Raven was in love with Charles and desperately sought his attention and affection. He had her on a silver plate and she could take any shape or form for him if he wanted. Yet he was so blind to it and rather went to pick up random girls at bar instead. Charles you dummy. Although it's weird how she then proceeds to date not only Hank but also Erik at the same time.. or atleast attempt to sleep with them both. It's obvious how vulnerable and insecure she really is that ever inch of affection for her true self immidiately turns it into a date.

That's kind of the point of X-Men as a general franchise, is showcasing the various forms of struggle that face marginalized groups. Some folks can "hide" as Mystique put it, you might imagine a white gay man who wears a regular business suit to work and acts like any well-mannered heterosexual male. But then there are mutants who can't hide, someone like Nightcrawler, just as an example, just his mere appearance is enough to whip closed minded people into a frenzy, even though he's literally a monk who spends his time meditating and praying and whatnot, not hurting a damn fly. Someone with darker skin, or perhaps a transgender person who's only started to transition might find that relatable. So basically Mystique is pointing out that even in the world of marginalized people, there are some that enjoy certain privileges over others and may not even realize it.

Watching Xavier in his college phase being all smooth with the women, then later his depressed / hermit days reminds me so much of my own life. I went full on player mode in my early 20's and was so smooth with the ladies. Always had at least 1 girlfriend and more lined up. I never considered it before but in some ways Charles being quite ashamed of the less pretty mutations and chastising Raven for a slip up that drew a lot of extra attention does align well with the comics that came out around the same time - things that reconnected Charles as being less of a bastion of pure values and someone who was altruistic despite his skeletons in the closet.
