Been living In Charlotte for over 25+ years and I have to say it a great place to live. But it’s coming to the point where it’s getting way to packed and cost of living is going up a lot!!
@@Kneeknee2 It varies, closer to downtown which we call uptown, closer to 2k. Further out its around 1k, If you want to rent a whole house its 2k-3k. Hope that helps
I moved here in 1984, left in 2006, and moved back in 2009. One thing I've found that people don't realize - when seeing Charlotte from the air (or a video like this) - there's neighborhoods under all those trees. That's not blank space - it's houses & schools & shops & more. I've explained that so many times over the years. It's why Charlotte is called The City of Trees.
Yeah the city is pretty intense. Been here almost 3 years...still cant tell where the hell I be going lol the trees cover up all the action on the ground . It's a pretty great city
I don't understand Why charlotte is NOT the capital of NC. It has a stadium, professional football team,. Larger .City than raleigh. More places to visit.
@@DavidGarcia-re9qh, read a list of the 50 states and their capitals. You will find that MANY of the capitals are not the largest or most popular city in the state.
@Iron Fist, I moved here the first time: because I was under 18 & had no choice - lol - and the second time, I moved back to be near family when I was suddenly single (had moved away with husband for his job transfer a few years prior).
Beautiful video! Have been here 30 plus years!!! Charlotte has grown into a beautiful city! I’m still praying that Charlotte will continue to thrive and be herself and not mimic other cities like New York.....etc
My wife and I moved here to CLT in 2007 from West Palm Beach fl, left Florida for a job opportunity. It was a bit of a "culture shock" for us, but we adapted and it was the Best move we have ever made. Went back to Florida recently so she could visit family, sooo glad we left. When family comes here to visit, they don’t want to leave, and I understand why. Florida is a great place to visit just not to live, and other folks from fl that live here could not agree with us more.
Currently a recent grad moving from the smack middle of Miami to Charlotte and I’m so excited. I’ve never been but I fought for a job and found and opportunity and I feel this calling to be there. I’m a bit nervous about the whole situation I’ve never left home but couldn’t be happier at the same time.
@@stephannytorres3289 moved here 5 years ago from Miami for work and I've enjoyed my time here. We're moving to Auburndale FL because we've found remote work and have a child now so we want to be closer to family.
Clay, thanks for the info....I needed to decide between Miami and Charlotte...Both cities are beatiful, but I think Miami is more for vacation, tourists and beach and party lovers. On the other hand, in Charlotte you have the beaches at driving distance from the city (in addition to some lakes where you can swim). Also you can experience the 4 seasons with mild winters, and mountains with skiing spots are also at a driving distance from the city.
One of the best videos of Charlotte. Great job! I've moved to Charlotte 13yrs ago from NY and never looked back. Affordable homes, Smooth roads, Friendly people, Beautiful weather, Great restaurants and major employers. If you are thinking about moving nows the perfect time😊.

We are 3 months new to Charlotte, NC. The skyline is beautiful. When in time, we will be adventurous. For my adult life, I've been searching for "home", I feel Charlotte, NC is my new home. Great video.
Moved to Charlotte in 2003 Used to be very nice 👍, but now it’s start to be more like small New York City with lots of New Yorkers moved here ... with there nasty attitude
Their * and coming from a new Yorker , not all of us are like this. There has been plenty of people from Charlotte that come up to New York acting a fool too 😂🤷🏽♀️
Don’t get fooled, like usually, just the nice and expensive places where rich can afford to live are shown. Where is the “tent city”?, the suburbs? The trailers parks?, or the poor neighborhoods where the regular but hard working people live? The lack of public transportation? Charlotte turned from being an affordable place to live to an expensive one, taxes are sky high now, rentals are insane. salaries are low. You have to work 2-3 jobs to survive!! I moved in 15 years ago when things were completely different and not so crowded , so, believe me :)
Compared to other big cities in the US. Unfortunately the cost of living is increasing all across the country, massively outpacing the growth of income. The Charlotte City Council won’t do a thing about it due to their relationship with land developers.
@@ricardobarahona3939 the biggest problem with Charlotte is that many of the politicians "married" with big corporations and never put attention to mandatory raised of wages or price gauges

I live in Hickory, about an hour from Charlotte. This whole area is growing so fast and most people weren't ready for it. So many people moving here from all over the US. Kinda makes me sad though, because I always felt like it was one of those well kept secrets that this was a nice area to live. Now the secret is out and all of the little mountain towns are becoming commercialized, crowded, and more expensive. It's bittersweet.
