I am a black American and I approve of Charlamange's message. Something I have been seeing and saying for years. If I had another choice I would not vote for Biden but he is better than the alternative. We need to prepare our children , we also need to demand that our tax dollars go toward teaching our American children Spanish beginning 3rd grade because ESL is being taught in schools and after school in libraries and there's not one black child in the class. Bilingual salaries are much higher.

As a life long Chicagoan, this offended me. Guys like Charlamange and Bill Mahr, need to stick to entertainment. They are NOT journalists nor political experts and it’s infuriating that these guys continue to get a platform to speak on politics just because they are famous. I mean, what is he really talking about here?? The only good point he makes is about listening to folks who are in it. I am well aware of the friend he Is referring to as these meeting have gone viral in Chicago, but she and the folks who agree with her are using these asylum seekers as political pawns. Does she have a point?? Hell yes she does, but what she is not understanding is that we weren’t aware of them coming which meant we were unprepared every time a bus arrived. What choice did the Mayor have but to divert as many resources as possible (which wasn’t close to enough) and make sure these migrants didn’t just get dumped into neighborhoods desperate and homeless, which could have caused crime and chaos. Instead, we did what we could to get these folks on their feet as quickly as possible. It has been amazing to see a lot of them thrive. It has been interesting to see, while many American homeless folks just ask for money at intersections, these migrants are selling water and snacks for money. I’ve been directly and indirectly involved in politics for 30 years here in Chicago and I have never seen us so polarized. We are a minority majority city and have always shown compassion to those in need but people like Charlmalange’s friend are trying to make a point by not allowing already impoverished neighborhoods to give up their resources, such as a park field house, to house migrants. I 100% understand the sentiment, but I feel they are taking their frustrations of many years of inadequate funding, out on the migrants. They had these folks in tents in the dead of winter. It is really sad to see my city split on this situation when it should be obvious. I love you guys, but he shouldn’t be making political statements based on what he is hearing from one side, without any context or someone there from the other viewpoint, who actually has knowledge of the history of this matter, to challenge what he is stating.
