I agree Charlie needs more screen time, but he's not the main character, so I understand why they prioritise other characters over him. but Noah had an entire season for himself in season 2, and season 1 was also about will. I do hope we get more Noah and fin action we need their friendship back!

The whole cali crew got sidelined so hard, Mike is just a emo heart broken boy now since season 3. Will has not purpose since season 2. And Jonathan is getting done so dirty

@@tobiasengstrm5118 S1 was about Will yes but he was absent for most of it how could he have demonstrated his acting? Despite him playing a pivotal role in the first 2 seasons he’s the kid we know the least about and we barely got to see him interact with anyone outside his family and Mike I also don’t think there are well-defined main characters in the show besides like El they all feel like main characters to me so it would make sense for the focus to shift continuously between them

He demonstrated his acting in the several scenes he was in for season one. Its not like he went missing in episode one and wasn't heard from til the end. There were scenes with him hiding in the upside down. Then he had an entire season where he was the focal point and then in season 3 he got that great scene beginning with him as Will the Wise trying to get his friends to play D&D and then him destroying Castle Byers until finally showing fear upon his realizing what is happening. he also had some great scenes in the first part of season 4. I really have no idea what show people are watching with Noah where he's not getting great scenes to act, because it definitely isn't Stranger Things. Of the kids, only Millie has gotten more great scenes than Noah.

Mike was my favorite character in season 1. He was literally the heart and soul of the group. He stood up for his friends always, without question and knew in his heart that El was never bad. I absolutely HATE what they did to his character in season 3 and 4. They not only pushed him aside like Will and Jon, but the little scenes he was given the last 2 seasons have no substance. He does extremely well in emotional scenes. I still remember Mike crying when El is fighting in the school in the last episode of season 1 and he's crying knowing she's probably going to die. And then in season 2, when El returns you see Mike look absolutely shocked with tears in his eyes then he gives a little smile. Both he and Will proved in season 1 and 2 that they do amazing with emotional scenes and that's exactly what they haven't gotten. Jon, Mike and Will deserve better scenes and more substance. I find there are a lot of comedic parts now as well as the brains. But I do think Mike, Will and Jon were really the hearts of the show and now they're not even around,

I feel like Jonathan needs to actually go to college out of state to grow as his own person. He's pretty much reverted back to his character from season 1 this season.

In season 1 he had this darker side to him. They could of done something interesting with his character, but they did nothing with it.

Me too!! I’ve seen some ppl say Jonathan isn’t needed in the show anymore… like wtf?? That could go for a lot of characters honestly not every character has to be so involved in the plot constantly. It’s ok if there’s some characters just for comedic relief or have less screentime when not needed as much. The California group is clearly gonna have a major role since they’re on their way to SAVE ELEVEN!!

Afterthought: I also wouldn't mind them going more classic movie vibes/subverting a big overcome-it trope and having his and Argyle's stoner-ness end up being humorously and satisfyingly helpful for the story's events in the end. That would be really fun too. The stoner bits aren't my favorites among the lighthearted beats of the show (it's just never been my subjective humor taste, but I'm happy others enjoy it) -- but the lighthearted beats of the show are overall probably my favorite part of its artistry. People hate on the "Neverending Story" scene for tonal dissonance, for instance (Billy death issues aside), but it's my favorite scene in serial film history lol, I think it really captured the essence of the story's emotional roller coaster and was an important reminder that we're all here to enjoy a fantasy tale. So, I could see a stoner movie humor series of events being implemented in a similarly iconically irreverent way if done right (and this show does tend to do things right!). The lighthearted beats are fancy flowers on the figurative cake, which blend in well with the rest of the brilliant decorations (the emotional tones overall) so it's hard to realize how much they add to the overall colorful impression unless you happen to know how the cake looks without them.

I didn't get why people hated on the Neverending Story bit. Most of what I heard was that it didn't fit into it because they're trying to save the world. But newsflash, Suzy didn't know that, not really. And the consternation and disbelief on everyone's face when it was happening was perfect. Another great season 3 bit was Hopper after the first day with no Mike singing "You Don't Mess Around With Jim" in the car😂😂😂

I feel like they already kinda ruined it. He was the one weakness I had for the season. Felt like a totally superfluous character.

