My grandfather left 3 children and my grandmother in 1943 to serve in the South Pacific. That type of ethic and dedication is rare. Very proud to be his grandson
I always thought this song was about coal mining and how he didn't know if he was going to die from going into the mines. I love how Charles keeps country music simple and to it's old roots.
The perfectly done music video for one of the world's greatest songs! So much passion and heart put into everything here. Tugs at the heartstrings. You've outdone yourself, Charles! I'm thrilled you're getting your well deserved recognition, these music videos are too good! Though you're due much more notice!!
Our Country is in distress at this moment… Imagine, for one moment what it was like back then… EVERYONE TOGETHER AND FIGHTING FOR THIS GROUND..All banded together as one.. 🇺🇸🇺🇸🇺🇸🇺🇸🇺🇸🇺🇸
I'm not from US, is this what you guys call country music? Cause I'm gonna need you Americans to recommend me more songs from country or whatever the genre this music is
I would suggest listening to some Red Dirt Country radio stations. I listen to KAGE 96.7 on my phone with an app. Not every song is like Charles Westly Godwin, but there will be quite a few. I think most people would say it's a blend of alternative/roots/americana/country/folk
Such a great video. Only small issue is that he was listening to the radio in 41 when war was declared but the scenes of him in France would have been 44. The baby shouldn't have been a baby anymore.
You know what would be a good plot twist and heart string yanker. If she opened the door and it was another person breaking her the news that her husband died.
Not really sure what Propanganda there is to see. Many men from West Virginia (where Charles is from) went off to fight in Europe in WW2. My great uncle served in Europe through France and Belgium and my Great Aunts first husband was killed at Anzio Italy, both from the same area of West Virginia.