@@diegoperez2090 because Atlanta has a seedy and demonic fake Hollywood number 2 energy to it. And that's coming from a former Californian. Too much fake fuckery that city. Charlotte is far more relaxed and real.
Im 20 and just enlisted in the Air Force. Thinking about moving to Charlotte after my 4 year enlistment to pursue a career in barbering and real estate, and possibly something finance🤷🏾♂️
U just enlisted in air force and already thinking 4 years down the road? Just enjoy your time in air force for now you never know where u will go after that.
zooknut kr Yeah, I know a lot could change, and I do plan on enjoying my time and living in the moment, but I see nothing wrong with thinking and planning ahead by doing things now that can set me up for the future
@Iron Fist if Charlotte is 🗑 then why are so many mfr"s moving here? I'm a native of this town this place has doubled its population in the last 25 years
Time is running out, repent, ask God for forgiveness and accept Jesus Christ as your personal Lord and savior. Roman's 10:9, read and study your bible, spend time with God and live righteous and please God.
We’d love to have you but if you were going to vote far left please don’t bother. The left is already starting to raise taxes the mayor has instituted a no arrest rule for the police officers which include non-offensive crimes they consider assault and battery a non-violent crime
I'm a New Yorker but I moved to Charlotte 1995 I moved back to Brooklyn to be with my aging parents, but I'm hoping to eventually move back, IT IS A CITY OF CITIES, I LOVE and MISS Charlotte DESPERATELY!
You all missed Johnson C. Smith University which was founded way before UNC-Charlotte was even thought of. Not to mention it has served as a pillar in the Biddleville & Beatties Ford community in which many people are flocking to that area as it has become a hotspot.
I love this city, very diverse, not a racist like some places in the south , good atmosphere, people are open minded, and lots of job and business opportunities, low crime rate, very good place to raise kids. Surrounding smaller cities and towns within 20 to 30 minutes close to Charlotte are pretty decent places as well. They all thrive to the heartbeat of charlotte🏙️🌇🌆🌃😎👍🏽
I lived in Charlotte all my life the crime rate is not high everywhere only in small areas of the city where you have low income communities and unemployment that's where you're going to find the high crime areas and that is not all over the city of Charlotte that is in small pockets of the city not even in every ghetto or Hood, and the stuff that's been going on in some of these small areas is nothing compared to what was going on in Charlotte in the 90s. All you got to do is move into a different area of the city if you want to avoid the crime, but be smart because nowadays everybody packing heat so you got to protect yourself. In good or bad places don't just be a victim and be vulnerable, y'all better tighten up quit complaining cuz the crime rate in Charlotte compared to Atlanta or Chicago or Miami or Memphis Tennessee or DC in Washington is way lower compared to all these other cities and like I said it's only in small pockets of the city but it's up to you to protect yourself anywhere you go you better tighten up
Charlotte is a really nice city! Although I'm thinking to leave Charlotte someday, I'm really sad to leave but I need change. This is a beautiful video! You did an amazing job! 😭😭😭
Great Video. One of your best. I'm up in the air on the skyline comment. NYC, Miami I think have the best skylines. Charlotte has NYC beat when it comes to weather, cost of living and roads. Nice and Smooth, my car would love it.
@@TampaAerialMedia lol. Yeah. Queens has the Best view of it but Queens has gotten very pricey as well. We'll see how things pan out. What Rich people and poor people stay and leave? How many work from home permanently? Ect ECT?
I love these videos and omg Charlotte is gorgeous, the skyscrapers and skyline is so sexy, I love BOfA tower with that stunning crowning ...the woods, and all else, I can skip Paris and live in Charlotte .... I see all I love about a liveable elegant diverse city in Charlotte

charlotte is more than just sgowing uptown.....Charlotte aint built for all the people moving there.. next 5 years it willbe worse than atl....overcrowed and not enough roads...dont be decieved just from seeing uptown
Iron Fist people say it’s a bootleg New York, a fake ATL, A wannabe Dallas, now A knock off Seattle. Charlotte is just Charlotte. It’s a growing city and a lot of people like it. The country will forever be evolving and cities (Including Charlotte) will continue to grow. Every place doesn’t have to be like every place else. Charlotte is the 15th largest and the 5th fastest growing in the country. While some see it as a knock off or bootleg. Big companies , large and small business, successful people and entrepreneurs along with major corporations see it as opportunity.
