Durant got upset, because he felt he wasn't getting the credit that he deserved, because it was Steph's team. So, he went to lead his own and found out how much leadership responsibility can wear on you and affect your performance. He wanted Kyrie and Harden, and got swept for his troubles.

Dream or Clyde don’t show up in the playoffs or aren’t playing to their potential, Houston doesn’t win any of those championships.
