the sonics fans fought just as hard as the Kings fans. The difference came in the mayoral office. Sacramento has Kevin Johnson, a former NBA'er beloved by David Stern (plus he fought his ass off to keep the Kings). Seattle's mayor accepted a buyout to let the Sonics go. Coincidentally, I lived in Seattle during their debacle and i lived in sacramento durring theirs --- I can say tht seattle did fight for the team, amazing franchise, great fanbase -- but I gotta be honest -- it was nothing like what they did in sacramento. Not even close. Every radio station, every media outlet, eveyry car dealership, school, business, was ALL in, because unlike Seattle, the Kings are all we have there. However, Tom is right, It still wouldnt have matterred if we didnt have Kevin Johnson -- they need to make a golden statue of him riding on top of a Unicorn. What he did was unprecidented and solidified his legacy in the city of sacramento forever.

It also should be noted that the Sonics are/were considered Washington's team, while the Kings had a small part of California (northern Cal of course). I would contend the Sonics loss is horribly damaging to fans outside Seattle, but in Washington (like Walla Walla, Spokane, Yakima) who lost their team and literally had zero say. The Seattle government can take a large share of the blame

If you study the history of the game the Kings franchise started in Rochester, New York; as the Rochester Royals then moved to Cincinnati, then to Kansas City where they changed their name to the Kings because of baseball's Kansas City Royals then moved to Sacramento where they have been since. Of all that time the best teams they had were probably with Webber. Although they had some good teams with Oscar in the 60's and with Tiny in the 70's.

shaq was one of the main reasons (with his investments) that kept the kings alive...and impo i have noticed how close shaq and webber seem through watching TNT so i think that c webb had a big influence in getting shaq to invest

Sac town is only filling there arena 75% full this year,last time they were selling out regularly was 2007.It may be too late to keep the Kings in town but we need to support them by going to the games.

i agree with u 1000%, both Seattle and Vancouver should both be in the West and the Memphis Grizzlies should move to the East. Not only does the Grizzlies playing style perfectly match the Eastern conference but it also fits geographically with Memphis east of the Mississippi river

i think its crazy that california has 4 teams, 2 in the same city...texas has 3 teams... why doesnt each state have just one team?...i realize the size of these 2 states is why...but we are alienating parts of te country that have no team...seattle for one.. st louis.. im sure las vegas would do well with a team... kentucky wich is known for basketball doesnt have a team... it just doesnt make sense to me

Los Angeles is a very large market. Cities like New York, Los Angeles, and Chicago have large markets that hosts two teams in a same league.

Two best solutions: 1. Move the Clippers to Seattle 2. Seattle becomes an expansion team along with a, Eastern city(maybe St.Louis, Buffalo, Montreal, Louisville, a team in Virginia, etc)

I'm from Sacramento and I can say honestly that I, along with many here, have no idea what Chris Webber is doing to keep the team here, and based on C-Webb's complete disconnect from accurate information regarding the situation here, I tend not to believe him when he says he's doing everything he can to preserve NBA basketball in this town.

@chtbjunkie62 I don't know if you've ever been to Key Arena, but, there's absolutely nothing wrong with it for basketball. It opened only 4 years prior to the building in Oakland in 1962 and re-opened after major renovation in '95. 1995 wasn't THAT long ago. Oracle Arena re-opened 2 years later, yet Key Arena is supposedly not "state-of-the-art"? Exactly how "state-of-the-art" is MSG then? It's being renovated this summer for the 2nd time since '68. Why was Seattle not given the same chance?

@chtbjunkie62 I'm well aware of the feelings of taxpayers regarding public funding of sports & entertainment venues. That is a completely separate issue from what I'm getting at. My point was Seattle & Sacramento had the threat of "get a new arena or else" hung over their heads by the league, yet, that's not happened in New York. MSG --- in its' current location --- has been in operation since 1968. How does that not qualify as "old" or "out of date" in David Stern's NBA?

We are happy w/ our Lakers. Anaheim doesn't need a franchise. If they do, just relocate the Clippers to Anaheim, that's pretty much their whole fan base. Kings relocating, I don't see how they can compete w/ the Lakers and Clippers. Keep them in Sacramento.

We got 30 teams now. The NBA should do what the NFL did by adding 2 more teams to make it 32. One for each conference, Seattle in the west and maybe Pittsburgh in the east

since the nba says that the only reason that seattle left was because of the arena (even though it's all bennet and sterns fault). but now that seattle has a legit chance to get an nba team and a stadium why cant we play at key arena i mean it might be worse than arco but at least we have a plan and a good owener who is willing to spend. so hopefully bennet does a good thing and lets us ball at the key until the new arena comes. I'm not a Seattle fan (Bulls all the way), but if you watched the documentary and read some news on this whole debacle, you would know the Sonics fans cared about the move from the beginning, even when in the first OKC season 2008/2009 when they weren't that great. Honestly, I don't think Seattle fans want to take over the Kings. To my knowledge, the city and its fans were royally screwed by a number of people, including its city council.

@BruinVideos We don't want to steal a team, and in fact all the former Sonic fans I know including myself don't want teams with great fans like the Kings to move. However, if the situation comes that there is some team out there that has no possibility of being able to sustain in the city in which it exists, then the team might as well come our way. The NBA is not going to be expanding anytime soon, and this is the only way that we can bring a team back to Seattle.

LOL. The owners 'tried' to make the team successful in Seattle. That's such bs. Bennett had no intention whatsoever in staying in Seattle, considering his whole business was in OK. The only credit Seattle fans want (from what I've read and heard) is for people to realize Sam Presti and the Sonics organization drafted these great players and history with OKC should not be shared, nor should the banners be in OKC.

I'm From LA, We don't want/need another team, I'm a Clippers fan say what you want, I've loved them since I was 9. But the "Royals" are moving into an area where you have two teams who both are far better teams/more exciting games than the kings. It is easily the worst move in sporting history, (and I think I may actually mean that)

You said you watched the documentary, clearly you missed the point of the documentary. Its purpose is to show how Seattle got screwed by the city, H. Schultz and C. Bennett, not by its fans or OKC fans. Fans essentially had no say in this. Again, Bennett had no intention of staying in Seattle, none. The documentary clearly shows that and it shouldn't be a surprise, he wanted a team for himself in his home town.