@@eaglei0n As someone who's been here since 2007, I'd say Charlotte has the one uptown in the center of it all but it only covers a small plot. Outside of the "metro", it's spread out across many geographical districts I like to call "bedroom" cities. NoDa, Pineville-Matthews, Myers Park, Ballantyne, Mint Hill, Mt Holly-Huntersville, Concord-Kannapolis, Lake Norman. All these cover 704/980 area code and they can be considered small towns with not a lot of metro bustling so it's really just choose your small town that's convenient for you while you enjoy the "city" part of Charlotte in uptown. That's the way I look at it at least and that's my favorite part of living here.

Great video highlighting many areas and things to do in Charlotte! With that said.. I would implore anyone visiting or moving here to seek better and more local (non-chain) restaurants than the ones shown here.
I can't believe i am watching this video when I just walked into the door from the weekend trip to Charlotte. It's a beautiful City. Thanks for sharing.
Absolutely Beautiful City...I often cant get over Dallas but Charlotte takes the cake as one of my favorite cities now. There is so much connection to nature and outdoors. Its scenic, the streets you showed were immaculate and well designed. The architecture so cohesive and harmonious. It seems like people are taking a hold of life instead of letting it take a hold of them.
@@SalsHQ Well Dallas is pretty flat if thats what your asking. We have hills and trails just like Charlotte but not in proportion or, in my opinion, majesty.
For years one of the biggest go to sights in Charlotte was Eastland Mall. It was on Central Avenue just west of Albemarle Road. It was also the center of activity for the east side of Charlotte. It was three levels with an ice skating rink on the ground floor. However, the east side of Charlotte was trending down from middle class and lower middle class to lower economic levels. There were bars on windows, gangs, and increased crime. After some shootings in Eastland Mall, the mall was eventually closed and demolished. The east side of Charlotte was hurting badly. By that time, I had accepted a business transfer to Greenville, SC. I was much happier in that new city.
Hello, nice video of Charlotte. One correction though, the light rail opened in 2007 from south Charlotte to uptown, the blue line extension is what opened in 2018 from uptown to UNCC.
I'm glad I came across this video. I've been contemplating moving to NC for a few years now. I've been to Raleigh for a weekend away for a wedding a few years back and loved it. I've lived in NYC for a couple years and loved it (just wayyy too expensive to stay) so I feel I would love the city feel of Charlotte. I was hoping to find one on Raleigh here as well, so I could compare, but didn't see one. My plan was to go down this past summer (I live in PA)and visit around both areas to get the feel of where I may like it best, but thanks to Covid, that didn't happen. I've read a lot about both, but I need to feel it lol. Anyway, my anxiousness is building more and more and the sooner I can move the better. It's just a matter of where would I fit best haha. Thanks for the video! If anyone can give me advice or own personal experience of these areas, I'll gladly take it, thanks 😊
@ 1:00 min you showed a totally different city lmao.... you made charlotte look good even tho it is so boring here, I'm actually going to move to Huston because there is NOTHING in charlotte but really low work pay and expensive living. rent here is crazy, you literally have to have a room mate if you're not makin $20 hr and up, and MOST of the apartments here need renovating really bad because everything is out of date and or broken and apartments like that run you about 950 a month in a bad area with roaches and all. if you want a luxury apartment expect to pay at least 1500 to 2000 on a studio / 1 bedroom when there's nothing luxury about it lol. if you want to live in charlotte make sure you can get a good paying job or someone to move here with cuz im telling you it is not fair living here
Born and raised in Charlotte, I left the first chance I got! Wayyyy too many people are moving here and it is a nightmare. Too many northerners, please dont move here, we are way too full!!
Nope. Houston, San Antonio, Atlanta, and Florida have something to say about that. The city is great for somebody. The city is building to accommodate the growth. Smart people run it.
We just moved from Boston. Please believe me...this is NOT too many people. Where did you move to? Mayberry? Little House on the Prairie? Go see the world and I guarantee you will come back and kiss the ground of this city.
Charlotte does got it going on. I was one of those unlucky ones that lost their job in Charlotte during the recession. It's funny you mentioned that because that was a really bad time there. Some of the neighborhoods that have houses for almost 300k now had boarded up windows with plywood during that time period. If you go back you got to eat at Merts heart and soul. The founder was in the Marine Corps and it's probably the best southern food in Charlotte. The cornbread is the best in the world. If you like Italian Open Kitchen is very good too.
Yes, this video is amazing but leaves out A LOT of areas. Charlotte is more than uptown/downtown, Ballentine, and Noda. But to be fair, you could live in, work, and/or frequent only the areas in this video and believe there is not much else to see. It's the way the city is arranged. But there are other parts with nice homes, businesses, shopping, churches, and even parks. I wish I had the skillset of this poster. Nevertheless, excellent job!
