A & E does a Charlie's Angels Biography called "Charlie's Angels: Girls with Guns". It features all of the Angels and has some rare footage and pictures! Part 1.
I disagree with a lot of fans, it was not right to blame Shelley Hack or Tanya Roberts for the show's decline. By season three episodes were very similar, but when Hack arrived in season 4 with fresh stories, the audience had already lost interest. Same thing happened with Roberts in season 5. ABC moved the show to like 3 timeslots in a way to improve ratings, but by June 1981, the series placed 59th out of just 65 shows. I think the decline of the show relies on the writers, not the actresses.
its not Hack or Roberts fault...the show in my opinion simply could not sustain the loss of Kate...i for one never saw an episode after she left never missed one before she did...clearly im not alone
joe joe Spot on! No you’re not alone. That’s exactly how I feel! Kate Jackson was awesome. She could not be replaced no matter who it would have been. Been actually rewatching all her episodes these days. After four decades! And I feel exactly the same about her and Sabrina Duncan. Amazing!! :-)
They were both pretty bad actresses. The storylines were not great, but the bad acting did not help. Once Kate left I lost interest. I have rarely watched the last 2 seasons
They fail to mention that it was Kate Jackson who came up with the idea to call them angels and they never get to see their boss! Of course Kate never got credit for this. As for being the smart angel yes. But she was also very attractive, fun, badass and she could in fact act! Pay attention to the subtleties in her acting. Something only she could pull off while the others wore skimpy dresses. And yet to me Kate was still the sexiest of them. And there’s her charisma!
Totally agree with everything you just stated. Farrah actually grew into a very good actress. You could tell in the series (at least I could) that she was MORE than the sum of her character "Jill Munroe".
Actually she was the first female lead to have a successful hit series. The others Teresa Graves which was on a year earlier than Police Woman had only lasted one season.Other female leads in the 60s had one hour shows that only last one season. That is The Girl From Uncle, Honey West I forgot the woman's name who played Honey West and then there was Berverly Garland who also had a lead in a one hour show that last only one season I also forgot the name of the show. But Angie Dickenson was the first woman in a one hour show to make it big.Police Woman debut in 1974.. Other female leads followed later such as Lindsay Wagner as the Bionic Woman, Lynda Carter as Wonder Woman, then came Charlie's Angels which instantly became a big hit.
Yeah, Bo believes that black people copied corn rows from her. She actively campaigned for George W. Bush, and in return, he appointed her to the board of trustees for the Kennedy Center for the Performing Arts.
OK, they totally disregarded the fact that Angie Dickinson was the first successful female-led drama. Not taking away from what Charlie's Angels brought to the table, but they should've included that fact since mentioning other crime dramas.
Bo, when you wore *_Fulani Braids_* a very popular African Hairstyle very popular in Black/African American Culture, it became all the Rage in Mainstream, and peaked the interest of a few white and other non-black women who wanted to wear that style. But it was always the Rage... Mainstream Media only rave about it when a non-black wears the Style. It's all good.
you coulda saved some money by skipping the universally loathed 5th season... there are no extras to make this set worth buying for those who have already purchased the 4 great seasons before the absolute pathetic fall in the last
Marilyn Monroe ? M M ? 50ties Brigitte Bardot 60ties ? B B Farrah Fawcet ? FF ? 70ies and M M BB FF what do you think about it They are magic something fabulous means the best of of the best and him gonna cry
Christian VA Nothing wrong with it BUT I would hardly consider them DIVERSE culturally, ethnically, skin color wise (unless you count Farrah's tan skin and obvious foreign ethnic name).
Trent Timoy but can't that be said then for series like good times or Sanford and Son? Chico and the Man had real diversity the the former two didn't going by what you are saying
Christian VA We are not talking about Sanford & Son. The question posed is regarding Charlies Angels. All those other shows you mentioned are specific to that show.
Trent Timoy but there was no question..YOU brought it up because it bothered you that they used the word "diverse" in an all white cast and you automatically got PC about it I used those shows Sanford and Son and Good Times because I think it is hypocritical to blast an all white cast show but not an all black cast for not being "diverse" enough
Kate Jackson = co-creator of this show, best actress, best angel and drop-dead gorgeous. Farrah = phenom. Jaclyn = barbie doll. The show did not work without Kate Jackson at all. Period!