That's because the arc was solely based on El, and once she got separated from them, they had nothing to do at all

This is why they need to get back to making them the central point in Season 5 not supporting characters - Not giving Max, Hopper, And Those New Characters all the attention

The thing is, I feel like Nancy seeing Jonathan is gonna remind her of her love for him, meaning she would have to choose between Steve and Jonathan. Writing off jancy makes no sense, they had a build up of two seasons bruh. I think this love triangle is gonna be “nancy loving them both but always choosing Jonathan” tbh. Like I get Steve has changed but jancy has always been there for eachother and since Jonathan isn’t there she’s literally had to fill His place.

Dunno, I was sensing a potential romance between Robin and Nancy...

@@elisafigueora1688 yes I agree with you 100%. It makes no sense that the writers have been setting up Jancy for two season and then just stop it. Nancy has always had a deeper connection with Jonathan then she had with Steve and idk why she is just throwing that all away. Maybe she is just confused but I feel like if she sees Jonathan again, she will realize how much she loves him and all the good memories they had together. So many people are saying Stancy is better because they’ve had character development but their character development was getting over each other and moving on. So I really hope they stop this Stancy storyline and bring back Jancy!!

It's not just you, believe me! It's like the only way they could make Jonathan look like a bad choice is by suddenly making him a pothead who can't get into college. STEVE isn't going to college with Nancy either, remember? He just happens to actually be there when Nancy is missing Jonathan. Also, who says she loves Steve? A stoner who doesn't seem to have a girlfriend himself? When did Eddie become an expert on love? So Jancy has a disagreement or two - so what? Couples are allowed to do that! Just because Steve has grown as a person - and I can admit he has - that doesn't mean Nancy has to take him back! I think she just feels badly about how it ended, and if they sit down and talk it out like adults, they can still be friends without all the drama between them.

Maybe he takes another bullet for the team to get Nancy back from the trance she was in under Vecna’s spell at the end of S 4 part 1. I do hope, If Nancy is brought back and Steve survives, they get to introduce someone for Steve in season 4/5. He deserves to be happy after all he’s gone through with Nancy and then Robin having to turn him down, for obvious reasons, and I just want to see the guy happy.

Will is closeted, the person he loves is in love with his step sister. So he's protective of El, Jealous of El, mad at Mike all while trying to hide who he is. I would argue most actors would love to play that part. Not all acting is big speeches and obvious drama. And Noah plays it perfectly. But I agree on Jonathan. I think Charlie is an actor worthy of an expanded role. That being said, I wouldn't critique an unfinished product too harshly. I imagine episodes 8 & 9 will have some great scenes with Jonathan and Nancy.

On Mike, he isn't being painted as selfish. He's playing a young teenage boy. Almost by definition that means self involved to a degree. Though even with that, his motivation isn't selfish, its about helping Eleven.

@@snerdterguson I understand where they're going with Wills character. But last season was the same story. He is given very little lines and made to stand in the background of everyone else. So far, it's been the same. Weve seen him exchange a few words with El and Mike and that's it. I know he was a great actor in season 2 which is why I think it's a disservice for his characters as well as the others to not at least get equal time or a trade off as opposed to the other characters. I mean the highlights of this season were last seasons highlights once again. Given how long these episodes are, there's really not much excuse for them having such a tiny portion. Even if they're given more time in the final two episodes, their absence has been apparent yet people are still calling this the best season. That doesn't boast well for their characters.

This is just what happens when the casting department finds stellar actors for every single role in your show. They ALL, (like Winona Ryder, Murry, J'aquen Hagar, Will, Mike, Jonathan, Mike & Nancy's mom and dad, Erica, Lucas, Paul Riser and Papa Modine, etc.) deserve lots of dialogue and development, longer scenes, more action. I have seldom seen a lineup of DOZENS of award winning characters in a single show. Even GOT and TWD have weaker actors that get less screen time. With Stranger Things, there are NO weak actors.

I don't agree on the Will part, his story is great, and Noah really shines this season. yes it's not dramatic and loud like his performance in s2, but acting isn't all about that. his subtle (and not so much) facial expressions, struggling with his feelings towards Mike that he can't show, his glances at Mike, Noah sells it all SO WELL I'm really amazed. but i agree on Mike's part and ESPECIALLY on Jonathan. My boy really didn't deserve this treatment 😐

The problem is, there are only 4 hours of season left, and it will most likely be pure action and fights, because things are about to get crazy. So knowing that, the feelings and development of the characters will be left at a side place and nothing will happen at all

It did come as surprise for me when the trailer hinted at it given his characterization for the first 3 seasons. Hope things get better for Jonathan in Vol. 2
