Dear BR, I enjoy your videos but the topics seem random. If we're learning bebop, can we get an overall plan or syllabus? We seem to dive into specific players, chords or other commentator's work without a structured pedagogy. Best wishes for 2019.
visog You can't just learn to play bebop. It has to do with developing as an artist. The journey never ends. Best advice is to improve your skills of playing your instrument while trying to sound the way the people you most admire do.
@@jazzygiraffe8589 My advice is to listen to the music. Sixty years ago, on holiday in Austria, I heard some of the Massey Hall Concert and items from the September 29, 1947 Concert from Carnegie Hall. I've been listening ever since and now, I think, I'm beginning to understand it all a bit better. Whether you can play the music is not what matters. Enjoy it and listen. I play bass guitar so I've some idea of what's going on but, I repeat, immerse yourself in the music. Good luck!
John Griffin I think immersing oneself in the music happens naturally. I mean that's why people even want to start playing it. But you're right of course, younhave got to be as passionate about the music as possible in order to learn it.
