It is interesting hearing her speak about her father. When she was a teenager her Father attacked her and her mother and her mother shot and killed him as self-defense. I've never heard her speak about him in interviews.

To be fair, Charlize's moves in the Italian Job are way more impressive than anything the male cast had to pull off so that is likely why they gave her extra time at the driving school. I remember watching bonus content on that DVD when I picked it up (one of my favorite movies of all time) that showed them at the school and damn does she kick ass. I'm a car girl too so I feel her on the assumptions made about women. Mechanics are always surprised when I bring my car in for service and can essentially summarize what is needed accurately. I was raised by a stock car driver. You don't live with that kind of man and not pick things up.

It's possible/likely her moves are more impressive because she already knew things and picked up more tricks faster than the male cast so she was given more cool things to do. She doesn't say whether she actually used those extra two weeks, but she definitely implies she didn't need them. Jimmy also questions Charlize's comment that the director was kinda sexist. Considering the fact that actors generally don't talk ill of people they worked with, I'd bet there was more than just the 2 weeks extra of the driving school that made the director's sexism stand out.
