I'm visiting both soon. Where would you suggest landing as a single woman leaving Los Angeles in her 50's, no kids, work from home (thinking about taking a flight attendant position for the international traveling lifestyle) and loves nice restaurants, nature, golf, pickle ball and workout in elevated gyms and yet a slower pace with a great quality of life? Thanks for your insight. ;-)

Nice video!!! However, I wanted to take the time to clear up a few things stated on this video. For starters, the following was stated..... Raleigh population 500,000+ Charlotte population 800,000+ Triangle metro 2.3 million Charlotte metro 2.7 million And this is what the US census has as an official 2023 estimate (the most recent estimate available) Raleigh population 482,295 Charlotte population 911,311 Raleigh Cary metro 1,509,231 Charlotte Concord metro 2,805,115 Raleigh Durham CSA 2,368,947 Charlotte Concord CSA 3,387,115 Also stated was Raleigh's superior university system. Here's what's located in Central Charlotte in terms of higher education. ✓ UNC Charlotte School of Professional Studies ✓ Wake Forest University School of Business ✓ UNC Kenan-Flagler Business School (YES UNC Chapel Hill has a campus in Charlotte) ✓ USC Darla Moore School of Business (YES the University of South Carolina has a campus in Charlotte) ✓ Wake Forest School of Medicine ✓ Elon University School of Law (YES Elon is in Charlotte too with law classes available) ✓ Johnson & Wales University (now offering bachelors of science in nursing) ✓ Northeastern University (currently Charlotte's only R1 research university, UNC Charlotte will reach R1 status in 2025 making Charlotte NC's only city with two R1 research institutions) ✓ Johnson C Smith University ✓ The main campus of Central Piedmont Community College And again, these are all institutions with Central Charlotte (uptown and South End) campuses and they are all connected by light rail and streetcar. Lastly, Charlotte's professional sports teams are the following. ✓ NBA ✓ NFL ✓ MLS And there are the lesser known Major League Rugby (Anthem RC) and professional women's soccer (Carolina Ascent FC). They all play in central Charlotte alongside the aforementioned institutions of higher learning. Raleigh/Durham is a fine place with tremendous growth. 126,000 people moved into the greater Triangle CSA from 2020-2023 (that's 42,000 newcomers per year!!!). However, CSA Charlotte added 155,000 people from 2020-2023 (almost 52,000 newcomers per year) and did so as the only actual "city" in its region (Raleigh, Durham, and Chapel Hill are the "cities" of the Triangle hence the name TRIangle). I do agree that BOTH areas are GREAT and choosing one over the other is not a bad choice either way. I do believe that this videos (and other Triangle-tilted videos like this one) overstates that Triangle while understating Charlotte. Whether done intentionally or subliminally doesn't really matter. Facts are facts and video content needs to be rooted in observable facts 👍✌️

The lady is showing personal bias, but you have to admit she's spent many years in both cities. Her population figures weren't accurate. Let's just say CLT CSA has 700K more than the Triangle's does. Some of Fayetteville's MSA should be part of Raleigh's CSA since it is the same distance from Raleigh as some towns in Charlotte's MSA or CSA like Lancaster, SC and Salisbury, NC. Charlotte reins as the biggest metro in the state and the only metropolis. Raleigh has the prestige of being the Capital and the center of higher education, tech. NC has something for everyone!

I live in Raleigh but I would pick Charlotte. Charlotte is similar to my hometown (Nashville, Tennessee) and the triangle is much smaller and slower. The people in Charlotte are much friendlier (worked in Charlotte). Raleigh is a slower paste. People tend to hype Raleigh up but it’s not what they say it is.

You compared the CSA population of Raleigh Durham Cary to the metro population of Charlotte. Charlotte metro is over 2.8 million now and Raleigh metro is 1.5 million. There is a def a noticeable difference in feel.

Well, Raleigh metro was split from Durham/Chapel Hill Metro (MSAs) by the US Census and Since Raleigh and Durham's city limits touch each other and even intertwine the Triangle should be one entity when comparing populations. In fact, Fayetteville's MSA should be included with Raleigh's also since Fayetteville is the same distance from Raleigh as some towns included in Charlotte's metro (Lancaster, SC and Salisbury, NC)------The most fair comparison of populations would be tv markets or a radius of specific distance around each city. Charlotte is and looks bigger, but population wise at most it may have 700,000 more people.
