Yes! Exactly. That's why Pac was the greatest. He rapped about everything that was wrong with this world. That's why his music is even more relevant today.
Not always. Sometimes he spoke about the plight of black people and how they should change. Sometimes he spoke about fucking someone's wife, called women bitches and about killing black people. 2 Pac said he wasn't a role model. He was an actor playing a part.
An artist comes in many forms. Painters, sculpter, performer, musician, magician, speakers, songwriters, builders, movie directors, photographers, etc.... just because they are good at what they do.....dont mean they aren't flawed in thoughts, deads and knowledge and situational awareness. Everybody is human and ignorant in many areas ......all leaders and pushers of justice of any kind aren't artists, nor should they be. The greatest flaw in society today is the belief that you have to be famous to be a great leader of people. Everyone with a plateform shouldn't be heard or given the privilege of leading change. That privileged isn't automatically given out or exclusive to a certain group of people
UR A HUMAN FIRST UNFORTUNATELY OUR BLK HUMANITY COMES WITH A STRUGGLE SO IF UR from WHERE IM FROM I EXPECT THE ARTISTS VIEW OF THAT TO BE EXPRESSED and ADDRESSED CONSCIOUSLY 🤷🏾♂️
An artist, if he is truly an artist, is only interested in one thing and that is to wake up the minds of men, to have mankind and womankind realize that there is something greater than what we see on the surface. - Marvin Gaye
Which doesn't require talking about social issues. The art should already be doing that. And when folks don't understand that, you end up with soapboxes masquerading as art, like modern Star Wars.
Artists, if anything, have a duty to themselves to express themselves through whatever art they are good at. Whatever it is they have to say, we can’t tell them what to create or not