Moved to CLT in 1993 to attend JCSU. Moved back to hometown of DC in 2003. Moved back to CLT in 2007 til 2008. Then moved back to DC. Now in Md. since 2017…longing to be back in CLT 😩😂!!!
You don't want to live in Uptown, unless you want to get ran over by a scooter going at high speed on the sidewalk, drug dealers and users, weed smokers that stink up the streets and public transportation, spitters, speeding cars with music blasting all hours of the night, women screaming outside of bars, protesters/rioters and gun fire. Better to live in Davidson, Denver (NC), Cornelius or Mooresville.
And that's just on the good days! I live in Charlotte for 40 years moved away for one year came back and I don't recognize the city I grew up in hateful people horrible. Not the same city I know. so happy I moved to where I did it is amazing beautiful friendly people incredible love where I live now and I'm keeping it a secret. Sad to see Charlotte in North Carolina go down the drain. And before you bash me I grew up there I know that City in that state very well.
No but really Charlotte isn't where u wanna be. It has nothing to do with his attitude. Only nice parts in Charlotte are the inner city and certain parts of the Southside. I grew up here and it's terrible , so many people are trying to leave to be honest. Too much bullshit with drugs , violence deaths and more. We were one the top ten for homicides last year. Just stay where u are or find somewhere else to go.... Just being honest , not rude .
Noelani Luana Not sure what makes you think you’re qualified to make such a recommendation considering you do not know me. If I desired an outside opinion, I’d ask for one. I’m not going to base a major life decision on a random RU-vid comment
@@Spootyskater who said I was qualified ? Nobody did 😂just letting you know as someone who has lived and free up in Charlotte sees the changes and how much it isn't what it used to be. It's a honest fact tbh u can ask plenty of people who have stayed in Charlotte how it is. There's plenty of people who have moved here in the past year and are wanting to leave already. Charlotte isn't where u wanna be like I said 😬 too much going on. Move here if you want , you won't last 6 months. I bet 20 bucks you only seen south end , ballyntine , noda , and uptown 😂go to the rougher areas of Charlotte. Even parts of the south side are terrible. Stop getting pissy cause you wanna move somewhere and people are trying to give u a warning
Noelani Luana You clearly believe yourself to be qualified as you keep sharing your thoughts as if anyone cares to know them. Opinions are like assholes, my friend, keep it to yourself. As you were.

I love the USA, you have a very beautiful country. excuse me for my english, i speak french, i use google translate, my english is not great. thank you for everything you do. good continuation.
I’ve lived in several cities, due to my husband’s transfers, and moved here in 1987. I love Charlotte and the Ballantyne area where we relocated in 2004. If you don’t love Charlotte, you haven’t lived anywhere else.
I miss Charlotte like that girlfriend you had as a teenager that didn't quite work out and you went separate ways. I lived there for 5 years, got fired from my job and had to leave due to visa situation. That was 3 years ago and I think of her every single day.
You are right Florida in my opinion is better than Charlotte for several reasons. While I'm not saying that Charlotte is not a nice city it definitely has some major problems. 1. Affordable housing non existent. Typical 1 bedroom apartment in a good area around $1200 a month. 2. No diversity with the economy. Very big bank dependent. If the city of Charlotte ever stops giving the banks tax breaks they will pack up and leave.....Charlotte will be a disaster. 3. Most of the homes are made out of plastic, have small square footage (1500 - 1800), sitting on tiny lots on top of neighbors and come with high price tags. We have a joke about Charlotte and call it *plastic city*! 4. The roads around the city of Charlotte are the worst roads that I have seen in any southern city and I have lived in South Carolina and Georgia. Using our tax dollars to repair the streets are not a priority here in Charlotte. 5. Very limited train/bus service. Train does not go all over the city. These videos do a great job at advertising Charlotte to attract people to move here but the reality is far from perfect. And honestly until these issues are addressed does Charlotte really need to encourage more people to move here?
From New York Me and my sister and my nieces and Nephews are moving to Charlotte in 2021 ..I already have some family who are there now .. I’m excited for this transition...
@@antoniolewis But for real, property/housing outside 485 on the north side is getting expensive because of this. We're probably going to start to see a sandwiching effect soon. What happened to Raleigh lmao? It feels like Charlotte is the real capitol most of the time. The backstory on the Queen Charlotte that the city is named after is actually really interesting btw.
