Does that mean he'll be touring again???? DAMN hope so!!! Been TOO long since he's done anything. I've Always wanted JJ's seat in this band...so doyle if you're watching...!!! I JUST as good...dep?
Doyle is a guitar god. does anyone know anything about this song? is it a Doyle original, is it a cover? i can't seem to track down any info on it. thx!
Love the song, can't find it anywhere that would allow me to download it to my ipod. I own the crossroads dvd that has this on it. anybody out there that knows how to find this?
great song and feeling, however it sounds like something from Peter Gabriel solo albums... could you help me to find the song? I mean the part that JJ Johson and the bass player sing toghetter. .
Wow.. I wish I had found Doyle back then. You can tell he has now let his inner 'hippie child' out in his appearance.. and you can tell Clapton has picked out who to be his heir apparent..
When Doyle was in the Arc Angel's with Charlie Sexton they played a 3 nite gig in Houston Tx. My friend and I went all 3 nights. Lost track of him until recently.
Doyle is awesome & Seriously Underrated! - this is one of my favorites, but it irks me to watch it, he needs no confirmation from Clapton. Just my opinion
The woman next to Clapton looks an awful lot like his first daugther (I think her name is Ruth, but I could be horribly wrong). Takes 'seeing some music with your dad' to a whole other level...
If guitar playing wasn't hard enough, along with his guitar being backwards, his strings are also in reverse as well, making everything he plays totally backwards and upside down.
Artie RT Hendrix didn't play with his strings in reverse order, just the guitar. If you look at Doyle's strings you'll see he has them upside down as well.
Chavee49 @ Chav4ee49 according to Doyle, Albert played that way for the same reason Doyle did.. Neither had a guitar so they learned on someone elses which was a right handed guitar. In Doyle's case Jimmy and Stevie Ray Vaughn as Doyle's father was their drummer in the day. Doyle said he used to go by the stage when he was about 14 and just wait to get Albert's attention, and for a long time Albert just ignored him, but of when he did get his chance he was welcome just about anytime..... good story straight from Doyle...
Yes. Lovers: Eric and Sheryl Crow were together in the mid 1990s and she wrote her 1998 hit 'My Favorite Mistake' about the rocker. Sheryl has been with several, including 'Lie Strong.' Many Musicians make terrible lovers, husbands and fathers. Doyle seems headed that way.
